Gotta go with the 'Spelunking solo is very risky. Spelunking solo in possibly giant man-rat infested tunnels doubly so.' crowd.
Bringing back a few experienced Dwarf Rangers on shadowsteeds once the army is little closer makes a lot more sense.

Normally I would be totally against going into some dark and likely filled with gribblies cave but we're a Grey wizard we thrive in the confusing underground where we can easily hide, go invisible/intangible, or turn into a balrog.

Especially with all of the protective artifacts and magic arsenal we know and possess, it'd be a shame not to push farther. Odds are decent we can look a little deeper into the entrance and survive whatever's there.

The tunnel withstood a few thousand years of greenskins and skaven. If there was something to trigger, it's triggered long time ago.Unless we trigger a dwarf-made defence mechanism and collapse the tunnel behind us, fall down a deep shaft or just get lost in the darkness...
