If this was true, in so much as it has a bearing on the current armor vote specifically, it wouldn't be an option. Mathilde knows a lot more about dwarven culture than we do, and she isn't foolish. Suggesting something that would cause a grudge against us is wildly out of character for the subtle and at least passably tactful Mathilde.

The core thing now is to get enough approval votes from the full romance option; given that there have been no major non-romance objections to buying books, the no purchase side will likely drop votes once romance is passed in the tally.

According to whom? We have books on dwarven culture, dwarven friends to ask and having been living closely with dwarves for 6 months. If it was wrong to reforge it, then Math wouldn't have had the option.

We also have a council filled with dwarves. If it was grudgeworthy then that opinion simply wouldn't go through.

Yea if it's Grudge worthy, then Belegar will just go "I appreciate the thought but we're not dishonouring X hold/clan"
 
Yeah, the point of my post was "I think a lot of people are voting no purchase because they don't want to spend so much on romance novels, so we should get some momentum behind the non-romance-novel book acquisition plan if we want those other books."

Exactly. I'm on Team Romance Novels, but I recognize that a lot of people feel strongly that the current romance novel plan is excessive, so I have approval voted for the non-romance-but-still-extensive option I quoted in my last post in the hopes that no-purchase people also approval vote for it and we can meet in the middle.

Exactly. Some of us will, I beleive. No book/small list faction here, approval voting the no romance. I hoped for a more modest purchase, but I can live with that list, and we really do need some of the books right now.

I've approved voted for the small list, and would also drop my no purchase vote if small list gains enough traction in the tally - hopefully, I'd still be awake then since it's 11pm in my GMT+8 part of the world.

I find myself turned off by the idea that the armor would be reforged into a weapon for Math, which turns me off the reforge option in general.

Well, long-term, the forts would need to be staffed by humans anyway, given that it's their border. It is still a piece of the puzzle though, a means to stop the constant influx of badland orcs long enough to give the province a decent orc-scrubbing (which is the true black hole of time and blood), since until the orcs there are reduced to manageable numbers every village-sized kingdom can spare little from defense.

My belief is that the most likely compromise option, given the amount of time left, is the no-romance option: the one I listed second. Since these long lists of book topics kind of blur together, check the vote tally to make sure you're being credited to the plan you think you're being credit to!

(And for my fellow romance lovers: we can probably gain our collection more gradually and cheaply. I think the Extensive/Esoteric bothered a lot of people, and while I want a rare edition of obscure trashy literature as much as the next fellow, I think it will be easier to talk people around to cheaper options.)

If the Reforging is elected, and if weapons is what it's to be made into, then we have WoG that it'd be a series of weapons, not just for Math.

Her name is literally on the "tale"'s title (Belegar, Kragg and Math), I'd say she is entitled to one of many commemorative weapons forged from a piece of gromril she personally recovered from a Skaven fortress, don't you think?

I'm pretty certain that in the event that we choose to get a 25 favour (anything up from 10-15 I think) weapon, and the gromril armour goes anywhere other than reforging, the sword will have to wait until another source of gromril is available, we could never get a 25F sword made of anything other than gromril; anything else would explode under the weight of the runes.

Edit: Like, people are talking about "if we don't choose the reforging option, we'll end up with a steel 25F sword", but that's completely impossible, they'd tell us the sword will have to wait until we get more gromril.

Consolidated on the no-romance option, I can live with Linguistics if we are going to teach literal spiders how to speak pseudo-German.

I suggested this, too.
Most of those other lists still include things I consider extravagances. (100 gold on Morr books).
I think people wanting to burn our gold fast on books internalised the wrong lesson from our chat with the bursar.
