The fact that the scouts Mathilde was with just entered the fight at the very end shows how fast this all happened. Pretty crazy.

Turned out really well all in all. Although potentially we've got an immortal Dyrad nursing a grudge against us I suppose, but on the other hand maybe she's dead, or if alive won't even be able to find out who we were.

Waystone Ice Witches seems like the obvious pick for that slot, the other one I'm uncertain though.

Also nice that the Boyar will be getting checked out.

Strongly tempted to go one Library and one Waystone instead of both Waystone.

[ ] [KISLEV] Library: Bokha Palace

We've been talking a lot about the old Fire Spire recently. Any surviving books evacuated during the Great War might well have been unceremoniously dumped here and left to rot as their was no organization to claim them.

Or if you want to go more culture:

[ ] [KISLEV] Library: Magnus Gardens of Praag

[ ] [WIDOW] Waystone Project: Ice Witches

Probably this one for the Ice Witches, though.

This would be a tempting alternative to Kislev's participation as a polity if we weren't already damn certain that The Father applies. We can sweep them up next turn.
…What? I'm pretty sure we don't know who Father applies to. Our best guess is Haletha, but even that is just a guess, and has nothing to do with the Hag Witches.

- Before anyone asks: Mathilde doesn't know enough about Dryads to say whether or not this was a permakill, and didn't roll well enough on her Magesight to identify the trajectory of any departing soul or spirit.

And there's the disadvantage of using the dragonflask rearing it's head. Ah well, hopefully Drycha's dead-dead, but if she's not Mathilde has likely joined the short-list of meatbags Drycha really wants dead.

It's a bit sad to see the battle was so short, but a quick victory is probably the best outcome of any kind of conflict. Slava Kisliv indeed.

No hard feelings, obviously. Murking a Big Deal without even learning their name only for them to come back later only for us to go "who?" is great. I hope she does!

100% Ice Witches

However, EIC in Kislev may be good for getting some Gray Order informants in circulation, and having stronger back channels for the future.

[ ] [KISLEV] Waystone Project: Kislev
A formal partnership with Kislev itself will mean you will have easy access to its lands for study and experimentation in the later stages of the Waystone Project.

given free rain to mess around and to experimental magic in a foren nation should not be underestimated.

10/10

[ ] [KISLEV] Waystone Project: Hag Witches
Boris has a strong relationship with his Ungol subjects, and would be able to arrange Hag Witch cooperation for the Waystone Project if you ask for it.

only group we know that's actually figured out how to cleanse Dhar

10/10

[ ] [KISLEV] Library: Bokha Palace
After almost a thousand years of Kislev's often-tumultuous succession, it's anyone's guess what sort of books might have accumulated within the Palace Gospodarin, and what might have survived its near-destruction in the Great War.
[ ] [KISLEV] Library: University of Kislev
Significantly more modest than many equivalent institutions of the Empire but renowned in certain circles for the study of beasts and spirits, as the lines between the two are often blurred in Kislev.
[ ] [KISLEV] Library: Magnus Gardens of Praag
A surprising oasis of art and learning within the cursed city, the institutions of the Magnus Gardens produce some of the finest artists, musicians, and astrologers in the Old World.
[ ] [KISLEV] Library: Writer's Rooms of Kislev
The headquarters of the government-funded scribes for a mostly-illiterate country, Writer's Rooms boast over eight hundred years of the transcribed history and culture of Kislev.

all very tempting, but not 'the job', and things we can do later, if for more challenge and politics.

[ ] [KISLEV] EIC Foothold
Though it's far from any of the EIC's current outposts, a nod from the Tsarevich could open up a market that it is usually very difficult for Empire traders to get into.
[ ] [KISLEV] Manticore
If you have some use in mind for Manticore parts, the taxidermist could be made to hand over to you everything he removes from the beast.
[ ] [KISLEV] Boon
Leave the favour unpaid. One day he will be a Tzar, and a favour from a Tzar can be a great thing to have.

[ ] [WIDOW] Waystone Project: Ice Witches
You've worked well with the Ice Witches multiple times now. Seek to continue that trend by bringing them in to the Waystone Project.

what we want, and more then we came for.

10/10 option

[ ] [WIDOW] Library: Ice Court
If asked to contribute to your Library the Ice Witches are likely to carefully excise anything that might give insight into their own magic, but they would still have centuries of accumulated observations on the other magical phenomena of the Old World.

very unlikely to get access to this again through the Library actions, might have some clue hidden away in some notebook.

