I'm tempted to switch the penthouse actions to

[ ] PENTHOUSE: Have additional rooms excavated underneath your Penthouse

for an additional six rooms allowing us to mostly complete our home and any extensions we might want.

@SuperSonicSound do you have strong feelings on opening the branhulme chain[1] so we can get some live practice to develop it vs. doing the pall of darkness?

[1] to me it feels likely that this a short chain rather than a 1-off

Sneezing and being blinded for several seconds is contraindicated as a survival technique when pressed in melee.

Rather disappointed in the purchase request, under specified as it was.

I sorta do, I feel we have the next turns opening action to do the sword style or take over work if needed to get it if something else needs flex to be done. Where as pall of darkness should be a one and done if we don't screw it up.

hasn't the Ulgu battery won once already?

and fortifying for when we are on extended leave makes sense.

Edit found it:

We already have our Battery.
Oh, my bad on that, ty.

...
Though the fortifying it when on extended leave bit strikes me as the same logics as "the cactus fief is in less danger if we check on it" - The place is very hard to force your way into - but... eh.

You know what, doing this now will drop it from the list so we can do cooler things in the future.

Everyone in front. Not to the sides or rear, who can freely shank the sneezing wizard who's just finished swallowing liquid fire.

Well if we're in a melee in the battle line that's good for us. If we're in a tunnel situation it's even better. If we're holding a choke of any kind it's amazing. I don't see the problem personally. It's exactly what I expected it to be. If we want an omni directional spell we'll need to create it ourselves using burning shadows and our fog trait and shadow arcane mark as a basis.

I'm not wedded to the penthouse action but I could see a rapid smash and grab as something that could happen by stealth characters with equipment sorta like ours. I agree it's not very likely at this stage but as our library becomes more well know that would change. I guess. At least until the actual karak library comes online if we do book boon. :p

I sorta like the idea of changing that out to excavating six more rooms for our home though.

@veekie @DragonParadox
You guys are the only ones that voted for my plans at the time of writing this are you okay with changing out the penthouse for more rooms or do you want it kept the same

So what's the plan for hiring Damsels? Cause we need a hook and I'm not sure money will be enough.

You don't see a problem with a device that requires retrieving a flask from our belt, unstoppering it, drinking, waiting for the sneeze reflex- closing eyes involuntarily- and only then expelling flame breath? Then having soot-clogged airways.
A few of those steps seem problematic to me for any 'clear out people who are immediately trying to stab us' purpose.

I didn't get a feel as to the range of the cone from the chapter tbh. What was it, vaguely, or was it variable?

@BoneyM Would using the item while invisible cause wind mixing?

My two cents on Esbern and Seija being in the painting: Yes, I think we should invite them, and especially yes if we ask them to come to hell with us.

I'll put in the sunken palace idea, cuz it's cool, but people seem to really want to have a trading company be better at enforcing their will via weapons, rather than having the state do so on their behalf.
I think part of that is because the Empire of Sigmar is not, or does not have, a 'state' in the relevant modern sense. You've got the Emperor, the Hammerpope and the Wolfpope with their militant arms, the Knightly Orders of various other cults, the Elector Counts, and the Colleges, each of whom is a law unto themself to some extent. The trading company could rebrand as a knightly order of Stirland and it would be almost as state as some of the other organizations that play at being parts of state. Decent odds that asking the state to enforce on their behalf would result in the current state of the Empire saying right back "here's some weapons, pls enforce".

I've joked before that Sigmar's Empire shows us what real separation of powers looks like. An common modern Western state model has a 'separation of powers' where the legislature appoints people to the judiciary and the judiciary's job is to enforce the codified will of the legislature. That's not separation, that's delegation.

Dwarven good will is usually as solid as steel, and there are dwarf holds in the grey mountains. That could be incentivised to help the Bretonnians out. Keep in mind our favour gained from the K8P expedition could have been used through out all of the Karaz-Ankor if it wasn't for Belegar creating a rift between him and Thorgrim. I expect the same to be broadly true with the Damsels.

Also Bretonnia has a bit of a thing for these kind of quests. Part of a questing knights thing for instance is travelling the world righting wrongs and doing good deeds. Damsels obviously aren't questing knights, but the reason questing knights do those things is because the lady of the lake gives them visions on where to travel in search of the grail. So clearly the Lady of the lake is quite happy to actually help foreign agents/powers if it's a noble deed of some sort.

No strong opinions.
Terrible day for sinus since every other place is burning incense and my brain is trying to exit via my nose x.x

Oof, I feel you man.

On the subject of the sneezing wizard, it's to my understanding that we don't have to be the ones to use the Dragon Breath Flask personally?

That should be correct, I wouldn't give it to any one that isn't human though. I think this would do a number of a dwarf given how much magic would be involved and it'd be inside them bypassing their magic resistance.

If a dwarf heard you say that that'd be a grudging, obviously the only metal dwarven honor could be compared to is gromril.

Aye but as Ulthars father proves at least at the moment with what we know what they'd like to say and what is true isn't 1:1 sadly.

Reminder that the Gold Wizards have a very solid MMM-lite available to them that we probably should nudge them to learn-
[ ] MAX: Learn a spell: Armour of Lead
[ ] JOHANN: Learn a spell: Armour of Lead

"A group of enemies' armor becomes heavy as lead, giving penalties to combat and movement."

Could be useful in many situations.

Edit: Improving the EIC navy seems premature, we've not given the current one time to see if it can reduce piracy sufficiently yet.

I'm of the opinion we shouldn't micromanage their learning in this regard they likely have plans of their own and all of them are magisters in their own right with access to all the college resources of the gold order that this implies.

While true, our goldies are capable of thinking for themselves and easily may decide to learn that spell on their own.
Or maybe they'll surprise us and learn something even more useful we haven't thought of.
