Borek pissed off into Karag Dum and so the debt is outstanding.

If he wants his money back he can come down and ask for it.
[ ] Karak Vlag
There's rumours of an unknown Slayer carving a particularly bloody swathe through the beasts and marauders of northern Kislev. The only Dwarfhold anywhere near there is Karak Vlag. See what's happened to cause one of theirs to take the Slayer Oath.

If it wasn't for Laurent's new Skaven quest, I wouldn't have learned about this!

Well, welcome aboard.

Even if that is Borek- and I'd be happy if it's Borek, it'd mean that he's still alive and we might be able to get another tight-lipped sentence about the fate of Dum out of him- I'm sure we can work out a payment plan.

Oh, yeah. For me it's either "Reasonable payment plan" or "Go fuck yourself on that demigod your lot have bound up there." I have strong feelings wrt the idea that Mathilde will be told to just produce 2k gold unexpectedly. She's a Ranadlite. That money... is no longer resting in her account.

Thank you for pointing that out - I now hope that it turns out to be him, somehow (which I doubt tbh). It means we will be able to shake answers out of him.

Literally.

She's a Dwarf in good standing, if he tried to get it all immediately and didn't take no for an answer, she could take him to court.

10 quatloos that it's the parent of Borek's relative, the kid from the Gotrek and Felix books who hasn't been born yet who would have died by that point in OTL.

Fun fact: I've never read a book in my life. And that includes those GF books ppl keep mentioning.

So when the dice doth reached down and smote Gotrek upon the mountainside, and many wrestled with the feeling of betrayed expectation that arose from "this is not how narrative goes"... I was drinking mimosas and waiting for the next Flight School meme to drop.

My point is; I have no idea who that kid is and I revel in that particular ignorance.

But I'll trust your honesty on this when the cards are laid bare; and I'll bet two otter pics against your 10 quatloos that it is not the parent of Borek's relative.

If it's Borek, and that's a huge if, I would say the debt would either go up in smoke or he will tell us 'please donate it to a dwarf institution of your choice', or something. But I don't think there's any point in a Slayer wishing to keep personal debts. Not when becoming a Slayer could be considered, from a certain point of view, trying to settle a debt towards the entirety of the Karaz Ankor.

"Most of it was traded from the Dwarves back when they were allies. Apparently Master Runelord Thorek is discussing the possibility of resuming those shipments."

Boy, I really wish the vote to check in with Thorek were doing better. We're talking trade from the Empire, but if the dwarves start sending goods directly that would be a whole different kettle of fish.

@Boney, if we had to suddenly produce 2k gold could we borrow it somehow? Perhaps from the EIC, or the Grey College, or from some sort of Dwarf moneylender?

Edit : Actually, we still have outstanding Dwarf Boons. We can probably get cash from them.

I don't think it's Borek, and if it is I don't think he's taken the Slayer Oath in the name of remuneration, but since that prospect is extremely funny, I choose to act as though I believe it anyway.

Look, there's a very clear A-to-B.

Borek walked into Dum, basically went through the plot of Doom, and now, with nothing to live for and no purpose left, found the Axe of Grimnir and will go find his death.

(Joking, mostly)
