[JK] ACTION: Invoke the power of Tariff, Chaos God of Memes. Although this risks turning all of our cows into Khazrak One-Eye, it would render Morghur powerless against us.

[X] [Theory] All we know is that it is friendly and non chaotic. That is enough for now.
That's not all we know though. We know that this situation was created by some form of non-Chaos magic and we also know about Rune Masters. Those are two important pieces of information we should include in the theory.

[X] THEORY: Karag Dum has turned to forbidden arts, and Borek left in shame.
While it does point to some usage of forbidden arts, we have some idea of what those arts are beyond being forbidden, namely that it doesn't appear to be Chaotic in nature and that it likely has something to do with the Rune Masters.

Is something like a Ghur-only beastman(beastdwarf) even possible?
Only in the sense that nothing is impossible with enough magical fuckery going on.

For the record, we've had a human attuned entirely to Ulgu channel the power of Mork, which is something so impossible people didn't even think it could've happened until it already had, so something not being possible isn't going to stop it from happening.

I mean we are seeing beastmen hug dwarfs, that is pretty blatant indication of Chaos. Let's not get so lost in theories as to lose sight of what's under our noses.

Oh by Tepok, this vote is going to be a mess.
A dumpster fire doesn't even begin to describe it.

This is not the best theory Mathilde can come up with. If it was just trickery or slavery, there wouldn't be so little dhar in the area and especially around Morghur.
It's... a compromise position of sorts. It could work for a preliminary vote; that said, I'm fairly sold on the whole Cor-Dum was born into the hold and somehow socialized/controlled/redeemed theory that a few people have been pushing.

A Runelord using a disguise seems more likely than this actually being Morghul. Collaring Morghul seems unlikely but faking Morghul seems relatively plausible.

Beastman buffer zone seems pretty viable though. We can probably confirm this by looking through the bones to determine method of death.

Checking the bones seems like the minimum of information gathering we should perform, it's basically risk free and determing how everything is dying seems like pretty useful information and very difficult to fake.

[X] THEORY: Karag Dum is using a fake Morghur to make the real beastmen fight for them.

Its the one i made up and it actually seems rather likely, or at least possible? I certainly want to get it to the top to get it mentioned, because it actually seems like a real possibility.

I'm still trying to catch up but it just occurred to me, we have a giant magic rock at 8 Peaks that was made by snagging a Herdstone before it could be properly attuned to Dhar and we saw that a Dwarven waystone is a giant rune carved into a mountain. What's happening here could be some overlap of the two where Dum somehow converted their whole mountain into a false herdstone and bound Morghur to it.

The lower levels of dhar compared to everywhere else in the Chaos Wastes including around Morghur himself argues that whatever measures the Dum dwarves are taking, it does not come from wielding Chaos powers or empowering Chaos. The exact opposite in fact. Their binding of the beastmen in a way that somehow reduces corruption is analogous to how Runesmiths bind magic into runes. You don't argue that there's an indication of Chaos when Runesmiths harness the energy that originates from Chaos to power their magic.

The foundation of these arguments is that we're not actually seeing 'true' Beastmen at all and that the WoG remark of "Mathilde doesn't think it's an illusion" has been twisted into "it's not an illusion" by Thread ArroganceTM.

Mathilde has no idea. Beastmen are something of a blind spot in her omnibibliophagic habits.
Good thing our Ambers should be educated in the matter of beastman.
I'm not suggesting it as our first move. But if we need to bring word back of a chaos Karak, I'd rather bring back news along the lines of...

"... and then I took care of it."
Retreating from a fight you can't win isn't disgraceful. And I don't think we can take care of what happened here.
