Any thoughts right now about the Penthouse Options?

I am inclined to vote for the following

[ ] [ROOM] Shrine to Ranald

Praise Ranald!

[ ] [ROOM] Explosives Laboratory
[ ] [ROOM] Firing Range

Honestly, I can see synergies between both of them. For example, if we wanted to weaponize Aethyric Vitate, or if we want to have the Stirland Repeater studied more thoroughly, or if we (or more likely, our underlings) want to test and experiment with the various Skaven Weapons that we've accumulated during the last arc, I think both the Explosive Laboratory and Firing Range works in concert together - the Explosive Lab for constructing or taking apart these weapons and the Firing Range for testing them.

[ ] [ROOM] Vault

A must, because of all the loot we've collected in the last few turns, and the incredibly sensitive stuff we have on hand.

As for Books, Dwarven and Imperial Waystone Books are probably a no brainer.

@BoneyM A point of clarification please: are there books on the Geomantic Web from the College and Karaz Ankor, and if so they fall under the same topic as Waystones, or are they a separate topic? Thanks.

[ ] [DWARF] Have a Grandmaster Engineer have a go at the Stirland Repeater - 8 favors

What do people think of this, or some variation of it?

@BoneyM Anything wrong with the above?

Sure, that's something you could make happen.

What little is known by them about the Web is under the Waystone topic.

Just wondering, is the gyrocopter landing pad not available to build anymore due to it being a 'defense' to the dwarves?

Adding.

The gyrocopter landing pad is a separate Penthouse action from the one we chose.
Karag Nar Penthouse: each turn, you get ONE free choice in this category. Additional selections cost actions.
[ ] Have a tower built atop Karag Nar: -100gc for 1 room, bonus to room's purpose.
[ ] Have additional rooms excavated underneath your Penthouse: -100gc for 4 rooms.
[ ] Have a gyrocopter landing pad built into your balcony.
[ ] Your dungeon was built with a reasonable amount of paranoia. Apply an unreasonable amount of paranoia.
[ ] Add security measures to your Penthouse to prevent forcible entry.
See above; the landing pad wasn't an option the first time around, so unless you're making a deliberate change to make it accessible via the Penthouse excavation action, I don't think it should be available.

would it be redundant or insulting to have appropriately superior Dwarves in the line of work come look at the new Gunnery Branch in Eight Peaks @BoneyM ? I mean, my thinking was maybe we don't have the best in the Karaz Ankor present, and who we have have they're at least partially busy with other stuff I imagine.

Wasn't that the Timewarp?

Any spell that involves filling Mathilde's brainmeats with non-Ulgu magic has that result.

The reason that it's present at all is that there's nowhere near enough Engineer Dwarf-hours to go around.

Balcony landing pad will make the Eye of Gazul more accessible in an emergency than this one would.

Well, at least Ulgu objects won't do that to us. Let's carry around some Pendulums in our Pockets, those'll be fun.

Awesome, thank you very much for the clarification.

Personally I'm inclined to go for it anyway, since using the Eye of Gazul is unlikely to be a seconds-matter sort of situation, but I'm prepared to be convinced. Still really want the Guest Room and the Shrine, though.

the beginning of significant human civilian immigration to the Karak
A foothold no longer.

has requested to become part of the Karak-We
Best time for it. They may not fully understand all the implications but so long as they have the fundamentals the rest can be negotiated.
On the flipside everyone will be celebrating and in no mood to reject an established ally.

To your surprise, they've been keeping their own records,
Once more Mathilde's caution is proven correct. Even without teaching they would most certainly have figured out they were being shafted if we had tried that path.

[ ] [WE] Economic Integration
No need to leave them at the hunter-gatherer level when we can provide better.
They can think about having Hunters join the Rangers later.

Oh no. I do the same to my desktop. I even organize which browser has over a hundred of a given subject.

Edit: the fun with the phone really comes from when you have to scroll through for five minutes to find that one tab you want. There is no easy way to search the tabs. You have to do it all manually.
I... I can't I have to leave. That picture of all those tabs and all those browsers.

