You are one of those specific advisors. But if you want to start delegating, you can try to seek out people worthy of the incredible amount of power you'll be handing them.
Well, I meant that in those quests, the advisors themselves commonly have staff/departments etc. But yes, loyalty and competence vetting... I guess one potential candidate for a regional network head is that loyal guard captain we met.

Still, the scaling problem applies. So... if not lieutenants everywhere, some sort of cell based informant network? How can we, as players, make sure that once we set up the network it doesn't take actions for info to arrive? And to become... self-sustaining? Or some other way of scaling...

About six more years worth, at the current rate of payments. I'm not going to nail down an exact figure because I'm not going to juggle compound interest.

Can I convince you to switch to my Plan? Reduces the embezzlement meaningfully, doesn't throw away fifty magical weapons, adds some home improvements. Otherwise all that grassroots goodness.

Updated plan.

I'm not too concerned with the magic weapons as we really to not have AP for it. Looking at more recent QM post puts those magic weapons at about ~600 regular weapons in terms of value; which is quite a sum but that's the Count's problem. :p

But both are about the same.

That was the value for "just magic enough to count as magic", literally nothing else. Any real magical effect would likely make the price go up an order of magnitude, as we wouldn't be buying apprentice-made failures.

At that point you are talking "equipping a small army" values.

Veekie also lowers the embezzlement without doing anything. 75->50 doesn't change the "danger level". Need to be 35 to change to "virtually blameless".

That guard captain might be a good start for an agent who can gather intel in his region and pass it along, yes.

One other thing that might work would be asking Sir Markus von Pfaffbach (whose loyalty to Stirland is almost certainly very high, and who seems to like us) if he can recommend anyone reliable to serve as our lieutenant in Wurtbad itself and coordinate local, above-board intelligence gathering so that we can focus on more skullduggery-aligned intrigue and running all over the county to maintain far-flung intel networks. That means actions like coordinating with the Watch, doing background checks on the castle servants, and getting reports from the local guilds could be assigned to someone he recommends, while we do something like spend one action slot on support/oversight for their actions instead of three action slots on doing it all ourselves. The people that he knows well enough to trust with the job are almost certainly primary Martial, but he can pick out whoever seems highest-Intrigue to him out of them and when dealing with official, relatively open intelligence gathering that's less likely to be a serious downside.

It's not ideal, but it's an option that would let us get someone and get them now. We might even be able to staple such a query onto our current action set as something to bring up while training with him.

Kasmir, tend to your flock. Find out which God every soldier and servant within these walls answers to.

-[ ] Personally vet everyone that works in the castle, and replace everyone you're not sure of the loyalties of.
I wonder if there would be any synergy in doing this action along with Kasmir?

Also about the weapons you guys are acting like getting 2 or 3 out of fifty is a terrible deal since we're losing about 47 magical weapons but the thing is we may not have 50 magical weapons but rather 50 magical Chaos weapons which we might not notice since we're barely an enchanter.

So about 500 gold to get free and clear. rough estamate.

-[X] As Per Orders: Perform your current assignment.
--[X] Wurtbad, inevitably, has criminals. And you're a follower of Ranald. Maybe you could reach an understanding - they'd have access to a huge amount of information, though it would mean tacit approval of their activities.
    ---[X] Ranald's Blessing
--[X] You're from peasant stock yourself, so it shouldn't be too hard to make friends and contacts among the peasantry in the villages surrounding Wurtbad; Julbach, Biderhof and Tarshof.
    -[X] Backtracking and Side Operations:
--[X] Van Hal is interrogating the Von Stolpes. Sitting in may be helpful to him, and educational to you.
--[X] A large number of Shyish-stained weapons were uncovered from the Barrow. Perhaps you should:
---[X] Keep them in a lead-lined steel box, fastened to the floor, inside the treasury.
-[X] Self-Improvement: Things have been going well so far, but the skills of a Journeyman Grey Mage can only go so far.
--[X] Pretty Good Swords: You've struck up a friendship with the Champion of the Greatswords and have discovered a talent for wielding them. Continue to cultivate this.
--[X] You only really kept in practice with a handful of the petty and minor magics you were taught. Maybe you should brush up on the others.
-[X] Home Comforts: Your Palace-Shrine is bursting with potential. And also mud.
--[X] No Place Like Home: Move in furniture, set up a chimney, put in the effort to make sure that your new home actually feels like a home and not like sleeping in an underground mud cave.
--[X] Diggy Diggy Hole, Outsourced: Pay someone to do the digging, then Mindhole them on their way out. (no action required, -personal gold)
    -[X] Change tithe payment/loan payment/embezzlement (specify)
--[X] Embezzlement to 35 gold per turn.

-[x] This is Stirland. Time to bone up on your knowledge of the Undead.

Cutting down embezzlement to casual levels is the way to go IMHO. A witch hunter is prone to investigating both those he dislikes, and those he likes.

I want to improve our relationship with Kasmir since having a Sigmar warrior priest can be really hand especially when dealing with idiots or zeolots who need some snice knocked into them preferably with a war hammer

That seems good. Ideally what we end up with saves us action-economy by letting us act at a larger scale. Not costing us, because problems get dumped at our doorstep with the expectation we'll fix them (i.e. just an information network). Which means... trusted lieutenants with initiative and authority, who we can direct with free actions.

@BoneyM chances we have any (Grey?) Wizard buddies graduating around now and looking for a job? :) Bonus for a Grey Wizard- we can't pay that well, so you won't get rich!

Grey wizards have an oath of poverty remember and I'm pretty sure we don't have the authority to hire more wizards

Journeymen don't get assigned Journeymen. Once you reach the rank of Magister, then you can start taking on Apprentices and sending word to the Grey College that you've got a good assignment here for a new Journeyman to cut their teeth on.

Before anyone asks, the way to graduate would be that once you feel like you've proved yourself both magically and in deed, you return to the Grey College (two actions) and are Tested.

Ah, well. Deed like... knocking over a (Vampire?) Necromancer in Drakenfells? Or is that... overkill?
