Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

She definitely has some sort of experience with nobles, but Ling Qi's mother honestly seems too impressed and shocked by the names that we drop for me to take the idea that she has had contact or experience with anyone that matters seriously. All the advice that she could possibly give us should be pretty obvious at this point, if she had more to offer than 'don't say something stupid, nobles are dangerous' then I expect that the name drops would have startled it out of her by now.

Well, performance issues, it's not uncommon. One out of five...
Goddamit @Theunderbolt
Now I can't unsee that.

Ling Qi has a thing for playing Catch with the children of powerful spirits?
Here are some points about cultivation in the following ten weeks.

1. Do you want Appraisal?
Nope. Doesn't seem worth it yet
2. Do you want an archive art?
FSA+ is on my menu. It's a pretty low hanging fruit training wise.
3. Do you want to max a particular art suite? If you find yourself demanding one particular art atop your list, you should know that we will have to drop something. Basically your art suite cannot include ALL of AM5(6)/TRF5(6)/AC5(3)/AC4(2)/AE4(3)/AS4(1)/AS3(2)/FSS3/FVM6/SCS6/PLR2. Listed in brackets are the minimum number of actions saved if that art level is avoided. There aren't enough actions to finish everything, my guess is we'll need to free up ~7-10 actions when all the dust clears given that we've had action-eating priorities come up over and over and also given that we won't be laying down optimal training plans. If we get lucky and we train optimally and we get lucky with training successes, we might be able to just squeak by with everything listed, but it isn't going to happen.
Lets see...
-Argent Mirror 5 - Low priority. Our spiritual defense is good enough that I'm pretty sure only Meizhen is a significant threat. It doesn't add any elemental meridians to our strongest, so it doesn't support our Flying Sword

-Argent Current 4/5 - Low priority, but it IS cheap, it adds to breaking through armor builds(but FSA+ is likely better at it)and it adds Water meridians if we want to do that type of flying sword.

-Argent Storm 3/4 - Medium priority. I think I do want 3rd level in it at least for the defensive benefits making it even harder to hit Ling Qi, not sure if we can finish it if we lose access to Han Jian by promoting before we hit 4(someone check Word of Yrs)?

-Sable Crescent Step 6 - High-Medium priority as a Green level defensive/mobility art. If we want to actually contend with the monsters this is a must. Possibly Phantasmagoria of Lunar Revelry levels can replace maxing it out tactically, but completed arts are POWERFUL.

-Forgotten Vale Melody 6 - High personal priority as practically our iconic art, though it'd be of limited power in the Duel portion of the finals, forcing opponents to repeatedly dispel it is a good strategy for us.

-Phantasmagoria of Lunar Revelry 2 - Low priority, but thats mostly because it's too immature at present. I doubt the second level would overcome the native flaws yet in time for the tournament, and so it waits for after SCS.

-Frozen Soul Serenade 3 - Medium priority. It's tactically there for the single target version of FVM, so its pretty valuable in the duel phase. Competing in a similar role with FSA+.

-Abyssal Exhalation 3/4 - Low priority. I personally like this art, but I'm not seeing how we can make it get high enough to work out by the tournament given the broad distaste/push against it from some players.

-Thousand Ring Fortress 5 - High priority. TRF 5 + SCS 6 are probably how we'd survive against potentially facing Sun or Ji Rong in the finals. And makes it more likely that we can go through the earlier rounds entirely unharmed

4. Do you want to make room for FVM7 or FSS4?
Too big a gamble. Pass.

No, what we've got to do is wait for Heizui to start flirting with Ling Qi.

At which point, we go to Meizhan for help/relationship advice.

Ling Qi: "Hypothetically speaking..."

Meizhan: *Takes very deep breath*

Ling Qi: "What should I do about a dragon flirting with me?"

Meizhan: "......Where and how did you meet a dragon?"

Ling Qi: "Oh, Heizui was in this vale that's an amazing cultivation site. I kinda wanted it so I challenged Heizui for the right to cultivate there and ran around him until he ran out of qi. Then I showed up, played music for him while I cultivated, and then we came to the present problem."

Meizhan: "I don't even know where to start picking out everything wrong with what you just said."
Start with "this always happens"?

I'm curious on why a lot of plans have us taking Su Ling whom, while she would benefit a lot from the White Room, isn't banking on needing short term gains to improve her situation, while Lan Lan needs every scrap of might she can muster?

[X] Plan Filial Piety or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Piss in the Wind

Not because I particularly favor Gu Tai - I don't, I actually am leaning towards the Cai route - but because for us to need to address the offer, she has to actually make the offer. She hasn't officially offered us anything yet and I would prefer if she wants us for her to come to us as opposed to the other way around. Or at the very least to wait one more week before we go after her.

And as mentioned, it's possible there's something important in mom's past that could at least influence the issue. I don't think it's too likely, but signing on with Cai is a pretty big decision with repercussions not just for us but also our family, and we did suggest that we wanted to discuss things with our mother in regards to big clan decisions.

I agree, but it's would be an uphill battle to change it right now.
Let's try.

I remember reading in the pages post-HJ-Golden-Fields-action that Ling Qi and Han Jian don't need to check each other to progress in each others' Argent arts anymore. However that works, I'm not sure. But I imagine it's two actions for each art-sharing to be complete, at least for arts this short.

Mostly it's inertia from one or two early planmakers making that decision on their own, and it being grandfathered in and not minded too much by voters after that, at least until someone notices and makes a stink. It's in the same vein as stuff like 'share windblown fields with the Ma sisters' and various other pet subvotes.