9/10

[ ] [WIDOW] Treeman wood
The most difficult of the trees felled this day, wood and spirit entwined is sure to make for useful materials that could be of use for either Collegiate or Dwarven artifice.
[ ] [WIDOW] Dryad wood
Less dense in power than the wood of a Treeman but greater in total mass, the large amount of spirit-manifested wood left behind by the defeated Dryads could be used to make something of considerable size or number.
[ ] [WIDOW] Boon
Leave the favour unpaid. You never know when Ice Witch assistance might come in handy.

- There will be a six hour moratorium to give other suggestions time to be suggested.
- While today was good work, it didn't save an entire Kingdom. Suggestions should be on the scale of a single skilled specialist or a single conversation the Tsarevich would need to have with someone.
- Before anyone asks: Mathilde doesn't know enough about Dryads to say whether or not this was a permakill, and didn't roll well enough on her Magesight to identify the trajectory of any departing soul or spirit.

[ ] [KISLEV] Waystone Project: Kislev

[ ] [KISLEV] Waystone Project: Hag Witches

[ ] [WIDOW] Waystone Project: Ice Witches

the real picks

[ ] [WIDOW] Library: Ice Court

and the challenger.

I think that's banking on the Father allowing us to recruit the Ostermark Hedgewise, and then using their connections to the Hags to recruit those. Of course, if we pick the Hags for the Kislev boon, we could also turn that around and use the Hags' connection to the Ostermark Hedgewise (along with us already having Kurtis's connections) to recruit them, if the Halétha being Ranald's daughter theory isn't true.

And right when the lion claws its way out of said valley, it steps onto a landmine.

I really feel terrible over how Drycha just went out like that, ignominiously dying and being virtually ineffective and no one even knowing who she was in her last fight.

It'd be like Mathilde getting into a bar fight in a random no-name shithole and dying from that and no one realizing this was Lord Magister Weber that was dead on the floor.
Here's hoping that we actually killed her.
Don't assume the closest thing to a Daemon in Athel Loren is permanent-dead, especially given she's been hit by divine-blessed weapons and just got dumped back in Forest Arkham Asylum. We probably left a real scar she's not going to get rid of anytime soon, especially given the magical elements involved, but with enough time the greatest evil Athel Loren has ever known will crawl out of the woods to demand someone's blood for this.

Question is how long that takes her, and whether she can successfully pull timey-wimey shenanigans to loop back around if we're long dead. Or just asking our Wood Elf friends to make inquiries into things.

Holy shit, the treeman jobbed and got buried.
Holy shit he scored several kills through that anyways. Dude was a fucking beast.

He's swinging a +30 modifier and it took two bad losses to bring him down, so yeah.

As for the vote...

So, Waystones: Kislev, and Waystones: Ice Witches. Extremely sexy as many of the other options are, I don't see why we'd do anything else.

Well life is more than Waystones. The Library is shaping up to be Mathilde's legacy.

I hope the Manticore is taxidermied in a lung/attacking position as if it is about to attack the person in front of it and that Boris places it in a position where it's the first thing someone sees upon entering a room, would be hilarious with how many people might initially freak out and also be one hell of a power play during negotiations.

Eh, I wouldn't go that far, most of Drycha's fights that go bad leave her with enough time to bug out--or at least prepare contingencies against. When things went bad for her here they went bad incredibly fucking fast when she thought she was walking into a milkrun.

She's not a Daemon. "Sucker punched with a cannonsword that you didn't even know hit that hard and then immediately murked by Maximum Carnage Bright Battle Magic" is enough to absolutely fucking destroy anything that isn't a straight up Daemon.

Even if she survived, she's probably not getting up from that until we're either long dead, or an actual peer of hers.

Given our communal endgoal, I see this as the natural dovetail

I agree with this.

Ice Witches are basically a freebie (I was expecting us to spend AP later to bring them onboard).

And getting advance permission from the Tsar to muck around in Praag later on should be invaluable. We'd get a way to see what a Waystone looks like when pushed to the absolute brink of failure but not yet over the edge (...hopefully).

I... think I've missed the discussion that provided strong evidence that the Hag Witches were linked to Shyalla's and Ranald's kids, would you mind linking me to the start of those posts plz? 'cuz my belief was that their followers were a small sub-sect within (some of) the Hedgewise groups

It's more about the Ostermark Hedgewise having connections with the Hags because they're right across the border from one another.
