I call upon you to hopefully inspire you muse to create another omake!

If you look at Hardbeak's titles there is a theme. Kingslayer, Trollslayer, Dragonslayer. How long until he becomes the DOOMSLAYER?

I can see it now. The Gates of Tartarus have opened and it's up to the Empire and her allies to seal them and stop the hordes of demons pouring through. Hardbeak and his Inner Circle stage a last stand and are trapped in Tartarus. It was sure to be a suicide mission, but Hardbeak was no average warrior. The demons flee in fear against his peerless skill.

A part 2 might be Hardbeak ending up in canon MLP. It would be hilarious to see Sombra put down like a rabid dog instead of being seen as as real threat since canon Sombra is weaker then the Lord of Darkness in this quest.

What about mortars, crossbows, and making diplomatic contact with the Caribou and the Diamond Dogs in the Emerald Isles?
Good options, but what about the Yak's supply of anti magic metal, or whatever option appears for the minotaurs that will be in the Diplomacy section or whatever aerial solutions we'll now have? We need to see all the options first, as well as the rumor mill.

Sorry man, not really.

I am mostly inspired by either dreams or music, while this is cool it really isn't something that really gives me any ideas for an omake

I was hoping I would get lucky since you did it twice with the Hardbeak ideas. Did you see this one?

The Hardbeak sword arts have been passed down for generations! Since Hardbeak training to control his strength is canon then shouldn't he have a unique style after mastering it?

Just saw this.

It amazingly epic! I wonder if things would be like this if Hardbeak fought Discord or Hardbeak becomes a god in the future and Hardbeak's fury becomes a thing.

Ok, so Maretonias trade partner(s) turn out to be neither Changelings nor Zebricans, but instead vaguely Grecian minotaur city-states that simply fell prey to translation errors in their dealings and at least some of them are now withdrawing their money.

On one hand that opens up new friendly relationships with another culture, on the other hand it puts Maretiona with their backs against the wall.

Masses of slaves get liberated under their noses, their nobles are at each throats, one of their main rival nations (Us, you know) is gearing up its military might - if only defensively - and now their main trading parter is jumping ships...all that combined is gonna put a lot of strain on Maretonian economy and socio-political landscape.

Honestly, I predict Maretonia either collapsing under its own weight or launching a desperate war against someone (probably us as main thorn in their side) to "reclaim lost glory and assets". Either way, things might turn ugly soon south of our borders.
Honestly, the dichotomy of our military and our intelligence agency is facinating.

We've got Hardbeak on one side, the one griffon nuclear option. And on the other, without even needing to lift a talon, is Ravenburg, with the ability to completely destroy a nation and its identity inside and out with the use of his agents.

Like, damn. Garrick has some amazing people working for him.

And on the third talon we have Quest!DaVinci Archimedes who makes our technological and scientific knowledge explode with each solved problem we ever lobbed at him...that and booze strong enough to give giants a serious buzz.

With our population boom, we might start having emigration happen on its own, and see a pattern of how Chinese and Indian populations spread out through the world over thousands of years. Just look at indonesia and the Philippines for things like this.

Maybe it won't be not so pronouncedwith how we are racing to adress this and how it is not the ancient era, but in a few decades, we will see gryphons and hippogryphs far removed from Gryphus in distance and culture.

Actually a good idea that we could build up coming from our magical research cooperation into a formal MACE Treaty (Migration And Cultural Exchange).

Gryphus and the nations we are on good terms with are already exchanging magical researchers with each other, who most likely will bring their families and cultures with them (we´ve already seen a mingling of religious beliefs happening, so it´s only logical to assume that culture would follow).

So by supporting migration and the like with treaties we as a (atm still loose) coalition of empires we could profit hugely from to-be-expected population booms like in Canterbury (while they cover the most surface area, most of it is either hazardous fallout from Discord "having fun" or untamed wildernness).

Currently the signing parties of such a treaty would be best-case:

- Gryphus and the Crystal Protectorate
- Neighpon
- Canterbury
- Yakyakistan

with other polities like Libertalia, the Minotaur League, the Emerald Isles, Olenia and any we might still come across in the future to be decided on a case-to-case basis.

...Yeah, I´d be totally on-board with us getting a NATO-like organisation off the ground asap if for no other reason than me liking olly cooperation

Slightly different because ultimately Ambrosius owes No allegiance to US, but to Canterbury and the Lady...right now He and the Others two simply agreed to Help US Out outta Mutual interest
Actually we don't know how loyal/faithfull to the lady he is. He came of his own initiative after all.

He's likely loyal, but even then we have enough to keep him interested for decades.

The other two we were told are "ordained priests" of their church, but we weren't actually Merlin is as well.

Still, we should probably give that lake to their church next turn. It's an easy way to to thank them and maybe score some diplo points, especially when we're likely about to go to war with Maretonia.

We could even try to take advantage of the synergy and also ask for the queen's visions!

She'll certainly be more likely to share them with us if we show our appreciation and respect for their faith and help, and she might hopefully give us a more precise countdown to the coming conflict.

I keep hearing of some Lake...ist there one Close to or at the Gryphus-Canterbury Border thats being contested?

Not REALLY contested... it's the piety option for the church of the Lady. They asked for a lake on the border to be proclaimed sacred.

