Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

SCS benefits more from flat bonuses like EPC gives same like what we would get from a virtual stone, so it is more efficient per action to train something else for now while we don't have the bonus.
Conversely, training FSS without Zequing is also less efficient than only training it with her. Sometimes perfect efficiency is less important than speed.

[X] Plan Lunar Arts
-[X] Overflow to spiritual, vent drip to AS, EPC successes to SCS
-[X] Use 2 virtual and 2 regular YSS (20), 10 dice Moon pills (40), 5 dice Music pills (15), 5 dice Water pills (10), Heavy Rains Pill (15), (total 100 rss)
-[X] Cultivate in the White Room
--[X] Leg Meridian
--[X] With Xiulan
--[X] (Attached Minor) Perhaps Xiulan could use some help. Track down her training ground and see what she's been up too.
-[X] Train Music arts with Zeqing
--[X] FVM
-[X] Hire a Tutor (30 sect points)
--[X] EPC/occult
--[X] PLR/expression
-[X] Attempt to placate the Dragon of the Valley
-[X] Take a job
--[X] Tournament Preparations

-[X] (Minor) Invite Meizhen out shopping, you could use some advice for what to look for in flying swords
-[X] (Minor) You… should probably look into what Sixiang is actually doing. The spirit did follow you home.
-[X] (Minor) Zhengui's efforts are coming along well, but Gu Tai mentioned that he might be able to help, take him up on it

There is a single reason to go with this plan: I want to meet another moon cultivator.

We tutor both our moon arts not for the dice bonus (although it does help since EPC may overflow to spiritual if there's a quest), but to make a connection with another moon cultivator in the inner sect and figure out what other things moon cultivators do. Since we're possibly going in to a moon quest, I feel that information will also inform on the potential choice we'll have to make.

I think it will be interesting conversation, and this is probably the only week we have where we have two moon arts available to tutor. We aren't likely to try for EPC6, so again, this is the only time this particular combination will be viable.

I've noticed some people arguing to hold off on PLR but I don't agree with that. We want to know what the heck it does, what cultivation level it is, what meridian it takes at later levels, what its 2nd+ level xp progression looks like, and so on. Those factors are far more important than the handful of dice or successes we might get from EPC5. Given that we might get a moon quest at EPC5, should we also hold off until we finish that? It's just not worth it, especially not for the first level of the art.

e: And I'm perfectly willing to change the tutor skills, just tell me to what considering that they need to fit together somehow (so like, expression/larceny seems no good just as an example).

[X] Plan Sneaking Terror

Any reason why we haven't start buying green stone?
We already did. Next discount stone is Week 43.

It has both the white manual with Suyin as well as a Gu Tai interaction which I'm tending to be a fan of. Don't really care for the bug eyed rainbow hair one but alas.

The one thing that really disappoints me about Efficient Music is that it delays the Cai minor that I begrudgingly accepted the delay of last week. We finally increased our relationship with her, now we have the chance to get close enough to her for Qi to even be able to make the choice. That is something that Qi is IC delaying on, past the point wjere Cai said she would ask again. These minors will be indicate to Qi whether she is someone who is worth her loyalty in the first place, we have to do this to get the choice, and we have already been delaying it. I wanna drop the Su Ling training and instead have a Meizhen training with her attached minor, to squeeze in Cai, which I just might do.

We don't have enough Zeqing training actions to work on both FSS and FVM the entire way, so that is a moot point.

Also, what is the urgency on SCS? It seems like one of our less urgent arts to train, particularly since we are going to be directing stealth successes to it.

I wouldn't mind changing the job or indeed FSS, but I much prefer the minor attachment here.

Edit: but no Cai minor. Dammit.

I really dislike the current attempts by people to attach the Tai/Zhengui minor to a mission. It doesn't make sense at all to drag him along on a mission, missions are not really the best place right now for training Zhengui anyway - especially when we're getting advice from Tai and focusing on the interactions there.

Finishing art woth tutors might make them better according to the thread.

Also I would like to meet another moon cultivator too.

