Counter Attack-Battle Turn 17

You line up your sights drawing a bead on the lead Machine. "Intercepting!"

[X] Flank them (Roll 2d100 (Shooting/Maneuver), Best of 4)

Flanking is the best chance we will get to take these guys down. With the three of us together we need to overwhelm the two coming towards us. I also have no intention of wasting time and putting ourselves or our allies at risk for that blank. Now is not the time to play hero.

The Fact these bastards stole the components needed for ECA is very much pissing me off. This stuff is military grade equipment it should not be easy for anyone to steal. Even raiding convoys shouldn't give them enough.

Hm. If anyone has a better statement for Alex to grumble about them surviving do to stolen equipment feel free to suggest it I'm not really good at dialogue tbh.
You can pick this as will as a "main option" if you also put in something for talking is a free action
Like so?

[X] With Backers like these who needs an R&D Division?
-[X] Flank them (Roll 2d100 (Shooting/Maneuver), Best of 4)
- [X] Can you hear me?
-[X] "So whose 'convoy' did you raid to get those anyways?"

Anyways I'm not seeing a reason not to pick the mystery dialogue as Alex appears to be awakening as a Newtype, and well we've already had a massive amount of invisible text pertaining to it. Like Amuro did the same after an intense battle iirc.

I think you meant to have "get" in there but yes

The reason not to waste time with the option is that it puts all of us at risk by splitting our attention. Also don't expect the same results that Amuro got to happen to us. We got luck the last time we had to rely on our newtype powers. Now is not the time to experiment if we want to expand our abilities it needs to be done in a controlled and monitored environment. This blank is not worth the risk to ourselves and our allies better to just kill them and deal with our newtype abilities later.

okay escalation dice is becoming bullshit...they rolled literally crits every fucking time...

*sighs*

are we ever going to get back to actually getting things done? because at this rate your making TZ into a super empire by this rate and we all fucking die to aliens because TZ are asshole-morons who cant comprehend a greater threat coming in to smash our faces in.

To be fair we have not actually announced how screwed and outnumbered we are to anyone outside of the highest military and government authorities. Though yeah the way things are going with TZ they are being pretty stupid in that nothing we do hurts them.

Are we really sure sure that True Zeon got their hands on ECA through convoy raiding? What if we still have TZ moles inside the federation, and one of those moles passed the ECA schematics and parts to TZ?
We really need to capture a member of Wolf Team for interrogation here, and I think our best bet would be to capture Wolf 3, considering that whoever they are, the only emotion that can be read from them through our Newtype powers is resignation, almost as if they do not want to be here, but that they have no choice in the matter...

They both have high stats but I will admit that this battle has gone on longer than I thought it would, the only solution I see that might work is to stop giving anyone other than us best of 3, witch I feel would skew things to far in our favor. In regards to battle turns anyway, nobody gets best of three in regular turns.

Again the invisible text is for the players benefit only no part of the visible text that has to do with Alex shows any reaction to the inviable text so she is not feeling anything. Same as she isn't hearing any of the comms that the enemy is saying that is also only for us the players so we get a feel for the overall battle. Unless the enemy talks directly to us or we hack their comms we hear nothing.

@manofjay Thanks for the correction. Also sorry about bothering you about this, but does the mental query part of my plan i.e "Can you hear me?" fall under the umbrella of talking is a free action?

In regards to the dice I don't have an issue with keeping the way it currently is.

Er you do realize Alex is hearing thoughts/emotions from an ever increasing amount of sources, which is going to be a tad distracting. Trying the opposite dosen't seem like a serious issue, and far more interesting from a narrative pov imo. I suppose I'll ask about it though.

Also waiting for a controlled environment sorta presumes it can be done without resorting to the methods Neo Zeon/EF got up to for their Newtypes programs.

There is a reason I said 'convoy' instead of convoy.

Also capturing one of them alive might give us an intact mobile suit would be useful for taking ideas Zeon used in their cutting edge mobile suits.

also is this the only battlefront for the TZ? if so then why aren't there more patrols skirmishing?

also if there are other fronts...why the hell aren't the aces there? I mean they keep pulling these guys out of the damn wood-work and they aren't retreating after suffering near crippling losses and losing Ace's left right front and center.

this makes no god-damn sense in a tactical and strategic sense, not to mention they have a huge-dumb-ass cannon that should be on the other side of the battle-field at its 80% range, so that way it can unleash its full-firepower despite any chance of our forces even managing to get there. Not to mention how can they keep on pulling this "SUPRISE" bullshit as well as stealing constant amount of MS suits AND supplies to keep feeding this "Army" of theirs?!? Unless they have a colony under their thumb they should not have the capabilities to maintain a actual army elements or having a massive fleet as they did unless Zeon IS funding them.

Also their manpower? Are they Vat-Growing people and throwing them into MS suits after brainwashing them to adult-hood in mere months without any ethical concerns (like even living for 1-2 years before expiring painfully and slowly?) because that's the only way I can keep seeing TZ get these ridiculous forces.

I'm sorry if I'm coming off rude, but I'm TRYING to make at least some form of sense on why TZ has kept on throwing ace in the holes every damn time as well as wasting resources on surprise projects that never really do more then last a single battle or two before exploding.

Then there's the fact they keep getting Ace level pilots. Yes I understand that this is gundam, but getting to Ace level on training alone is tough, and without battle experience your not going to last long. So for now I will see what's happening next...

Just getting tired of TZ getting constant reinforcements out of bloody nowhere.

Again no Alex is not. Nothing in the actual text has her reacting at all to the invisible text. It is there for player benefit only same as how the players see the enemy comms but the actual units fighting do not know what they are saying. If anyone is feeling/hearing anything it is the blank not Alex and of the ones to capture she is the worst option since she would have little to no viable infromation. As for narrative a better narrative is not risking the lives of your allies to try something stupid which considering Alex's guilt flaw is more in line with her character. And without a desperate war neither side is going to rush their newtype researchers and develop stupidly unstable people that only hurt themselves and the actual understanding of newtypes.

Hm. Something to keep in mind is if TZ has access to Macross cloning technology they can create full grown clones complete with military, and well judging by the fact that they had all the shiny hardware of Zeon while being a result of a natural one... True Zeon is probably the elite core of a fighting force Zeon was building up to conquer the EF eventually. Hence why once of their stated founding goals is to get Zeon to declare war on the EF.

also is this the only battlefront for the TZ? if so then why aren't there more patrols skirmishing?
This is only one of three attacks by TZ all occurring at the same time.

this makes no god-damn sense in a tactical and strategic sense, not to mention they have a huge-dumb-ass cannon that should be on the other side of the battle-field at its 80% range, so that way it can unleash its full-firepower despite any chance of our forces even managing to get there. TZ has a fixed number of resources that grows and shirks with their successes and failures. There is more than meets the eye to how they're keeping funded however. This will be explored next turn. Project Doppelganger will also be explored in following turns.

I'm sorry if I'm coming off rude, but I'm TRYING to make at least some form of sense on why TZ has kept on throwing ace in the holes every damn time as well as wasting resources on surprise projects that never really do more then last a single battle or two before exploding.
TZ has never sent an ace (up until today) into a battle they didn't think they would get them back from. This battle has also been going far longer than TZ wanted as well.

@Paloneia, and @VoidZero Any chance you're willing to swap to my horribly named plan as the invisible text appears to more of a talking action seeing as combining them is possible when we put something in for "Talking is a free action".
