I too don't have a coherent plan but for the general gist, we want to give data to both DOMA nad Eiling (especially the latter) as its more kudos for us.

For the Expo I reckon we should keep things non combat especially the exosuit as the government is already building one and it looks a bit out of place with everything else. Mainly because I don't want another Hammer Expo happening....

Attendance wise, Simon's write in is pretty great and those other other Expo write ins are also pretty useful.

For the suit, I'm gonna side with Negation above since everyone is doing exosuits but no one is doing Gundams... Plus this way we don't need to compete with the government. We can always develop proper suits later. However in this case we need to focus on maneuverability if we don't want to be a giant target.

@King crimson this quest is wonderful, and never before have I been this active a participant in one before, normally I'm too nervous to write anything other than a vote copy/paste, or a quick line or two. I enjoy that actions have consequences, but so does lack of action. I've seen quests on many forums where the world is static and relies on the participants to get things moving, everything is the world reacting to what is voted on, and there is seemingly no initiative from other factions, but here there is so much going on behind the scenes, and thank you for all that you do in the background even if we can't always see everything going on. My favorite moments are the insanely high rolls that change everything about the world (Lex getting Cassandra as a daughter, Pamela on integrating human and plant biology successfully, Ivo's high reverse-engineer roll giving so many options, like every learning roll with Cassandra and Lex) because its a nice combo of you writing a good narrative, us picking the right hero for the job, and luck being on our side. I kind of want to see what you'd write if we chose to capture batman and somehow rolled a 300 on that, or what might have happened if Ignition rolled a 1 when he attacked us, because you have written up a very interesting and enjoyable quest, using a world we have familiarity with, and I'd like to see how you'd make it all flow. :D

I wanted to ask if any of these are ok options for us to take. (I'm trying to get enough to buy the first Gemworld interlude after this turn, I've never heard of it before this quest, but after reading the wiki I'm curious how it could affect us down the line. I'm halfway there, and it only costs 200  )

I don't know how many of those fit into options we already have, rituals and projections may fit in learning about magic, splicing and mutagens maybe in biology, and I'm just skipping a few steps. Plastics can be either for designing a better use, or learning about it as a pollutant and what it does to the environment (or how it affects people as they consume microplastics). Aerogels I don't know what category it falls under, but I remember its fireproof, can stop a bullet, and very light.

@King crimson, where do you place the location of Pokolistan? DC had it as a part of Czech Republic, but with your story heavily relying on it being a part of RF, can it be somewhere in Mid/Eastern Pontic-Caspian Steppe region? Perhaps in the place of RF/Eastern Ukraine borderland? I'm thinking of stuff for another "Country Studies" omake, this one a brief history of Pokolistan, and I'd like to run the location by you first.

General PSA, if your vote is not in plan format it's not going to get counted. For the most part people have done alright but I want to warn the few people who didn't format their votes correctly in advance.

Thank you for your kind words. I really appreciate the input you've given and I'm glad to see all of my extra behind the scenes rolling is not for nothing. I'm really glad that you responded and given feedback as that helps me make the quest as enjoyable as possible for everyone involved.

Now on to your write-ins. I believe there is already an option to build a park, if not I'll add it in. Design a transport vehicle can be added in. Creating a card game is a bit of a dead action (but it is both a Nygma and an Oswald personal action). Tarot's fall under learning about magic. Modular weapons is under improving weapons but I can decouple it if there is interest in that specifically. Host a tournament is a bit vague as is but I can certainly include it. Simon Trent is currently in Gotham working a teaching job, the option to specifically find and investigate him is rejected since you have no point of contact with him and there are already ways to meet him. Lucid dreaming is a dead action so I'd have to reject it. Mutagens and splicing fall under both learning about biology and learning about genetics, the options exist you just haven't earned the prerequisites yet. Rituals and projections fall under learn about magic I believe and already exist as options. Plastics and aerogels both fall under learn about chemistry and already exist.

I need some clarification on what you mean by Learn about Shadows. If it's normal shadows then it's merely a component of Learn about Light which already exists and is an action I can decouple from learn about physics.

Still you've earned 200 exp so far with potentially more on the way as things get clarified.

Polkolistan is a place that in my head was placed near real life Chechnya. I'm amenable to having the location be shifted a bit so long as it remains near the border of Russia, it's more south than Siberia, it is eastern European and it is near a large body of water.