I don't put much stock in that. It doesn't seem likely to me. As I said with the plan, the entire reason for this arrangement is a social/narrative opportunity that won't happen again until after the tournament. Nothing more.

I presume you have the same thoughts about potentially attaching to the dragon major?

I like this because I don't like the cheesiness of trying to attach Gu Tai to a sect mission and I want to put Cai behind us.

Yup.

Frankly, most of our minors right now don't attach well. The only ones that do are Su Ling and Xiulan. Maybe Suyin, but really if we're going to be talking to Xuan Shi about formations it's not really the usual "hang out doing misc training at vent" anymore. Maybe Sixiang on moon arts, but we'd need to check that with @yrsillar.

Honestly, the whole attached minor system is being increasingly annoying. Heck, look at last week! We had EPC attached to Su Ling yet in the update they were completely unconnected. The system isn't working well, and is mostly just pushing us to try and abuse it.

Seems a poor reason to complain to plan makers about making the best out of it.

For me, Gu Tai attaches spectacularly well to the dragon minor. Not only should Zhengui have some focus when trying to befriend another spirit beast, but part of starting an entirely new house is being able to make nice with the local spirits. If Gu Tai can't at least offer some advice, then I question sending him out to tame a patch of wild desert.

Honestly, I don't like it, but the plan maker just doesn't want a Renxiang action, and I'd rather not split the vote when the rest of the actions are satisfactory.

"Ha, I'm not so sure about that," Han Jian replied, shaking his head. He glanced over at Han Fang, who nodded back once, heading for the entrance to the training yard. Ling Qi watched him go for a moment. She had never gotten to know the silent boy, and she regretted that a little, he seemed like a reliable sort. "I honestly don't see myself breaking through before time runs out, so I've decided to more fully develop my arts," she turned her attention back to him as he spoke up again, dismissing the idle thought.
Well that's strange! To my understanding, Han Jian's Talent lies several steps behind of Kang Zihao, who has only recently broken through to the third realm. If he worked hard at it, and took advantage of the White Room, Han Jian could probably break through to at least Bronze by tournament time. He's the counterpart to Kang Zihao, after all, as Gan Guangli and Ling Qi are the counterparts to Lu Feng and Ji Rong.

Though, he might be wary of forcing himself, after his many failures breaking through to Yellow/Silver. By firming up his art foundation, as he probably didn't for his second realm breakthrough, and using the White Room to bring him closer to, but not past, the brink of breakthrough... He should have been one of the top contenders of the year. With the remainder of this year spent on his foundation, his chances next year are sky-high. If Xiulan doesn't pass this year, the entire Golden Fields group might be able to take up fully half of the available spaces on their own.

"Yeah," Han Jian replied simply. "Yu is a good guy at heart… but I'm worried he's going to crash and burn, I'm trying to keep his spirits up, but there's only so much I can do if he doesn't want it himself."
This is a striking quote, placed in comparison to what we thought was going on earlier in the year. Before, we thought Han Jian disliked Fan Yu, only staying together because their fathers demanded it. Now, it seems Han Jian holds some affection for Fan Yu, if only because he's so pitiful in both bearing the brunt of Gu Xiulan's fury and in his lacking cultivation.

Also... if Fan Yu's despondency continues, even to next year. Gu Xiulan doesn't even need to demonstrate her surpassing talent and ability to her family to break off the engagement. Provided both their trajectories remain the same, Fan Yu's family will break it off for her, as Fan Yu proves to be a drag and waste of resources.