Anyway, I am pleasantly surprised to find pissing in the wind to be marginally more popular than 'defiant action with not much more rationale behind it than simply to be defiant' has any right to be.

[X] Plan Open Door Mission
[X] Plan Filial Piety or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Piss in the Wind

I do want to get a sect mission this week, though. That's probably the most important thing for me other than sneaking in another action with Gu Tai.

I am against any plan that takes Su Ling to the white room, she does not need it as she is not going to compete in the tournament.

which is unfortunately all the leading plans.

Guess i will wait before voting.

While it lacks the Xiulan minor it has her use the white room.

Ok, sure. I would rather do Shambling Terror though - any particular reason you're going for Lost and Found @SynchronizedWritersBlock? I'd note that if we're going to be getting a cheap flying sword to use in the meantime, then we should be aiming for as much combat as possible. If we don't use it before we finish the moon quest, then it could just be a waste of RS.
[X] Plan Open Door Mission

Regarding Su Ling... This plan has a better reason for it in that we need something to attach Su Ling's minor too. I'm also kind of with @Arkeus's argument that it feels like we're ripping her off here with just some AC tutoring for 100 RS, so giving her a bit more is alright. That's the only real justification I can think of though, so I wouldn't do it past this week.

For Cai, while I do feel that putting her off more isn't really on, I am also open to delaying for a week so we can talk to our mother first. I think this is reasonable based off filial piety as long as we're open about it. If we do so, however, we should at least tack on a free action to apologise for the delay and explain ourselves (and, yes, locking ourselves into the action for next week).

My read is that Lost and Found has a better chance at stealth sux than Shambling Terror, and I'm not convinced that our moon quest will provide them in the investigative stage. The reason I say this is not only is it good to sneak up on the spirit, but the mission says specifically that it's riled up local spirits, which draws similarities to Appease the Forest in that it might have multiple stages. The Shambling Terror indeed will probably have more combat, but seems less likely to involve more than one stealth roll.

Eh, as long as we get 1 stealth roll out of the moon quest, and 1 out of the mission, we're fine. I'm fairly comfortable that we can get two rolls between them.

Frankly, if we aren't doing Shambling Terror I'd argue that we shouldn't buy a flying sword this week. Which I'd also be fine with.

Here is what Ling Qi thought when we traded with Han Jian
week 40 part 2 said:
She parted ways with Han Jian after a couple hours of work and study, satisfied with the explanation… and her new understanding of Argent Storm, she would be able to cultivate it to completion on her own now.
It didn't have to do with numbers of actions, I think, rather than Han Jian really wanted access to AM5 and so shared AS5.
Not a fan. You're essentially sacrificing training Zhengui and formations - which could both be core parts of our strategy - for 1 major. I don't think that's worth it.

If we were going closed door, I'd put Cai off for a week with a filial piety excuse, drop Sixiang, and do Zhengui/Suyin/Su Ling as our minors.

Alternatively... We could do tutoring. Do white room with Su Ling and attach her minor to that, and sacrifice our other attached minor for it. Problem there though is that we don't really have anything to pair with TRF other than AM or going for a support art from the archives, so we wouldn't ne able to do it this week easily...
Mmmh, you are right. I'd say do Xiulan instead of Suyin though, simply because it gives us that information we need on inner sect.

@Waffle, @Crimson Soul, switching my plan:
[X] Plan Dancing and Hunting.
-[X] Overflow to spiritual, vent drip to AC, Grinning Moon successes to PLR
-[X] Closed door cultivation.

-[X] Cultivate in the White Room
--[X] (MAJOR) Open Lung Meridian
--[X] With Su Ling
-[X] Train with Xiulan
--[X] (MAJOR) PLR
--[X] (attached minor) Xiulan seems to know a fair amount about the inner Sect from her sister, see what stories she has to tell.
-[X] Train at the vent with Su Ling
--[X] (MAJOR) TRF
--[X] (attached minor) Fulfill your offer with Su Ling, train her in Argent Current for another silverblood pill
-[X] (MAJOR) Take a job: Shambling Terror
-[X] (minor) Train Zhengui in the Vale, and keep an eye on him, the little glutton.

I've also switched the Lost and Found Job for the Shambling Terror one, as it seems to be more popular, and it's true that both it and moon quest are likely to give us a single roll, so it should do fine overall in the week.

Ok, I feel that people might be rushing into buying a flying sword. At the very least, if we get one it entails committing ourselves to a particular course of action which isn't actually common in the current plans.

Currently, people are going for a cheap sword to use temporarily while we wait to see what the moon quest gives us. The quest could be done this week, but more likely it's going to take at least two weeks (Renshu took 3). It might just give us a flying weapon, or perhaps more likely we could get useful resources or materials with which to get a better flying weapon. If this was commissioned, then it could be several weeks more, and we could be looking at perhaps 6 weeks until we have our "dream" flying sword.

Now, obviously if we have many weeks with our cheap sword we're likely to get much more value out of it. If we finish the quest in, say, two weeks though and it gives us a flying sword then our cheap sword was possibly just a waste of stones.

The justification of spending the stones on a temporary sword is inherently dependent on how much we use it before we replace it. Thus, if we want to get it then we should be looking to get into as many fights as possible over the next few weeks - otherwise it's just a waste. In practical terms, what this means is that we should be looking for combat missions.

tldr; if a plan is buying a cheap flying sword and NOT also doing Shambling Terror, I would argue that the plan is doing it wrong.
