I'd imagine that the best we could get would be commissioning two items and then the Runesmiths competing to outdo the other.
Thorek, I want a Really Badass Axe, Kragg I want a Really Badass Magic Grounding Rod, if you don't mind.

[X] This is Dawongr Weber's money. The funds will largely go projects within the Karaz Ankor - your tower for one, but also investing in the Undumgi or Ulrikadrin, or purchasing goods made by Dwarven artisans or sold in the markets of Barak Varr.

[X] Claim the site where Ranald mugged Mork and build a shrine to Ranald there.
[X] Convince Esbern and Seija to stay long enough to deal with the spiders in the Chiselwards.

I disagree regarding the scouting thing. The more time passes, the more likely some sort of reaction from our enemies, and we are best suited for finding out what they're doing.

And that's discounting any thoughts of future reconquest and occupation. But if want either involving the reconquest we need to actually work on it.
You have a point. Editing

We should probably ask what Ranald would prefer here. Does it serve him best for Mathild to take on the role as local leader of the Cult of Ranald? He has many other priests who could do that.
---
If Mathilde wants to claim the temple of an evil god, even if someone else was foolish enough to occupy it, even a hint should be enough to get it, and not just to curry favour, but when a wizard tells you to move out of a place like that, you don't ask for a second, you move. Adventurers in Warhammer may have their own brand of recklessness, but any surviving ones will be appropriately afraid of the dangers mysterious evil magic.

Althoughter, this ,eans that claiming the temple can be put pretty much at the end of the priority list. We'll probably want to get to it in a couple of years, after a priest of Ranald who can actually run the place and cast the divine ritual required to actually consecrate the place drifts in, but at the moment Mathilde is to busy to establish it,much too busy for the full time job of tending to a congregation, and can't even perform the divine magic required to actually turn it into a real temple. It shouldn't be considered on the same type of list as the options that have actual urgency.

This argument doesn't line up with past experience of the quest, nor - despite some voter's plans/ideas - the explicit words of the option.

A shrine to Ranald does not require a priest, magically-inclined or otherwise, to set-up. A shrine does not require a congregation. We do not have to take the position of local leader of Ranald, shrine or no shrine.

We don't need any help to set up a shrine to Ranald, and we don't need to make that shrine accessible to a congregation - like I've been saying, I want something like our Sunken Palace base for K8P, and we needed nothing but ourselves for that.
Ok, possibly some secret-squirrel help sourced from Belegor and Kragg to block off access, add concealed entrances, and some magic-grounding - but those are extras added on to the shrine to make it more useful, not something it needs to exist.

[ ] Claim the site where Ranald mugged Mork and build a shrine to Ranald there.

Ranald is cool but I'm not that interested in acting as pseudo-priest, we have a big backlog of stuff to research and stats to raise before we get into theurgy and there doesn't seem to be any competition for the space at the moment - not urgent. We can tap up an actual priest of Ranald when we next visit the Empire and we can leave claiming the shrine til we have one. I don't want to be Mayor. Mayors can't skip back to the Empire for a few weeks or months whenever they need to/feel like it.

We're already the mayor, as per our last vote. All you can do now is steer 'how', not 'if'.

Personally tutor Mathilde in any field not considered forbidden to non-Dwarves?
One point for skilled but common in dwarf society (Miners), two for specialized units (Rangers), three for true expertise (Ironbreakers), six for hero-level instruction, ten for contenders for most knowledgeable in their subject in the known world.
So...anyone want to save 10 points for tutoring from Kragg on Dwarf Magic Theory?

You know, I was sold on the Karag Nar Penthouse, but then I realized that we might want our laboratory to be a bit offsite in case of Miscasts and/or Explosions and/or Warp Fuckery.
I'm going to change mine to

Edit: Edited my original post, just want this opinion to be seen publically.

Was there a map of Karak Eight Peaks posted in this thread? I have some trouble finding a good one through google.

[X] This is Dame Weber's money. The funds will largely go towards investment in Stirland - possibly your fief, possibly the EIC, possibly investing elsewhere within the province.
[X] This is Magister Weber's money. Make no attempt to push the funds through any of the available loopholes and spend it all in plain sight of the College. You would be beholden to spend it on ways at least nominally good for the Empire, and soon.