[ ] [BOON] Save it as a trump card to exploit an opportunity or address an emergency.
[ ] [BOON] I have no idea what to spend it on. Put the matter aside for now.

One of these. Save it for now. I definitely don't want to pick something financially focused, we want to use it to pursue goals. Either go for the Great Library thing people were talking about, or do the "Wizards shall always find safe haven within Karak Eight Peaks" thing that will be a powerful legacy and failsafe for the College's getting outlawed again, or save it for when we face a large problem we cannot solve on our own.

Also, I'm more than a little sad that the undeniable star of the last arc didn't get upgraded into General of Fog. Among other things, I have realized that this thread treats the lives under Mathilde's command waaaaaay more preciously than they do Mathilde's own safety oftentimes. Look at our careful maneuvering and waiting until the right moment for troop movements, and then look at how we chased down a goddamn Sorceror of an unknown Skaven magical discipline for what amounts to bonus points on top of a ridiculous victory. Stealth Assassin Elite Mathilde can be cool, but those war turns were unforgettable and it brought out the best from the thread.

The past few months have been incredibly tumultuous, and though you've been doing your best to juggle matters, there's a couple of balls you've been forced to park in mid-air until you had a spare minute to process them. The EIC reports were an easy matter to shelve, but you're still slightly nervous when you finally snatch a few moments to process your backlog and are relieved to find the news is all good. Roswita may have shown her inexperience in the overly-ambitious three-pronged assault, but with the campaign devolved into a much more basic brawl the Army of Stirland has found its feet and stamped out the Strigoi, with one confirmed dead and interred at Siegfriedhof, one cannibalized by a rival and probably out of the picture for at least a while, and a third fled the Hunger Wood with its army shattered. The Battle Wizards put in a decent showing, avoiding any major miscasts while still providing solid contributions to each major battle, and the Stirland Repeater's first substantial deployment was an overall success, with maintenance and logistical concerns outweighed by the sheer weight of fire it was capable of putting out at a moment's notice.
Good on Roswita. Now with the Hunger Woods pacified of organized opposition, she can turn her attention to the couple other vampires that inhabit the towns of Stirland. It looks like she will be able to finish the work that her father started within her lifetime, and still have plenty of time for the hard work of rehabilitating Sylvania.

I feel like our next target for magic items, if that's what we want to spend on instead of other stuff, should probably just be something that helps us spam invisibility. Great as a panic button, great for infiltration, great for pranking, and having it as an item minimizes most of its weaknesses.

Save total economic integration of the We for later. There's a big difference between "can conceptualize agency" and "is ready to go public". They're barely handling bartering right now; wait until they at least figure out lending so people can't fleece them. Also probably better to help them transition slowly and carefully. And, honestly, the deal they've struck still feels like we're robbing them blind...

I just realized I was potentially being dumb in my library plans.

@BoneyM: Are Bretonnian books available to us for either The Eonir of Laurelorn or Waystones? My belief is no, because the former is pretty far away from Bretonnia and the latter is a magical topic, but I would be remiss in my self-appointed duty as Library Guy if I didn't check.

No and no, for the reasons you gave.

I would go for Flame Storm, our belt makes us immune to fire and heat... So it is one of the only AOE battle magics that wouldn't accidentally hurt Mathilde...

Or Occam´s Mindrazor, I have never played Warhammer, but I have heard that it is one the most powerful Battle Magics and the best buff in the game.

Mostly it's that we hate the idea of fair fights, but Mathilde on the aggressive can basically always get an unfair fight.

Thinking something like

Economic Integration
Going ahead with the boon vote
Shrine/Guest Room/Wolf's Room/Gyrocopter Hangar
Shrug on the Library/Dwarf/Purchase plans.

College stuff I'd like to shell out for a magic marker for the Karak, getting an item of the improved MMAPP to spare Edda the indignity of having to crawl around on top of a table to edit the war map while we're not around.

1 or 2 favor for a useful trinket isn't too bad and if the dwarves are hesitant about using it themselves they can always hire a human to work the controls haha.
