Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.

No, you didn't. You just voted that others not get one scene you didn't want. It's kind of hard to read it any other way when you didn't even bother reading through the list to strip out the '22 votes' chaff.
I removed it from every other vote, because I copied it from the tally and deleted what I didn't want to vote for. That's how preferential voting works.

I'm not really judging them for the vote.

Voting all but one is valid. My original comment was that it's not necessary, and that they could vote for scenes they actually want if they choose. They argued that they were doing that. I'm arguing that they're not. Not to scold them or anything. They're not doing that. It's fine that they're not, but there's no need to pretend that they are.
How do you know what I want?

Am I being excessively pedantic? Probably :p
There had better not be any such thing, or I'm doomed.
We could also aks Heidi, the empress herself as a matchmaker should make every batchelorette take notice. :thonk:
Just, a thorough background checks first, we want someone nice and friendly, not a secret axe murderer.
So, unfortunately, we succeeded too hard on encouraging Anton to not get run over by those girls who wanted to marry him for advantage:
Romantic: Anton has resolved to only marry for love, and has grown a will of iron to make it happen.
He'll marry someone he loves or die a bachelor.

(On the meta level, I suspect that once we resolve our romance arc in some way, Anton and Roswita might find partners, and that Boney has been nice about keeping them available for us.)

We need to reintroduce him to Arsanil.

Guys, please take the programming talk to DMs or keep it relevant to the thread topic.
Its a lot more fun to read than the shipping fights though.
There's a reason I wrote that I was reminded of the times I "had to" hand-tune tight loops. In one case I was writing GBA homebrew and getting some AI to run inside a single frame was easier than redesigning the whole thing to run an online planner and cache partial plans between frames. Rust hadn't been invented yet. In another case I was writing code targeting a CPU I'd designed from the ground up for a computer engineering course. I, in my infinite boredom and genius, had earlier in the semester decided on a OISC transport-triggered architecture with extreme pipelining. The last thing I did for that class was toggle the program into an FPGA dev board using switches and a 7-segment display. Toolchain? What toolchain?

I agree with you that Mel's code is unacceptable by modern standards; it'd be cheaper to buy better hardware than it would be to spend engineer-hours dealing with the performance constraints. At work I use mostly python and lisp.
IIRC you still see similar, though less extreme methods practiced for spacecraft, and drones(well, as of a generation ago, more powerful and reliable motors meant you could haul more battery and processing power), where space and energy consumption is at a premium.

Such skills would still be prized at NASA, though it'd have to be properly documented separate from the 'live' system.

We need to reintroduce him to Arsanil.
I wanted to introduce him to our Journeymanlings when he came to visit us at K8P, but I got outvoted and we ended up introducing him to Belegar (for mercs) and Gotri (for guns) instead.

I can't say that those things didn't work out well (we got the Besiegers out of the former and the Stirland Repeater out of the latter), but dammit imagine how cute he and Adela would be. Or he and Hubert, for that matter.

But yes, we should definitely encourage Asarnil to drop in on him.

[X] [ROMANCE] Journeywoman Panoramia
[X] Belegar, to discuss the northern Karaks and the Expedition.
[X] Eike Hochschild, to get to know your future business partner.
[X] Kasmir, to see how he's keeping himself busy in Sylvania.

I'm not suggesting political marriage here, just get him to meet every person in the empire so he can find someone he loves. :V
It is statistically likely that there is someone out there for him, we just need to tip the odds ludicrously in his favor.

I feel like the canal is being voted solely to kick Cython off the list, because i really can't see the appeal in it at all.

Like... the canal is done when its done, we can't do anything about it, and it isn't get stopped unless marienburg loses all sense and starts attacking it and gets themselves grudged in the process.

Remember vote Dragon, because its cool and interesting, and something new.

The canal isn't kicking Cython off the list. Cython is in sixth place and the canal is in fifth. Even if everyone voting for the canal dropped their votes immediately, you'd still need to pass the Eike threshold. Don't impute spiteful motives to other questers, and especially don't do it if you're going to be wrong about the facts.

Personally, I voted for the canal because I thought it would be interesting synergy with our EIC action, since we're taking action to protect the canals. It's the geographic locus for a national crisis that attracted attention from the Chancellor of the Imperial Seal; whatever we see there is going to be interesting. I'm going to vote for it again next turn if it fails this turn, probably.

Eike is also pretty silly to look at, she's what... 12?

We aren't her mother or anything.

and there is nothing interesting there yet.

Do you have anything positive to add?
Like, fine, you want Mathilde to romance the dragon, we get that.
Can you please make arguments for why people should vote for the dragon, instead of shitting on everyone elses votes?

dude it was a joke.

Do you not see the derp face?
No, we couldn't see it over your history of saying things are jokes, which you have also said entirely seriously.

And a lot of people voting here cannot see the appeal in romancing the dragon. Please stop implying that they are badwrong for having a different opinion than you.

How do you know what I want?
Alright, I'll bite. There are two forms of voting, voting for something, and voting against something. Both are valid. In a preferential-voting setup like this, the way that you vote against something is to vote for everything else. The way that you vote for something is to vote for a subset of things, and just those things.

My original comment was that your vote, being for literally everything except one item, is a vote against, not a vote for, and that you don't have to do that if you don't want to. (You can, and it's fine, but that's not what it seemed you were doing).

Your reply as I understand it was that, no, it's not a vote against, it's a vote for.

Could you clarify, then, what it is you are voting for, rather than against?

Edit: Ignore this, I've managed to work myself into a pedantry spiral that isn't even relevant to anything, and being an asshole about it.