[X] There's a growing concentration of royalty here. Get to know King Kazador, and this 'Sky-Thane' Prince Gotri.
[X] Scout the rest of the Eight Peaks, to find out what other horrors are waiting out there.
[X] Convince Esbern and Seija to stay long enough to deal with the spiders in the Chiselwards.
[X] Join Karak Azul as they raid and scout in force the other portions of the Karak.
[X] Write a series of papers on the magical phenomena you witnessed. Or better yet, get your Journeymanlings to do the actual writing.
[X] King Belegar is allowing you to use the King's Armoury. Recover your extant study materials from Stirland and tuck them away safely in there.
[X] Convince Esbern and Seija to stay long enough to hatch the supposedly Lustrian eggs and study and possibly train whatever hatches.
[X] All this time away has made you miss your friends. Visit Anton and Wilhelmina.
[X] You're going to have a rough time explaining your windfall to the Bursars. Better to get that over with.

It's about as forbidden as it gets. Even before you consider that Kragg doesn't exactly like us.

Well, Kragg doesn't seem to like many people, if at all. I do think we earned his respect though (consider him begrudgingly complimenting us), and he has shown a willingness to contribute to Mathilde if we spend enough favors.

But I really don't know what we could possibly learn from Kragg that wouldn't be forbidden for non-dwarfs to know.

This is not the case, though I mistakenly said it was after I misread a post. Mayor position is only taken if Mathilde decides to be Mayor and Undumgi leader as her next long-term position.
Define "Long-term position". At what point would it be reasonable to seek employment elsewhere? I definitely want to help with K8P, but I'm unsure about staying forever. I want to head back to the empire at least at some point in the future.

Pretty much everything ends up in the Collection of Important Information threadmark.

Normal turns, so likely several years. If you don't want to stick around K8P for several years, vote to go somewhere else when that vote comes up.

It was their money in the first place, makes sense to reinvest it back into them. Just not necessarily in the way they would have done themselves. Think of it as a tax.......... or a gambling tithe. Tee hee.

[X] The Grand Abyss
Oh my. Sorry Ranald, I'd love having you looking over Mathilde's shoulder while she works, but a Shadowmancer working above a pit so deep, dark, and massive that the Dwarves don't even know what's at the bottom? Who cares about the secrecy, that's just COOL. We could advertise. We could put up signs pointing downward, and all they'd say is WIZARD ↓.

[X] All this time away has made you miss your friends. Visit Anton and Wilhelmina.
So much else to do. But work is no excuse for neglecting friends.
Probably the best option for getting the EIC partially involved down here as well, now that I think about it...

That's also good, I like that. Easy to disguise the cost of it too, if we're busy spending money in the area.

[X] Convince Esbern and Seija to stay long enough to deal with the spiders in the Chiselwards.

This is the only option I want with a credible chance of losing, so I'll vote for it just in case.

If I was more confident that building up infrastructure in Karag Eight-Peaks would be counted as "for the benefit of the Empire," I think I'd go for Magister Weber and put as much as I could of it into the places where the two overlap.

[x] Write a series of papers on the magical phenomena you witnessed. Or better yet, get your Journeymanlings to do the actual writing.
This suggests a future of investigation and study at Karak Eight Peaks, and perhaps helping Johann poke at Skaven technology.

[ ] Convince Esbern and Seija to stay long enough to hatch the supposedly Lustrian eggs and study and possibly train whatever hatches.
This suggests a future catching up on your pre-existing study topics.

I'm invested in getting research done, so I'm likely going to try to support at least one research vote each time.

Edit: dropped the eggs, the series of papers is in a clear lead.

[x] Convince Esbern and Seija to stay long enough to deal with the spiders in the Chiselwards.

Alternate option for keeping the Ambers around, also having sorta-friendly Giant Spiders sounds fun.

[ ] There's a growing concentration of royalty here. Get to know King Kazador, and this 'Sky-Thane' Prince Gotri.
This suggests a future assisting Karak Eight Peaks with foreign relations, as a Spymaster focused on threats outside the Karak.

'Sky-Thane' appears to be about the Gyrocopters, which means the engineers. Given some of the things we're interested in doing, getting in good with those is an investment. They're likely more open then most dwarves to new things, too! ... Thinking about that, I had to look twice to be sure Thorgrim hadn't just de-facto exiled the guy. Not urgent, though.

[ ] Claim the site where Ranald mugged Mork and build a shrine to Ranald there.
This suggests a future assisting Karak Eight Peaks, as leader of the Undumgi and point of contact for the Ulricans.

Same reason I voted for working with the Undumgi last time, though given I'm not planning on doing more than the shrine and it doesn't seem to be urgent I'm willing to let it drop down to the next set of votes.
