Lets just give the favour to the colleges, it would be nice to have, but the colleges can actually use it productively

Ways to burn an immense amount of Runelord favor:
  • Make the Liber Mortis the Runesmiths' problem. They can't be necromancers, and they could definitely use some insider knowledge of Skaven and Undead. Who knows, maybe someone like Kragg could black-box the Second Secret using a Rune.
  • Introductions to some of the Ancestor Gods of the Karaz Ankor.
  • A Staff, big fat capital S.
  • Ask Kragg to quietly have some words with Thorgrim about Waystone Networks.

You can't really just give favour like that, unless you're talking about the idea to negotiate an alliance. That's not how it works.
Introductions to some of the Ancestor Gods of the Karaz Ankor.
Awesome idea, but I'm not sure even the runesmiths have that kind of pull.

Then just ask the colleges what they want and ask for it ourselves. This is a incredible treasure and everything we could use it on would be more a prestige thing, rather than useful for the forces of good (tm)

But that would ruin the surprise. No what we need to do is make a unilateral decision, such as requesting a complete upgrade of the college architecture, and just not tell anyone until an army of Runesmiths descend on the colleges tearing them down and leaving better Dwarf grade buildings in their wake. Then we can walk in and mark a smug remark about how much we like what they've done with the place.

I want a ressource being used for efficiantly not for awesome. Awesome is good but this is A BIG DEAL.Making such decisions without input from our superiors would make us seem unreliable. And i want to get to lady magister in the next ten rounds

Would it be a substantial improvement?
To me, if it's functionally a grounding rod, it's a grounding rod. Back when I was looking for the price of one in College Favour, one of the votes was for "reusable grounding rod." I wonder if that was viable, and if so, how much more it would cost.

Ok, I can't keep this in: I am incredibly fucking hype right now. BoneyM is bullshit good at hype causing!

----
Very boring idea: Many many grounding rods for those in the colleges that do not have them.

Are there healing runes?

We ask them to work with Shyllans to put big fuck-off huge healing runes in some of their bigger hospitals. The Sigmarites would love to see it: "Wow, Dwarves providing additional healing, such bros"

Runesmith favor: Teach me enough to be able to help you with Bok

Or... teach me what you think would help me help you with Bok...

I wonder, based on some of the work the dwarves did on our Tower, whether they could make powerstone 'factories' in collaboration with wizards.

Teclis built or had a hand in the Colleges construction, and, I believe, made them into the mono-Wind environments that make it much safer to teach apprentices, and, I think, hooked them into the Waystone network.

It's quite possible that the runesmiths can't better his work in that regard as they've lost the Rune of Sorcery that allows them to direct the Winds.

Yeah, but there's a difference between being efficient and your "just hand it off to someone else" proposal. That's not being efficient and trustwothy, it's avoiding responsibility for something we earned, and I doubt many of the people who have had to work so hard to get AV actions would appreciate it. Of course, I'm not saying we shouldn't consult others on what could and should be done, if that's possible in the format of the quest, but at least the primary ideas will probably come from us.

That's actually probably what that whole Rune language would cover, all things considered. Might be a really good idea, actually.

We could sketch the shape of the runes for Kragg, that would probably be helpful...
There was mention of a wind-seeing item, or room that can do that (MMAP)

(Though I was always confused about why a wind-seeing item would not have the whole "Dwarves react badly to active magic" problem going on).

Edit: I'm not hugely interested in learning Rune language, maybe if we had polyglot, but... we have enough to be getting on with, so I'd need to see suggestions of what we might use it for and compare that to other stuff we could be doing.

I wonder if the runesmith favour would be enough to get runesmiths permanently seconded to help with a Karak Eight Peaks magical research institute, or basically get a runesmith employee analogous to Johann or Max.

I mean, the Empire's been allied with the Dwarves for millennia with plenty of fools (looking at you Dieter) and they're still friends with the Dwarves. As long as all College-Runesmith interactions are restricted to people who are can be trusted not to be stupid, i.e. Lord Magisters and trusted regular Magisters (like us) everything should be fine.
Actually with that much runesmith favours, how much off the grudges the Karaz ankor have toward the empire could we buy off ?

The most straightforward implementations absolutely would, the tricky part is figuring out a way to create a visualization of Windsight without touching the brainmeats of the viewer.

I wonder if learning 'Arcane Dwarf' if it exists, would help with that, as we'd know the concepts and structures that dwarves use to describe magic, at least for a dwarf user.

Similarly perhaps with the lore of the various Ancestor gods, like Gazul Lore or Thungni Lore.

These are Mathilde's favors, not the colleges' favors or the empire's favors. All this talk of using the favors to help the colleges or even of asking our superiors for orders is seriously frustrating. Dwarves are very upthight about proper compensation, those favors are meant for us, as payment for something that we did. Of course we could use them to others benefit, but it is acceptable, even expected, that we use them for ourselves.

Why can't we be selfish once in a while ? This quest is called "Divided Loyalties" for Ranald's sake.