[ ] A Holy Lake: Obviously, Lakes and Ponds are central to the worship of the Lady of the Lakes. While technically any pure body of water could be considered holy by the worshippers of the Lady, certain ones are selected by members of the church to serve as sites of worship. Exactly how they determine which lake or pond should be more holy than others is a mystery to those outside of the priesthood, but the followers of the Lady within your borders have identified one lake in particular which they believe to be a conduit for the Lady's divine will. The fact that it is near your shared border with Canterbury is a total coincidence, you're sure. Regardless, the followers of the Lady have petitioned you to recognize the lake as a protected area, off limits to development or exploitation, save the construction of shrines and houses of worship. Given that the lake in question is far from any major cities or sources of pollution, this shouldn't be too difficult to pull off. Cost: 100. Time: One Year. Reward: Church of the Lady granted a protected lake to worship at.

I Understand...

Admittedly, I largely ignored the Piety Options aside from Ancient Gryphus Pantheism in Order to give our people a belief and cultural Identität that doesnt rely in our own deification...so I was unaware of anything particular about the different Options.

While consecrating that apparently otherweise unimportant Lake seems to be an easy way to Hain davor with the Lady of the Lake, First I'd prefer to make Sure that

a) WE dont have any more pressing religious matters to Deal with

b) WE dont end Up pissing Off the Others faiths needlessly by running elbows with any Side in particular (having a religious war to wage in top of the more mundane possible one with Maretpnia would really Ruin my day)

c) there are graspable benefits of Catering to any faiths Paste Meter poilitical Goodwill (which ist still nice, mind you)

After those Points have been cleared I d be willing to at least think about having that Lake consecrated, among Other things

The dangerous stuff was actually Cosmos, Discord's Girlfriend he broke up with when he had enough of her damgerous "jokes".

Discord's stuff is mostly the annoying, destructive, and humorous things that are mostly harmless.

Even so, the Lands in question are still effectively unusable to Canterburian colonisation, meaning that any surplus Population they suffer will have to settled down somewhere Else, at least for the time being

I know, just dont want people getting into the habit of blaming discord when most of the stuff he did he made sure wouldn't hurt anyone.... Physically at least. Emotionally? Whole other ballgame there.

His stuff was still fiarly destructive but he normally targetted things that could be rebuilt easily and never went after culturally significant landmarks with intent to destroy.

Vandalize maybe, but it was always able to be removed if enough effort was made.

I mean, we already helped with their monster problem so it isn't a priority to give them a lake ASAP, we are already established allies afterall and she apparently did NOT send the old magic stallion.

Considering it's our citizens' piety i'd say the priority list is Ancient Gryphus then Crystal Heart then Yak Stones then Neighponese Shrines and then the Canterbury Lake.

I don't really have much interest in the old gryph religion.

At least the crystal heart and the lady of the lake are proven to actually EXIST, even if we don't know that much about their true nature.

They're also proven to be benevolent.

(Well, the emperor too I guess)

Yeah, but the Ancient Gryphus REligion could theoretically be combined with the Imperial Cult into a coherent whole (the Royal Family being the ancient gods´ designated modern envoy, for example), if we are so inclined as to go down the Divine Mandate route.

Even if we aren´t doing that, we can still give our people an origin and identity by researching the ancient gods.

Honestly, if theres one final act I want him to do before resigning for gawain to take the throne, it's this. Get something like this up and running.

No idea, where you are getting "final act" outta this. Even with us being part of some kind of NATO-like pact there will almost assuredly be more to do for us ("us" as in "the ruling family of Gryphus", not as in "Garrick Golden-Feather" - after all, this is a CKII-style quest, where it´s all about your dynasty as a whole afloat).

For example, irl the NATO was founded as a counterpart to the Warsaw Pact (that´s actually where the terms "First/Second/Third World" stem from ultimately - with the First World being the NATO, the Second World being WP and the Third World being unaligned) at the beginning of the Cold War, with lots of proxy wars going on. Technically, us roping Libertalia into helping us liberate the Maretonian slaves and even our behaviour during First Contact with the Minotaur League could be seen as proxy wars against Maretonia.

Outside of Equestria, this world is a dangerous place, as stated in the intro, with hostile polities, monsters and unrestrained nature everywhere. Heck, once we meet the Equestrians (who at this point are still rather racist pricks due to Celestia having to shove a millenium worth of prosperity and stagnation down their throats first), the sheer culture shock between our way of life and theirs could cause political problems down the line (I know, that earlier I argued against such a thing happening, but that was more about its likeliness, not its possibility).

Now that I think about it, even a contact to Earth and Humanity would be possible thanks to Starswirls portal research as depicted in Equestria Girls...And let´s be honest, compared to Humanitys past even ours pales in terms of sheer fucked-up-ness.

TDLR: Even with us getting some kind of NATO going, our work won´t be even close to done

? Like... what? I didnt mention anything about the quest ending at all? Just that Harricks reign would end. Yeah, of course there will be more to do. Just, garrick himself is nearing the end of his reign, hes 50 after all, before his son will take over. Hence, I want to do something like that as Garrick while hes still ruling as a capstone to his accomplishments before a new era with Gawain.
