Given how many years she's been here I'd say It's pretty clear Pan doesn't want to have something to do in winter.
I mean you could say that for practically any gift you could give another human being, the situation where only X has the resources to give a certain gift to Y are the exception and not the rule.

To clarify my own position: Fresh fruit cool, would like to get other towers for other K8P wizards also, but I don't see what utility any towers would have for them. Actually, If you have any ideas, I would be interested in hearing them.

I want to work on wind herding in the turns after the expedition having the gold tower battery means we can potentially pump gold and grey magic into the room of utter neutrality to work on it together with the gold boys.
That's true, but Pan isn't hurting for resources, I'm very sure based on the previous scene with her where she happily described the fact that she has winter off she actively doesn't want to have to do other stuff then, if she did she could have solved it easily. It's essentially a holiday for her where she doesn't have to work at all for a few months.

True, she is not hurting for resources, Mathilde is absurdly rich to the point of not noticing that she did not collect 700 GP, it is entirely possible for something to be a reasonable buy with Mathilde's resources and not Panoramia's

The towers have the same utility for all of them. Arguably Adela has the biggest utility from a tower as it gives a bonus to working with her wind of magic and she's iirc planning to do magic-tech engineering studies.
Presumably, she's going to read through them before the journey so yes. They might not provide a +4 or what ever to all the rolls but they will provide understanding and knowledge.
Not with rolls, but it will expand the background information she has access to.

Not mechanically - Mathilde won't get a library bonus to rolls - but they may help in terms of information, since if we encounter something described in one of the books we'll get more insight into it, as opposed to Mathilde having to guess or not having any idea.

Ok, I kinda want to do an omake of that duckling meeting now, and I'd kill for another one of panoramia's letters home. They are so soft with eachother. I really like how the dynamic seems to be Mathilde, flustered and unsure about intimancy (physical at least, she seems better at emotional) vs Pan with an internalized sense of "she's out of my league", feeling like she's competing with a dragon for a lady magister, while she's still technically a journeyman. It's like a pile of fluff: soft and light and so easy to turn into burning heat with just a spark.
On a different subject, it occurs to me that our position on the council of wizard lords is really that of External Affairs, should we choose to push harder into that. Dwarves really, but elves are on the table from two directions, and Brettonia is an OOC knowledge but that is coming. I kinda like the idea of being an ambassador at large, dispatched to those places outside the empire where the rulers could use a grey wizard advisor for a time. Plus all the other wizard lords are focused on the empire and it's internal affairs, as best I can tell.
Last thought, how likely does anyone think it is that Pan starts hanging out with Cython while we are gone? Based on her question and maybe a desire for someone to talk to about is while most of the wizards are gone. I'm betting they'd have some fascinating conversations about the gods of the green wind, and it would be hilarious if they teamed up to tease Mathilde.
