How good a showing was or was not is ultimately subjective. That said, a lot of people commented that Cython impressed them in the aftermath of that social update.
If anything it was a wasted opportunity to use this gif.

Accepting that the Dragon stole the show while hating the idea of romancing it.
I am often disappointed in the meme abilities of (some of) my fellow voters.

It definitely impressed me. Cython is now second place behind Panoramia. Panoramia however, is 1) on to our trickery in a way that's fun, doesn't ruin it for others, and makes it even better when we get one over her instead of just the usual targets (which is why I loved the staff, for example, or her not expecting us being a Ranaldite); 2) apparently has secret knowledge we can only get by marrying her.

When it comes to electricity, as I understand it there are two big obstacles standing in the way of it becoming a widespread/practical option. Number one is artificial generation, which basically involves figuring out how moving magnets and wires interact; without that, generating electricity requires either lightning storms or tons of celestial mages casting lightning all day, neither of which are practical. Get past that and you have simple electrical applications as a possibility- heat, light, and so on- but to go further and get computers that aren't building-sized you need to discover semiconductors. And getting those is basically a roll of the dice based on materials, how observant people are, etc.

Going for a bookwyrm just seems incredibly on-theme for Mathilde, really. Imagine all the scenes with Cython tied into building the library?
Maybe we can move the restricted section to its cave? After all, what better security is there for valuable books than a dragon that loves reading.

How the heck did we go from Johann and Pan being near parity in the first vote for romance to this result? :(

Because Dragon, I think.

Also, for those not interested in multiple winners, the second place romance is 3 votes behind Kasmir, and 4 behind Eike. For those wanting a poly with a dragon and Pan, however: Congrats, you are close to winning!

Basically our dear Ice Dragon was at first the most exotic pick and then blew everyone else around by how great he turn out to be.

So, the Dragon is currently tied on fifth place with the canal.

Interesting, we might get dual romance votes win with a little push.

Personally, i am somewhat worried about dual romance winning leading to pissing of one or more of the people romanced.
Please remember the lessons of the past, do not vote for things you are not certain you want to win.

@Redshirt Army can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure they know what I mean by 'romantic' and they're aware that's what they're voting for. They're just interested in a single aspect of that relationship instead of the whole kaboodle.
I do not think it was ever suggested that anyone voting for ROMANCE with the dragon because they want to hang out with the dragon was confused about what they would get. This obviously isn't going anywhere but that seemed a strange misunderstanding for you to have of my post, so I wanted to clear that up.

[X] Belegar, to discuss the northern Karaks and the Expedition.

[X] Eike Hochschild, to get to know your future business partner.

[X] Kasmir, to see how he's keeping himself busy in Sylvania.

[X] Barak Varr, to watch the progress of the canal.

[X] [ROMANCE] Journeywoman Panoramia

If multiple options win, I'm okay with Mathilde playing the field a bit longer with an eye to rounding to monogamy later. More interested in that approach than in chasing after a long-term polycule setup anyway.

Going on an explicitly romantic date or two with someone then turning them down after because the chemistry wasn't there isn't any kind of betrayal, and I don't think any of the choices given are likely to see it that way either. Though there may be social implications for Roswita/Anton given the nobility thing.

To briefly explain my choices, I really like Cython and want to see how BonyM will make the romance work. And yes I am expressly after a romance here, even if it is a non sexual one.

Anton and Johann are my top picks for the human choices as both have shown the level of profound trust in Mathilde (Johann's gilding and Anton's marriage proposal) and willingness to go the distance for Mathilde (Johann's going against Skrye with her, and Anton quitting the Stirland counsel for her) that I think she would need from a relationship. In effect I believe that both of them could be a stabilizing presence for Mathilde and provide her with someone she could trust as absolutely as they trust her.

I do like Paramonia, but she is not a dragon nor has she demonstrated the sort of trust and willingness to put her life on the line for us that Anton and Johann have, so she seems more like a friend to me.

[X] Belegar, to discuss the northern Karaks and the Expedition.

Belebro should always be selected. Honestly if the political and social situation would not be so messy I would have supported a romance here as well, but I suspect it would only cause more stress and tears for both him and Mathilde.
