Forgive me if I just failed meteorology forever, but can lightning storms even form without clouds?

In other words, wouldn't that Hysh spell massively reduce the chance of being hit by lightning?

Depends on how the enchantment works, cause 100 yards isn't a lot even on foot, let alone while flying.

If it's a fire and forget thing, where it only activates for a second and you can only usually it a few times a day ... that's not enough to make a storm too dangerous to fly in safe. If it's got a lengthy activation, where you activate it and it stays active for an hour or more ... maybe? Really depends on the details there,

Permanent activation, where there's just never clouds around it, yeah, that would help with dangerous storms ... but I feel like that's probably unlikely. At least, it's best case scenario and I wouldn't assume it.

I mean, I suppose that you could use the spell on an overcast or rainy day as a subtler sort of flare to signal your location to other people.

My primary goal was a sort of enchantment that would allow the gyrocopter to be able to fly in any sort of weather, but I don't believe there are any Azyr spells that really allow for that. The closest thing is the clear clouds/overcast sky spell, and as pointed out above, the only way it could do that is if it was near permanently active, which is probably not possible unless we get an astounding success.

Honestly I think it is going to be a while before we will have the AP to windherd the Gyro. The next turn will be the first in elfland and we want to make a good showing of it. That would mean sink as many actions as we can into into the job.

Thus continuing the trend of spending all our AP on the job vs our backlog.

Why do we have a backlog again? Oh right.

One thing I would like to do in elfland is to get one of the elves to have a look at the acorn Mathilde picked up. Seems like something that would be right up their wheelhouse, and may be something taken from Laurelorn or Athel Loren.

I mean, out of the game, it's 99.9% likely to be an acorn from the Oak of Ages, and there is probably a very, murderously, angry band of Asrai (the crazy wood elves) running around looking (with magic senses) for it right this moment....

but yes, we should ask Laurelorn to look at it. (tho out of character they might treat it the same way the grey college treats mummy gold.)

If they do, then at least we get a possible murderous band of asrai off our back, so that's a win.
Every LM worth the name has a backlog, that is kind of the nature of the job , and let's not get into what say Kragg's backlog must look like.
did you quote the wrong post? I didn't mention anything about the backlog, but Noxeng did.

Estalia doesn't really have much. Like... at all. It's the least-detailed nation in the Old World.

It's a patchwork of Spain-y towns and principalities with the largest being the city of Magritta. Not unified in any sense whatsoever. Invaded by Araby 1,000 years ago before knights from Bretonnia and the Empire helped drive them back and launch a crusade to Araby itself. Mymidia is as popular there as in Tilea. The Knights of Magritta are a secret society spread throughout Bretonnia, Tilea, and the Empire nominally based around uniting Estalia and launching another crusade against Araby (except they haven't really put any effort towards either goal and nobody actually sees any point in a crusade anymore). They're famous for their swordsmen known as Diestros.

There's really not much else.

More popular than in debased Tilea! /Estalian

But yeah, it's kind of a mixed blessing trying to worldbuild around that. Not a whole lot contradicting you, but also not a whole lot supporting your efforts either.

So, now that we have our own Gyrocarriage, what kind of enchantments do you guys think would be beneficial to put on there once we eventually get a handle on Windherder? This is assuming we enchant the gyrocarriage of course, but I assume that is something we'd want to tackle eventually. I'm keen on experimenting with Windherder soon.

Illusion to silence the vehicle, help with the whole 'black helicopters' thing? Fly, as a backup system?

Diestros do have the neat world building detail of all being maths nerds because the founder of the school was a maths nerd who thought that meditating on maths through swordplay was a route to enlightenment. (source: The 2e Career Conpendium)

Plus, plenty of real-world treatises on fencing by famous masters did tend to have a great deal of focus on the study of trigonometry, geometry, biology and the mechanics of the human form. Since, well, knowing how to place yourself in a mechanically superior position so that you can control your opponent's blade with relative ease is quite advantageous in a fight. Probably also a reference to that.
