Related to all this, I can picture us keeping quiet about Earth and when the other races finally manage to locate and catch a glimpse of it it's just entirely a green rock, with orbitals (rings and/or space lifts) all over mining it. Like, we move off Earth because it's just entirely overrun with Tib and our designated mining op because we don't want to even try controlled spread of Tib elsewhere. Would have some neat contrast with the Quarians.

What do you actually see us doing in ME? Cause I see a lot of growing tall, researching Eezo, and fortifying. We have no cause to fight anyone, the Batarians will take a lot less swings at a tall, fortified neighbor than canon, we'd care fuck all about the Terminus systems besides maybe hunting Nod, and the Citadel would probably like our tech- but won't fight a war over it and we could endure anything less. There would be some diplomatic juggling, and I'm sure the reapers could get forced in somewhere complete with GDI Commando!Shepard- but it doesn't honestly sound nearly as fun as knife fighting a crazy religious fanatic as you desperately try to clean up the planet before magic rocks eat you both.

One solution to keeping the pressure cooker running is if the GM simply alters where the nearest Relay connects to.

Like, say, deep in the Terminus. Maybe be neighbors with the Batarians.

It's someone GDI could stand up against without either side getting steamrolled. And the Council can be kept largely out of the conflict by the Batarians simply not talking because they don't want to share potential loot.

So the rest of the galaxy hears about the Batarians fighting some minor power they discovered. And thats terrible. But fuck it, its the Terminus. Who cares.

Once the Batarians are losing we are probably gonna be rebranded as Rachni 2.0 when they try to drag the Council into the War.

Or something like that. There are a lot of options if Earth starts in a rough neighborhood.

Getting into a fight with the Heretic Geth is another option that keeps out the major powers while the players can't just turtle up.

Our biggest priorities would be to be left alone, and to prevent the crazy magical space rock of ours from getting off the leash.
The Brotherhood of Nod is more than happy to share the promise of tiberium with the galaxy! Even more so if the aliens happen to be assholes. GDI will never halt our efforts to harness the green crystal! As an aside I think Tunchaktka would greatly benefit from some tiberium introduced into the ecosystem.

I kind of wonder how the ME races would react to the stuff though. Either curiosity or horror would be my best guess.

The odds of an Eden Prime with significantly higher population not having a defense grid, or defensive fleet are slim, and chances are good there won't be a first contact war to radicalize Saren.
A first contact war is something that could be more likely than before simply because GDI is going to build defenses and be rather trigger happy when it comes to unfriendly aliens.

The notion the command economy with an eye for defensibility is going to expand harder and more dispersed than the free market driven, wild cat prospecting, pioneering federation of nation states is about as ass backwards as it gets tbh.
More that there will be a larger part of the population willing to go to some new colony. The government would also be much more inclined to support and fund colonies simply because they want people off earth.

The other obvious option would be Halo I suppose, though Halo tends to have a very direct story with little diplomatic ambiguity before the Covenant fractures.

A turbocharged independence movement with shades of NOD in it would be horrifying.

Also I'd think Nods stealth tech as compared to Covenant stealth tech, well, puts us ahead in one area with countermeasures. Puts us ahead in several measures actually. The big main trade off I could see being A, much lower numbers of humans and no earth. Plus, Nod colonies being all independent and shit.

I do think either GDI in mass effect or halo would work for either one.

Look on the bright side, if NOD can get its hooks into the Covenant they'd probably make it explode from a turbocharged Unggoy Rebellion in like, a year.

Good news- rolling stock finished so we have cap goods to cover the shipyard. Also nat 100 on the sole enterprise dice, flipside nat 1 on the asteroid probes

Right, the reason Mass Effect got picked is broadly 3 things.
1. A detailed expansive setting that is very well indexed.
2. Easily accessible.
3. A place where GDI can stay recognizably GDI.

The discord has talked about Star Trek some, but that runs into the issue of GDI will become effectively startrekized, and has fairly little to actually offer the crossover.
Something like B5 is fairly hard to access, at least for me, and the materials are not particularly well indexed for searching.
There are other options out there certainly, but I am not really familiar with them.

Edit: This is also something that is real world years down the line.

Out of curiosity. Did Starcraft come up in discussion? I know we're locked into ME atm but wondered anyway.

We got nat 100 on Enterprise! Cool. Nat 1 on asteroid surveys. I find it hard to imagine what could go wrong there.
Rest has to wait for infopost.

Now the good news!
We have a breakthrough in null g construction, allowing us to build bigger ships, fast.

Now the bad news!
We will need it, since our probe managed to find a gas deposit in an asteroid by triggering it explosively with a laser scan.
The resulting explosive decompression has set this asteroid on a collision course with a bigger one, and this bigger one is now, in an unlikely bout of cosmic pool, on a collision course with Earth.

1. You are not locked in by any means into ME. ME is the most likely, because it is the best option I have. If someone can offer me a better setting for a sequel, I would be happy to switch.
2. Starcraft fits better as an Exodus sequel, not a TCN sequel.

Word on the Discord is that our -2 penalty to Tiberium and Heavy Industry actually expired for this turn, and not next turn. So. That's good news in general, but those entire sections of the probability array were off. Eh.

We will need it, since our probe managed to find a gas deposit in an asteroid by a laser scan triggering it explosively.
The resulting explosion set this asteroid on a collision course with a bigger one, and this bigger one is now, in an unlucky bout of cosmic pool, on a collision course with Earth.

Thing is, this action doesn't send probes, which would need years of trevel time to even reach Belts, it alocates funfing to SCED to send this probes.

Oh look tib dice are back to normal.... ugh we need so much red zone mit

Edit- only +5 R for next turn is going to be a pain.... though we did clear out some of the higher cost stuff. Meh going to have fit things in. 51 roll over to RZ7 South is nice though. I am thinking 1 dice on YZ-5a MARV to try and finish it and 2 dice on RZ-7 N MARV to make some progress on it then Q3 we can do RZ-7 S hub and finish the RZ-7 N Marv so that rollover goes to the RZ-7 S Marv. We should have orbital cleanup come online Q2 so Q3 will see orbital cleanup 1 time boost, +15R from YZ-5a MArv, maybe income from deep vein tiberium (as that does not stress the mil and provides both R and mit)