The Pontiac-Caspian Steppe region seems to work fine for that.

Hey guys it might be a good idea to spend some xp on the Gemworld omake if Herbert Winston has amethyst as a daughter.

@King crimson is there a definite way to get co-op scores upgrades? I ask because we had an astounding success and no one's co-op score seemed to raise with Lex, despite that. Does it depend on the project done? Like would doing magic with Rebecca be more likely to raise it?

Also what about these write-ins?

[] Create Anti-Matter Weaponry
[] Create Nanotech Weaponry
[] Create an Anti-Matter battery
[] Create Kryptonite Weaponry

There is no way that is 100% guaranteed to increase coop scores because there is no method that guarantees the action will be a success. It does somewhat depend on the action done and generally having the characters whose coop score you want to boost working on the same action also helps a lot. This time there wasn't a coop score boost because I felt what you got out of it was adequate.

With the following write-ins the antimatter stuff is rejected cause the option exists and is a follow up to what happens once you can safely make antimatter. Nanotech weaponry is an existing option and requires you to first learn more about nanotech/improve what you've got. Kryptonite weaponry is an option I'm saving until it turns out that there is a good reason to make Kryptonite weaponry (Superman's weakness is exposed). Until then it's thoroughly suboptimal and as such won't be offered as an option.

Not to be controversial cause normally I love this stuff, but I gotta agree with knowledge. We rolled a really high roll[albeit do to bonuses] and got little in return. We all kinda knew Cerise was weird but we wanted something a bit more, coop. Score being one of those things, even if it was the only thing. Of course you are QM in the end and I can't say I have full grasp about the mechanics you use, so your word is law.

You got confirmation on exactly how Cerise is weird and will now have even more follow up options based on it. Cerise's biology is an inroad to other very impressive things you'll be able to get now. On top of that how high the roll is matters less than the degree of separation between the DC and the final result (your success isn't counted as 400+ but rather as being at around 50 due to how success is calculated). You got the premise of the action fulfilled above and beyond a basic success with no downsides. In this specific case a 75+ difference was needed for coop scores to get boosted and you didn't quite reach that

I understand where you are coming from (I think) but I still don't think a coop boost is merited in this specific case, especially due to the action taken not really meshing with anything that would increase how well those three work together and cooperate. Questioning me is fine so long as you keep it respectful (and both you and KnowledgeKing have been) and I have made mistakes before. If you think I made a mistake call me out on it and I'll do my best to address your issues whether that's by explaining why I think my decision was correct or by going back and changing some things.

Oh I see, good to know. I should've been patient and wait for the next turn to arrive to see if any new actions arose, my apologies. And I thought it worked like that(The D.C I mean), but guess I was a bit absentminded do to the high D.C of Cerise. Sounds all good to me, thanks for being informative and polite.

@King crimson thank you. I'll include some of the clarifications on some of the options I wrote. Note: This turned out to be longer than I would have thought.

Modular weapons can mean a few things to me that may each be their own category. Either folding weapons like in Mass Effect, or mechashift weapons like in RWBY (everything turns into a gun), or configuarable weapons like in Fallout 4 (the example being the pipe gun that can become a handgun, sniper rifle, automatic weapon, etc depending on what attachments are added, same with laser weapons). I'm focusing more on the last one, but folding weapons could have a market, mechashift I think is a bit out there but it might get a niche consumer group.

I brought up Simon Trent because first "Beware the Grey Ghost" is my all time favorite episode of that particular series, second I'm wondering if there would be a way to incorporate the Grey Ghost with our shows (have Bruce Wayne watch it with Dick Grayson, while having to deal with Lex being responsible for bringing back his childhood show), and third if it could be used to create an actual Grey Ghost themed hero that we use as a mascot/actual hero unit. The Grey Ghost was being shown in theaters during the time Terry McGinnis was a child.

Shadows is a bit tricky, I can't really put into words without either saying the "Void" or Shade's ability with darkness and shadow. Less as the opposite or result of light, more of it being its own thing, a portal to connect to other shadows, or the devouring of light. Not something we've encountered yet but it exists I'd think.

The tournament is just us having a competition that we sponsor, maybe give out a prize, and maybe get some free research or ideas from observing the proceedings. We could have a fighting robot tournament, maybe get some ideas for our robots or drones, approach the winner to buy their design or give them a job, get some PR out of it. Doesn't need to be strictly robots but its what we have available (not like we can have a "create a genetically modified pet/plant" contest)

For the plastics and aerogel good to know they exist under chemistry, we may need that to lower some DCs later, but can we learn about pollutants in general? Like how it affects the environments/humans and try to reverse it? Might just be a dead action though, but Pamela might like it.

