I'll be bidding the thread good night as I gotta wake up early feel free to ask any questions and I'll answer them when I get back.

FYI, the Ball is actually fairly agile due to packing solid-fuel verniers that can give it a sideways kick for dodging. Of course, it does have only a limited amount of fuel for them...

this folder contained concrete evidence that a Federation Official gave the order to assassinate Zeon Zum Deikun.

This... is big. On one hand, we now have the opportunity for a PR stunt of our own by extraditing this officer to Zeon, improving our diplomatic relations with the Principality.

On the other hand, doing so would apparently be a human rights violation because there's apparently an international treaty that extraditing prisoners to where they would be executed or tortured is inhumane. This was brought up in Switzerland just a few days ago when the local parliament voted on such legislation. As the successor of the UN, the Federation would still be bound by international treaties signed by the UN and we know for sure the Principality would execute Zeon Deikun's killer.

So the question is... do we sweep this under the rug and become accessories by inaction, or do we commit a human rights violation for a chance to appease Zeon, at the cost of people in our ranks becoming disgruntled at us violating the law for the greater good? I said chance because it is fully possible that Gihren will use it for further propaganda fuel to justify declaring war anyway on the grounds that the guy was still a Feddie and the Federation is just scapegoating him, no doubt to cover their own culpability in the matter.

We try them for treason and then hang them ourselves.

Then We sing them a heartfelt apology! Believe in the power of culture!

Joint trial, their prosecutor focuses on the assassination aspect, ours focus on the fact that what the officer did was flat out, no holds barred Treason.

Edit: then he dies to a mixed firing squad.

That seems to be the best way forward. Trying to sweep it under the table will bite us in the ass almost immediately because somehow it will get out that it happened. Joint trials and executions for treason since that is one of the few crimes that would still carry a death penalty.

This also helps keep him from becoming a mayter for the nutjobs. Drag each of the evils he did into the daylight kicking and screaming and show the world that he is nothing but a monster and a traitor.

And then when his life's work is nothing but ashes in his hands and the world will only remeber him as humanity's greatest traitor will he be given the mercy of a firing squad.

It's too bad that if the Laplace Box is a thing here, then the Feds aren't much better since the game was rigged from the start. The best option would be to create a third entity that replaces them both, but that's unfeasible, outside of the scope of the game and the incoming aliens will do that for us anyway.

This isn't the box this is a fanatic group that has committed multiple counts of treason. As for forming a new entity that is what we are working towards one that is equal so the box would be more or less worthless. All it would be is a black spot in history because we would be busy preparing or recovering from the armada on its way here.

It's not that they aren't an effective stop-gap, it's that the're hell to fly. One of their nicknames (in this timeline anyway) is "suicide capsule".

Old War Wounds
The first thing the team had realized, was the ship was old, the next thing they realized was that most of the damage to the ship happened before the ship's entry into Earth's atmosphere, the last thing that the team realized before beginning the expedition proper, was that the aliens were massive. Two Zakus could stand side by side and still have room to maneuver.

"Mark, if something jumps on you, I'm shooting it then you."

Of course that made for very long walks through very dark corridors with two very stupid army grunts.

"Gee Mags, I'm really feeling the love here."

"Can it you two," said the gruff looking man in the back, "or I'm shooting both of you my self!"

"Yes Sarge."

"Yes Sir."

Three, Dr. Chistov mentally recounted, there are three. I forgot about their commanding officer. When he was told he would get to explore an alien space ship, he'd been hoping for something more glamorous than this. Another team had found an alien Mobile Suit half embedded in a wall somewhere, he mentally complained, if the scientific discovery of the century isn't behind these doors I'm complaining to my superiors. He sighed aloud, at least the engineer was nice to look at. Seeking of which....

"Miss Stuart how much longer!"

Joanna Stuart was hard at work on the raised platform by the control panel, this was the first "locked" door any team had come-a-cross, and wanted to be doubly sure that opening it wouldn't set the ship to self-destruct. "Keep ya' shirt on Nancy, I'm juuusst about... there!" The large doors slid open with a resounding clang, and something large and white clattered to the floor. The soldiers raised their rifles to fire, only stopping themselves when their CO ordered them to hold fire. Lying before them was massive skeleton, human in appearance.

"Well that is... interesting.... lets us continue then eh?" Chistov walked in to the room and was amazed by what he saw, along the side walls were glass like tubes. Most of them were opened or shattered, all but one. In the back and to the right there was still one intact, and on its surface, was a fresh layer of frost.