That aside though, Han Jian made no effort to conceal the fact that the Golden Fields was a harsh place, further east one went, the toxic and poisonous the lands outside clan territory became. The earth itself was tainted with sun and death qi, cultivators below the third realm who ventured out unprotected into the poison sands could quickly sicken and die, their meridians catching fire and their flesh rotting from their bones, and even higher cultivators could grow ill without regular cleansing. It took great effort from the clans to maintain their borders and prevent the poison from spreading back into cleansed lands, which was why actual expansion was such a generational affair.
Important things to note for the Gu Route:
  • Abandon all thoughts on expanding our holdings in land area terms. It's simply impossible, and we're going to be struggling to hold what we have in the first place.
  • The ruin exploration of the route is locked behind high cultivation. Ling Qi can be expected to be Cyan by the time she actually comes to settle there, but in the meantime, we can't expect much more than trinkets to come from Gu Tai during our time in the Sect military.
  • It's entirely possible that we'll eventually make our house on Zhengui's back and travel in style around our territory. Mobile Fortress Zhengui is entirely within the cards, and possibly something the Gu will provide concessions for during negotiations.
  • Suyin is going to have her hands supremely full cleansing the toxins from Ling Qi's and Gu Tai's body. If Meizhan will have a bad reaction to what Suyin currently does massaging breakthrough-backlash from Ling Qi, she'll flip at the handmaiden/wife/husband threesome medical play.

"Nah, this is just punishment detail." She looked back to the other girl, who had taken the opportunity to catch her breath. "What'd we learn today?"

"To follow the plan," Ma Lei replied, between ragged breaths, her tone good natured despite the grumbling. "...and that I can't stop a Centennial Crag Boar head on yet."
Aww! Su Ling has her own minions! Now that's definitely adorable. (Also, this shows the wonders of delegation. Now that the Ma sisters are under Su Ling, this removes one (1) minor from our minor hell! We still have oh god too many, but that's oh god too many minus 1!)

The running tracker of minions bonds: Ling Qi --> Suyin --> Su Ling --> Ma sisters.

The song that flowed from her flute was a happier one than her usual fare. It spoke of first meetings and admiration, of growing safety and confidence, sheltered by another's strength. It spoke of affection and repayment, a desire to stand as equals, to support and be supported. Her music spoke of all these things and so much more echoing out over the clear water of the lake.
Oh this is beautiful. Especially since, with the Music meridian, Ling Qi is dooting it directly into Meizhan's soul. If Ling Qi's friendship with Meizhan continues to the time when Ling Qi needs to create her own arts to advance, I really think this song should form the foundation of an art. At least, it's fundamentally about one of the cores of Ling Qi's burgeoning Domain.

I expect one of the bottlenecks in the progression through Third Realm is the art suite: without a coherent art suite matching your Domain, you simply are unable to create the Foundation, Framing, Fortification, etc. In other words, without a foundation of similar arts, a cultivator simply becomes unable to develop their domain according to their desires. Thus, a song -- an art -- based on the people who Ling Qi regards as Family will probably be a necessity sometime in the future.

(I wonder what song Ling Qi will make of the people who helped her, even those she left, like that old man that gave her blankets, or that boy she abandoned, or even Han Jian? It's more suited to the bonfire Domain choice, but Ling Qi's mental and emotional health might be better if she remembered everyone who helped her. Her aesthetics currently might be a cozy house in the middle of a dark storm, but perhaps her hearth will be warmer if fed with all her relationships rather than just her closest?)

Hm. Maybe a music version of Argent Current? Or, well, not AC as in a punchy offensive supporty art, but take some ideas from that. The idea that each person makes the other stronger, gives them room to grow, and a shoulder to rest on? Take healing/recovery from TRF and the shared strength component from AC and layer it in a song, maybe a yin fire/wood art or water/wood?

Something like those?

--[X] PLR/ Academics- Moon domain
--[X] EPC/ Occult- Moon spirits

[X] Plan Lunar Arts

Occult is a good one, will use that. We do need to train occult, if we're going to be doing a lot of spirit shenanigans, but not many arts allow for occult tutoring.

I'm not too into academics for PLR, since I think expression is a fine tutoring subject now that we have no cap, nor does it really suit a party art.

De-x those two though, it'll muck with the tally.

is it just me or did this Meizhen scene make you think of Meizhen giving this pearl of wisdom to her child or younger clansmen when she's older

anonymous young clansmen: Honorable Elder is there any wisdom you may depart in my time in the inner sect.

Meizhen: Never fall in love with a Musician, that path will likely lead to heart break.

anonymous young clansmen: ....

Ooo, here's an idea: we're going shopping for flying swords - are we going to be able to get one this week? And if so, could we have a write-in training action with Meizhen?

@yrsillar? Would this be possible?