Lucid dreaming I understand why it is rejected, but what about ways to influence people's dreams, either through hypnosis or subliminal messaging? As for why I brought it up in general, I don't think John Dee is active as Doctor Destiny but I both want a defense against what he can do and maybe be able to use it against our enemies. He was a low-level LexCorp employee.

For rituals and projections, I figured they'd fall under magic, but I think they need sub-classifications later on. Kind of how biology, plants, and genetics are all about "life" but separate enough to warrant their own options. But we need to first take a few actions to actually learn more about magic in general I'd wager.

Some things I just wanted to ask, because I'm curious, but I understand if you can't answer:
1. DOMA knows about magic, gonna assume ARGUS knows about magic since they split from the same organization, does General Eiling know about magic? Like they are all government entities, and he didn't like the DEO, but I'm wondering if he was aware of what they were containing. If he did know about magic he might want to know how it could help his troops, he just can't bring up the subject around Lex because he doesn't know Lex knows, and I don't know how he'd react if we bring it up.

2. With the League of Shadows, where exactly are we with that? Like we are not allies with Ra's anymore, but we're also not enemies, so are we back to neutral, can we work with Talia again or are they going to give us the cold shoulder if we try to reach out? I get that to Ra's we weren't the best allies, but does he expect us to apologize or reach out, or has he just shrugged and that's it. I don't think he'd hold a grudge over it, but just trying to stay good on this.

3. Who is a higher rank, General Eiling or General Lane? The wiki doesn't ever say. May affect our interactions with them, I'm sure they've met and worked with each other before. Being good with Eiling could be a benefit or a hindrance depending on if they have a rivalry. Comics in general give a person a rank or title like general or commander without establishing the chain of command and where they fit in. It would piss Lois off something fierce if we have those two on our side.

4. Has there in general been any group or individual that has rolled higher than 500? Just trying to picture what would happen when you do that roll and just see that ridiculous number, or what is the highest roll total you've seen in this quest.

Thank you again :D

Before Superman arrives I kind of want to hear from you guys, what were some of your favorite moments so far in this quest?
Using the funeral of an employee we killed to shore up the loyalty of his friend and one of his coworkers was delightfully villainous. Top moment that I can think of off the top of my head.

The whole early Pamela business and Cassandra in general are things I like but can't point to a specific high point for.

I liked our working relationship with the League of Shadows while it lasted, and am enjoying the kind of pragmatic amicable mistrust we're building with DOMA. Light grey agency head Diana Prince is neat.
so are we back to neutral, can we work with Talia again or are they going to give us the cold shoulder if we try to reach out?
"Baby, give me another chance! I can change!"

Ra's Al Ghul refuses to look at Lex Luthor. "Oh? Then what's this I hear about you seeing another shadowy organization? You seem to be getting awfully close."

"Diana? She means nothing to me! You're the one I want to conquer the world with!"

Ra's Al Ghul turns to glare at Lex now, disgust clear on his face. "Nothing?! You're building a school, Lex! How many children will you be indoctrinating together once it's done? Dozens? Hundreds? Thousands?"

Lex refuses to meet his ex-conspirator's eyes. "That's just business. I'm a business, Ra's, I have needs."

"Does she see it that way?" Ra's sneers when Lex doesn't answer. "You haven't changed at all. Goodbye, Lex." Then his voice softens. "And goodbye, Cassandra. Talia enjoyed tutoring you while it lasted."

"Good-good-goodbye," echoes from an air vent.

Gotta go for a while. I'm going to come back and discuss/explain/read later.

- [ ] [Expo] Write-in: LexCorp Hiring/Job Application Booth

Never say no to rolling for more Hero Units in Events.
Oh yeah, I already edited that in Neg.

But as of when I first drafted the plan, I hadn't even read that snazzy write-in option.

Aaaanyway. Comparison!

OK, so the differences between "Not Glamorous, But Effective" and "Maximum Spy, Expo, X-osuit" are as follows:

I'm allowing non-LexCorp events. This is because I want Lexpo to be BIG, and I want to network as much as possible with it. It will also make it look less like a colossal monument to our ego, which makes it more effective as a colossal monument to our ego.

