Im guessing it's due to the arguments against the other choices, such as Chronicler carrying a large responsibility, and also how the wanderer choice reflect Mathilde quite well right now.

She just lost Van Hal and her 8 year job. She also finished her Magister test. What's the next big thing she's going to do? That's the big question and the wanderer kinda reflects that well. She's pretty much aimless at this point and it could easily be seen that her helping the Dwarf not only to pay back their help, but also the most interesting action she could do at this point.

It would be nice if she can find some higher purpose or someone to serve again during this adventure to Karak Eight Peaks, cause she works the best when she has a specific goal in mind.

Regrowth item is fun enough for recruitment in future. We find some skilled veteran who is out of business because he or she lacks a couple of limbs, use Regrowth and enjoy a loyal follower. I'm afraid it'll be a hell to recharge, though.

I'm not terribly greedy for dispels because we'll be getting runepriests who can dispel like a pro.

Just outside Belegar Ironhammer's camp a group of riders, Anton one of them, meets Belegar's council, you included. Belegar wants someone to explain what's with a sizeable army rolling up clouds of dust a few miles away.

"Hey! Mathilde, you know what, you wouldn't believe it! The night after you left I won myself a steward in poker. Name's Gab, very skilled, very charismatic and she speaks very highly of you. I'm not even good at poker! Sometimes it's just luck is on your side."

"Anyway", he talks to Belegar now who is slowly starting to boil, "remember me? I'm Anton, you've seen me at Elector's meet. I wanted to talk to you in private, have a keg of ale or two but you left in such a hurry. You know, it's just all a big misundertanting. With house chores taken care of, I went here and talked there and it turned out that a lot of people want to help you, they just couldn't catch you in time to offer it. So yeah, take a look, nine thousand men and enough supplies to last them half a year. I sent a letter to Asarnil and he's willing to give you a discount too if you're up for that."

Like a scary woman with a crown of fire.

Not being sarcastic or anything, that's literally what the spells do. Dread Aspect makes you look scary but not like anything in particular, and Crown of Fire is a literal Crown of Fire.

I am not certain, but i dont think regrowth can be used on injuries long healed? Someone correct me if I am wrong.
 
I hope we get a chance to mingle with the other mercenaries and adventurers before we set off, maybe meet some interesting characters and get a chance to show off/earn the respect of a few of them.

Regrowth's ability makes me wonder why the Empress wasn't healed with it. Perhaps it has an adverse effect on women who are pregnant.

Or perhaps that's just another point in favor of the Colleges wanting her dead.

Regrowth needs to be applied at most just a few minutes after death. Unless they just so happened to have a Wizard Lord on hand, they couldn't have gotten to her in time.
