WoG about him like that would give certainty where none should exist.
How about a minimal one with things Mathilde thinks she knows, the what do I think of him and what do I think he thinks of me stuff, and a couple of CK2 stats in the X+ form where we just know that he definitely has more than that?

I mean personally I don't need it, just as I don't need much of the stats for any other character, but it is really helpful for newcomers or people returning from a long thread break.
Delivery: Competent, +0.
This depends on a roll. We might just crit and write the most riveting and funny collection of road accident stories ever. Or we might fail so hard that all we get is a dry and useless list of road hazards. Or worse: Something that we think is a funny collection of road hazard stories, but actually is a paper choke full of obtuse and cringeworthy anecdotes that one has to combe through to find any usable data.

The excerpt continues-
"...Or this is what happens-occurs when you do not obey the Rule-Law of Three.
What should the wise-cunning merchant do?
Hire three caravan masters. One is told to arrive as quickly as possible, and promised rewards on this basis. The second is told to transport the goods as cheaply as possible, and likewise incentivised. And the third is told to ensure the goods arrive in the best possible condition, for which they will be amply compensated.
They will suspect each other of attempts to sabotage their personal priority. Each will then watch the others, certain that if one attacks or betrays another, the third can destroy the weakened winner and take all the rewards. Thus, they are forced to work together, ensuring the Iron Triangle of Cost, Time, and Condition are optimised."
Is ot crazy that this actually sounds useful in certain cases?

I'm generally curious what kinds of weird quirks and assumptions Mathilde would have if she were to find herself as a general of a Human army that is fighting another Human army, given her eclectic sources and personal experience. Would she overestimate the enemy's willingness to expend bodies? Would she have a very different idea on how morale works? Would she be irked by the low lethality of the ranged armaments available to her?

Gretel because she is also my favorite.
The Undumgi are leaving this turn I think, so getting their impressions might be interesting.
Cython how can I not, that delicious deeper lore.

She's done more than read stolen Skaven books, though. Mathilde has been in battles with both men and dawi, and she even lead dwarven forces against skaven in the battle under the caldera. Even if she doesn't have a formal skill for it or a library collection (yet), she's got to have some general knowledge of generalship. That, and the thing about Skaven numerology is that it assumes everyone involved is a chronic backstabber. If you can actually trust those you work with or those under your command it becomes a far less useful philosophy.

Wonder how much nicer the Stirland fief would be if we put a single dawi favor on construction there... Im thinking a nice topside keep and then some nice looking bunker hallways with polished flint ceilings below.
Making it look better makes it a bigger target. It's currently balanced between the level of defenses and the likelihood of it being attacked. Building better defenses attracts bigger attacks because it looks like a better place to loot, so we'd need more people to defend it, not just some farmers with slings. The fief is not able to support dedicated defenders, because it's on almost useless land for anything but grazing your sheep. They don't have the income or ability to ramp up that income to be a bigger settlement, nor any desire to become one. They'd be better off left alone.

It's perfect for working with Marienburg, many nobles, or sufficiently large companies, though.

I know that. But every force she's lead had Dwarven firepower and every force she's fought had lots of expendable troops. And no force she's fought against had dedicated ranged troops with human (or worse) levels of range, reload time and accuracy, other than the occasional Greenskin artillery.

In any case, I don't expect her to ever be an actually bad general. Her raw stats are too high for that. I'm more curious about what she would find frustrating and what her direct lieutenants or the troops on the ground would find unusual.

Which is why I said "in certain cases".

Skaven philosophy is an inherently hopeful view of the world: Anyone can climb to the top as long as they use knives to make handholds.

(End Times sin #61f: The Skaven did not murder the Horned Rat.)
Bah! Why use knives when you can use hyper-accelerated warpstone chunks? Or breed an army of giant killer turtle-rats to do the stabbing for you?

...I deleted that post because I couldn't get it worded right. Gah! >_<

It was supposed to be a joke about socialism, but I couldn't get it to work that way.

Reading through archives and ran across this:
Then they decided to try to sort out some other business while they were in the neighbourhood, and whoops. The nature of that side business is still under the aegis of wheels in motion.
Out of curiosity, is the nature of Hexensohn's side business still under the aegis of wheels in motion, or is it safe for us to find out now?

Logistics and the Rule-Law of Three, M. Weber (Grey), Qrech (B.Arts), 2486.

I would love to see Qrech's thesis on Near-Eastern studies, not gonna lie. And whatever papers he comes out with next. And his academic feuds within the University of Altdorf.

Oh, can you imagine? Four years from now, and he's trying to bribe Mathilde to knife some grad student for being slow-stupid and preventing he, Qrech, from reaching his proper place as associate professor by whispering poison into the ears of the Deans about his position on the interactions between the ogre and the chaos dwarves.

Or even better, we DO give Qrech some (non-lethal) assistance, perhaps as a.... character witness, and he eventually becomes acknowledged as the greatest living authority on the certain Near-Eastern subjects.

So years from now, when the hard-bitten team of adventurers shows up at the distant dwarf fastness of Karak Eightpeaks in search of a vital clue to the location of their objective, the mysterious grey wizard who meets then and listens to thier request says not a word, but leads then to an isolated dungeon, leaving them to ask "Professor Qrech?" as an old, old skaven moves forward into the light to regard them.

I love how I've got the 'group of adventures' to all but be canon to the thread just by making jokes about them every so often over the years.

I'm thinking there is 4-5 of them. one Rikland noble with an ego and a Laurelorn Elf that hates every minute of the nonsense the others get up to while playing the straight man, still thinking up the others.

I feel like there cant be a dwarf in the crew. (blasphemy I know) because then they would have someone that knows whats going on in K8Ps, who Mathy is etc etc. and that's less funny

Nah, Professor Qrech accepts no visitors, they are old and the health is failing and can't really be stressed with company beyond their nurse and few chosen friends.
But happily the friendly Lord Magister Weber, professors old friend and confidante, will take a message.

It'll probably be [Title, Year. Subject: Common, -1. Insight: Common, -1. Delivery: Competent, +0. Familiar, -1. Varied, +1. Thorough, +1. Accessible, +1. Total: 0.] boosted to a minimum of 1, possibly with a Tactically Relevant thrown in there but it won't make a difference favor wise, it'll be 1 either way.
Throw on some tactical usefulness, since it's relevant to troop movements. The info on Anvils and dwarven siege engines might add some extra rarity. It's certainly not going to be a +5 like some of our Skaven stuff, but I'd still guess it around +2 or +3.

Plenty of ways to work a dwarf in. Just grab a renegade, or someone from an insular clan. Or maybe even an expat from Marienburg whose first exposure to a mountain hold is a field full of halflings. Despite what they might wish, the culture of the Karaz Ankor isn't universal to all Order dwarves.