I'm demonstrating an exosuit because I want to put "LexCorp makes power armor" firmly in the minds of the public.

I'm showing off our service robots. We want those to go mass-market soon.

I'm encouraging presentations by prominent individuals, showing off some of our new weapons (in addition to the exosuit), and a lot more of our advanced tech, such as our 3-D printers, our tractor/pressor beams and holograms, and our subatomic imaging.

I am NOT showing off our AI because I'm worried about weirding people out; it's still kind of glitchy.

I'm having Lex give a speech; this may be redundant with "Have Lex Luthor speak," which IS in @KnowledgeKing 's plan. Not sure. I'm doing (reasonable) product giveaways.

Aaand the tickets. Basically, @KnowledgeKing is using an older version of the same basic approach as mine; I won't criticize it. I approve of free tickets for employees; that was a nice touch.

Now, as for the drones. Um.

Basically, my Drone 1 is a more or less realistic version of the real US Air Force's Predator drone. It's slow-flying, but high-flying to keep it out of the effective range of AA guns and shoulder-fired surface to air missiles. It's long-ranged- probably even more so than the real life Predator because of kryptonite batteries. It can be armed with Hellfire missiles or the like. It takes pictures and video, and has an infrared camera. It's not stealthy, but it isn't really intended to be.

My Drone 2, the 'Butterfly,' is a small palm-sized infiltration drone for spying on people. It's got urban camouflage (I figure it's small enough that in most wilderness areas it'll be hard to spot even without camo), but its main virtue is that it can give us real-time streaming video from anywhere we can fit it... and because it's so smol, we can fit it a LOT of places.

@KnowledgeKing did things a little differently.

His Drone 2 is a pretty straightforward low-end flying killbot with a camo scheme, weapons attachment, and voice command functionality. Mainly useful for killing things IMO.

His Drone 1 has a lot more trimmings. It's got all sorts of camo and is disguised as a bird apparently, probably a big one since it's like a foot across, it's got camera systems as good or better than my 'Predator,' it's got radar stealth, high flying speed, and a suicide detonation charge if we feel like blowing it up. Or, I suppose, using it as a long-range guided missile and going all Abqaiq on someone.

Honestly I don't have a good feeling about these designs. These are to some extent fighting drones, not spy drones, and they make some design compromises accordingly. We picked the 'spy drones' option to increase our Intrigue capabilities and surveillance. Personally, I'm trying to optimize my drones accordingly while avoiding any unnecessary 'bells and whistles' not directly related to the mission of the drones.

My Drone 1 is for when we don't really need to hide what we're doing- we can just legally overfly something, or we're operating in a part of the world where no one can really stop us except by shooting down the drone. My Drone 2 is a 'spy drone' in the classic sense, something that can get into a crawl-space and spy on everything that happens around it. I wish I could add a few more surveillance features to the 'Butterfly,' honestly, but I hesitate to give up the weapon mount or IR cameras on the 'Predator,' which is about all that's left to cut.

That leaves us comparing the exosuits. My 'Myrmidon' exosuit is modified with a variety of weapons (though I thought we already had the shoulder-mounted laser, @King crimson ). This includes surface to air and (presumably) surface to surface missiles, flamethrowers, blades for close-in work if applicable, along with upgrades to maneuverability and (importantly) a GPS system.

This is something we can probably market to the military, either as a complement or a competitor to STRIPE. It's got a lot of customizability in terms of weapons loadout, it's well suited to fighting enemy vehicles or blasting troops out of fortified positions, and it has the ability to respond effectively if it's attacked from the air.

@KnowledgeKing took a different approach.

His suits are physically faster (not an area I saw fit to upgrade since I don't see that as very useful for either urban environments or the military's likely roles for the suit in the near future).

They have "extra automated arm attachments" and honestly I'm not even sure what that does @King crimson , could you enlighten us?

They have tractor/pressor beam capability, which is cool. I steered clear of that because we haven't really developed that tech much and I'm hesitant to integrate it into our suits until we've worked with it more. Also because of the 11-point cost, for which I could snag, for example, surface to air missile batteries AND a GPS system.

His suits might well be better suited for fighting a lot of kinds of metahumans, depending on what goes into those arm attachments.

The one thing I question is the 'remote detonation.' I don't think it's worth spending points just to install a suicide bomb into our armor suits.