Chistov did not complain to his superiors.

(Gained: x1 Alien MS? (destroyed) x8 Alien skeletons x1 Alien Cryopod (active))

So we got a survivor and a piece of tech we can study. Then again even the damaged cryo tubes should yield some good technology.

Turn 2 UC 0079.02
Political Actions (pick up to 2)
The Federation's government is hilariously corrupt and nepotistic, something must be done.

[] Damage control- Gihren's Speech practically set riots into streets we need to run some damage control (DC varies)
[] How- (write in)

[] Sway the neutral Sides- Exactly what it says on the tin. (DC varies)

[] Dismantle the Shadow Government's power base- We may have bypassed them, but it members still hold a lot of power. (DC ??)

[] Fix "red tape"- Overhauling the bureaucratic infrastructure of the federation is going to be a challenge to say the least. (DC Very Hard)

Military Actions (pick up to 2)
If the there are aliens then there is an alien armada, its time to prepare for war.

[] Buy Zeon MS- The Ball was not well liked. (DC Medium to Hard)

[] Launch a joint exercise with Zeon- Perhaps a joint Exercise will improve relations (DC ??)

[] Ramp up warship production- If we are to fight an intergalactic war, than we are going to need far more warships. (DC Easy to Hard)

[] Design new ship- The Magellan-class is showing it's age and needs replacing (will lead to mini vote)

"Diplomacy" Actions (pick up to one)
Cloak and Dagger is distasteful but necessary.

[] Steal Zeon MS designs- We need it more after all. (DC ??)

[] Cover our tracks- Know one can know about Cain's Stone. (DC??) (extends timer)

[] "Remove" political rivals- Call it that if it helps you sleep at night. (DC??)

Research Actions (until the alien ship is fully researched you may only pick one)
Knowledge is power.

[] Project RX - The first prototype was successful, the second is underway. (No DC advances Project RX)

[] Examine alien "MS"- what it says on the tin. (DC??)

[] Beam weapon miniaturization- We don't know how strong the aliens' armor will be, MS sized Beam Weapons are a must. (DC??)

Alien Ship Actions (pick one)
The big alien wreck on Macross Island

[] Study the engines (DC??)

[] Study the generators (DC??)

[] Study the weapons (DC??)

[] Study the computers (DC??)

Special Actions (must pick one and only one)
Zeon "as a sign of good will" has sent us a offer to become "a part of a joint research effort" in regards to the alien ship and have even thrown in an MS design to sweeten the deal. Do we take it?

[] Yes

[] No

Personal Actions (pick one)
Your a bit overwhelmed, surrounded by ace pilots your not sure what to do with Yourself....

[] Suggest a training exercise

[] Try to get to get to know them better
-[] Who?

Critical Action (3 turns left)
(Critical Actions are timed high risk/high reward actions that can be ignored but must be taken before the timer runs out.)
"The Last of Nod" have been revealed to be Zeon Zum Deikun's killers what is to be done with them?

[] Try them your selves

[] Give them to Zeon

[] Attempt to hold a joint trial

(The Zentraedi on ice is locked until you have MS.)

(There is a 2 hour minimum on voting.)

The Diplomacy actions seem very limited why not actions to improve relations with Zeon? If we decide to do a joint trial or even just do it ourselves then the only option we can take is the political opponents one.

It's "Diplomacy," a more actuate name would be "sneaky illegal shit". Those actions would under Political, once the Federation unfucks it.

That is what I figured since it was in quotation marks but it is still very limited for intrigue actions and spy work. Why not any action to track some of the know dangers? Why steal, hide, and kill are the only options we could investigate many of the supporters of the corrupt leadership and have it synergize with our dismantling of the Shadow Government power base.

Wait wasn't the ship from the rebels? The rebels who hate protoculutre descendents?

Did this get changed at some point? I thought the ship was that scientist's ship that was carrying the powerplant for the technology base that they used?

So does anyone have any ideas on how to do damage control?

In that case it's more to do with a lack of loyal spies, and that Nobody is very specialized. That option is meant to extend the timer, I'm sorry that wasn't more clear.

that's robotech. here the ship was built by the supervision army which is a brainwashed army of Zentraldi and members of the protoculure who hunt and kill anything tied to the protoculure like say a planet of people with Protoculure blood running through there veins.

as for damage control keep that stasis pod under guard and have some tanks near to shoot them if he realizes our link to the protoculure.
