How about this for an ambitious plan?

The sun rises in the east, and the Caldera is west of the Citadel. That means that at dawn and for some times into the morning the Citadel will cast a long shadow over the Caldera. We also know that Burning Shadows can be cast on the shadows of structures, and the Citadel is a structure the dwarves built above ground, not a natural terrain feature.

My proposal is this

[X] Mathilde infiltrates into position to be down sun of the Citadel and arranges for the dwarves to attack at the local dawn, when the sun becomes visible above the eastern peaks. She then times the conclusion of a ritual casting of Burning Shadows to complete moments after the sun is visible and the Citadel's shadow is cast.

This should neatly solve the problem of reinforcements from the Caldera, as any greenskins that try to run up the path will be melted before they reach the top.

Does any one see any critical flaws with this? Apart from the risk of ritual casting the spell, which is probably a nice to have rather than essential.

Wouldn't that large scale an effect be the province of Battle magic? I don't think Mathilde has the skill.

[X] Sleep on the pile like a dragon
- [X] Gather the Journeymanlings and have them take turns proposing strategies and then critiquing

If we're experimenting with write-in votes, maybe we can experiment with a moratorium too?
Until you wake up?
Develop and discuss the plans, but only open voting later.

Most are at least a little more inclined to call upon him when the metaphorical dice start rolling, and there's a few dozen that will start paying their local shrine more attention if they make it home.
Which of course they will, now that they are praying to a deity that actually does shit.

... No, I'm not still bitter at Sigmar. I am just getting in character as Mathilde, that's all.

Hmm how easily would the goblins in the caldera see the assault on the Citadel cause if there's relatively few good spots where they would see the battle than we could probably sneak in and stab whatever scouts that are in charge of watching of the Citadel before the battle starts

Alright. So, the important thing is to not so much take it, as take it without attracting the rest of the Greenskins from the surrounding Karags and the rest of the caldera.

To that end, the first thing that is most important is to NOT use artillery to eliminate their ranged capabilities. Artillery is, above all else, loud.

the greenskins have fragmented into a dozen or more separate groups,
@BoneyM Do we know where the Greenskins groups are, or at least where the majority of them are (say, one or two locations with the most?)

all these 100 Mathil keep rolling is scaring me that another string of 1 is incoming

I'm going to be out for a while and I'm not keen to either have half the voting period be in the moratorium or push back the next update.

But let's try this: moratorium for the next hour, ask any questions you need, and after that hour voting is open and I'll go to bed.

Start slowly, like an avalanche
This feels incredibly dwarfy, it would probably earn some serious points with them.

Honestly having Mathilde set up for timely sabotage and assassination is probably the best use for her. The only other thing that might better is finding some dwarven specialists on sabotage/assassination if she can sneak them in with her.

[Cleric Gunnars: 100.]
Eeeyyy. This should be useful not only to pur dwarven relations, but also to give Mathilde one less possibility to worry about
The only thing manlings are better at than finding stupid new ways to die is somehow surviving them. As long as she doesn't jump into the middle of any other godly squabbles, she'll be fine. So I fully expect her to do it again by the end of the week."
And this bit is hilarious.

What to do with the money though? Buy out more Gong Farmers? Finally make our Smoke Knights? Make a secret underground base in our land?

Worried about ritual casting, but I just tend to be cautious with WHF magic, and even a basic casting could be pretty effective.

Also probably want something about what actions the Dawi should take to secure the approach while the Shadows are Burning. They'd probably appreciate having something in place for when it wears off (or just a backup plan in case the Manling magic explodes.)

That would be freaking awesome. That said, I'm not sure we can pull that scale off.
@BoneyM Can we have a IC estimation if this is plausible?

Also, we should probably figure out a backup plan, because it could just fizzle out. Preferably non-magical, because if things go wrong with plan A, magic might not be reliable.

One approach might be to get the Orks interested in another fight. Can something be done with the trolls?

So, sun rises in the East, perhaps we could sneak and skywalk to the top of the Citadel. Our shadow, cast by the morning sun, would be ridiculously huge. Could we then apply one of our touch-range shadow spell for area denial in the caldera?

@BoneyM Are there any demolitionists available, whether among the Rangers or similar?
Is it likely to be possible to blow up passages from the Caldera into the Citadel?

Hmm. Are we mostly looking at underground, or above-ground access up to the Citadel from Grobitown?

I stole it from Vermintide.

See, they won't. Hear, easily.

There's one about sixty meters from the Citadel entrance. The next two are about a couple hundred meters further than that.

That would be freaking awesome. That said, I'm not sure we can pull that scale off.

Plausible but your 'beam' will only be one Mathilde wide and it's not terribly effective on inanimate objects.

Hmm. Are we mostly looking at underground, or above-ground access up to the Citadel from Grobitown?

Gunpowder charges are simple enough to rig up and the Engineer can make it mostly safe, but without being able to examine the structure they can't give you better than two in three odds of it working to cave in the entrance.

Above-ground. Underground is a complete unknown.

Do the Dwarfs have some spikey Caltrops? Cause I imagine sneaking a few bags worth of that into the area between the Caldera and Citadel to detour any greenskin charges at the worst of times especially since Orks nor Goblins really wear shoes iirc and the fact the tribes are disjointed should mean even this small 'trick' should be helpful
