If we start doing things like pushing for Karachi then we're trying to essentially push for a deal that is heavily unbalanced in our favour. It will then either crash and burn or the diplomats will have to give the Nod factions major concessions. I don't think that's a good idea
Not quite true, as Nod is here trying to get trade routes open between themselves. That is what they are asking of GDI, and it is quite valuable already. AFAIK, we aren't asking for anything specific in return yet.

To quote the update
A land route between the Himalayan Blue Zone and the sea, allowing Karachi to occur would be a massive ask for the Initiative, requiring major concessions in other fields before it could even be considered.
Just because we (the treasury) aren't asking for anything specific in return does not mean that the diplomats haven't over the past several months been working towards a deal that includes things for GDI

Frankly, if they didn't already have some plan for what they could receive in return for the trade routes then it would be incompetence on such a scale I'd argue the entire team should be fired.

To be blunt, if we stick our noses in now and try to fuck around with whatever deal is made we are running the risk of (at worst) ruining the negotiations or (at best) forcing our diplomats to give Nod major concessions to get us what we want

Plan: Minimalist as fuck
[X] Technological Transfers
The Brotherhood still has many secrets up their sleeves. While extracting them is likely to be difficult, especially with the Brotherhood's own obscurantism in the way of making sure that the systems work properly. Extorting technology would be a bit of a grab bag, with little way to know for sure the value of what is being transferred until after the deal is finalized.

Your not actually voting for that.
you need to add [] with the X in it before the plan name. Right now its just you coting for Technological transfers.

It isn't "sticking our noses in" when the diplomats are specifically asking us what would be good to get in exchange for the Nod trade corridors...
These are de-escalation talks. Concessions all round is what makes people take them seriously, which helps them stick. The breaking the truce comes at a price that no side wants to pay.

Problem with not getting Karachi is that one of the conncesions might be "GDI won't attack for 2-4 years" or something along those lines.

Which means that without knowing the results of the concessions we might end up actually backstabbing if we don't get it. Depends on how much the Diplomatic core knows of our plans and how insistent we are on it.

[X]Plan: Leave it to the diplomats

[X] Plan Treasury Needs

[X] Plan: Render Unto GDI the spoils of its victory.

Why should we meet Nod with such an open hand?

Fool me once... Shame on GDI.

Fooled us too many times to count... It's all on Nod.

They'll spit on whatever treaty we'll make and then blame it on """rogue""" elements as soon as it's convenient.

Nod could be trusted to act in their own self-interest, within constraints of their ideology, which is defined regionally by individual warlords.

Current circumstances arranged in a way which makes agreements likely to hold with a number of more rational warlords, as their regional situations are absolutely shit and very recent Regency war was an absolute shitstorm while Tiberium is a universal creeping problem.

Nobody is trying to arrange something with Gideon or something, because we know that sort of people are just going to spit on it. Yao is a different matter, as are many others.

Uh guys.. are you sure about the Tiberium Abatement request. Remember it is mentioned that in case of war, our Abatement teams will be stuck behin Nod lines.

I could not care less for any kind of peace with Nod warlords, so I will just abstain this time.

Then please consider voting for; Plan: Render Unto GDI the spoils of its victory. Either it will succeed, or Nod will walk away from the table.

So let us put them in a terrible position to try anything from. Plan: Render Unto GDI the spoils of its victory. will provide this chance. Or they'll just say no.

Warlords have been known to change quite suddenly and with quite the shift in policy. Or be convinced to shift policy quite suddenly. Just ask Kilian Qatar what happened.

First she struck a peacedeal in the midst of alien invasion, with the intent to backstab GDI for its nuclear arsenal, then she got ousted and Kane used the nukes she stole from GDI to nuke the defenses of Sidney.
