Really glad that we didn't go for capture or shadow knifes. If he hadn't been so injured on the first attack he might actually have managed to succeed or at least gotten far enough well carving a bloody path that Alric was the one to stop him.

[X] The Longshanks

I wonder what the consequences of the flask would have been. He probably wouldn't have dodged that, but the damage would maybe have been lowered by his bonuses.

Our next action is going into the Griffon Wood. It would sure help if we had some tree huggers on side, ones with a skill at shooting gribbles in the woods would be all the better. On top of that they might know something about Waystones. The Cult is certainly old enough for it

[ ] The Templars of Sigmar
The information they provided demonstrated the value of a good relationship with the Holy Order of the Templars of Sigmar, and them getting the credit means that any attempts by others to investigate the matter further will run into an unyielding wall.
I hate that the last bit makes this a viable choice. Still not gonna vote for this though.

[ ] The Longshanks
Allow the Longshanks to take sole credit for the killing of a dangerous Magus and the thwarting of a Chaos plot. This would provide a very solid foundation to working with them again in the future.
This one is my first gut instinct choice due to how it ties this all into a cool side story in the life of Lady Magister Magda Mathilde. And if the connection does become useful in the near future, I'd consider that as a happy side benefit.

I am undully tempted to vote for the Yorself option though. It is just so brazen and deliciously tinged with the flavor of Corruption considering how it is the Tempter who we opposed here today.

You know, given how old the cult of Taal is, they might have some Waystone-related traditions. A solid rapport would be a good starting point for making that inquiry.

@Boney have we now missed the boat on plundering the manor?

With the confirmation that the trail has good odds of being stopped cold if we go for burying it I've lost interest in Yourself, If I thought it would merit a great deed it would be worth it, but I don't see that happening. So better relations and keeping out of the fray seem more valuable at the moment.

Longshanks are my first choice but I'm ok with giving the templars due credit.

It's pretty much stated to be the best option to keep Heidi's secret safe. And the Sigmarites ARE a great source of information and control three Electors. It's far from certain we won't need their help in the future be it for censored or restricted information or simply for their political backing.

And we'll be in a much better position to undermine them in the future if we are their apparent allies. The art of war is the art of deception.
By Others. The templars will still investigate

They're professional paranoids.

Just make it beneath notice, or the expected conclusion of a deal.
Plus side, with a Great Deed under her belt, Mira should be far harder to dislodge.

No idea where Alric's finding two Great Deeds short of dueling an Everchosen

22 college favour is very little and despite havinga small income stream I can see a lot of ways for that favour to get eaten.

[X] The Templars of Sigmar

I do not begrudge the Longshanks, and it is tempting to give extra favors to someone who put their lives on the line for their duty. Giving is a virtue, after all.

But I also think Mathilde, as a person, can set aside old grudges for the benefit of her true objectives.

The fact that we went for the Longshanks, and not the militia or other institution, already put them in a good light. We already did them a favor, and let them help and shine. The Lights, as well, already got their end of the bargain.

Crediting the Templars, on the other hand, is Mathilde favoring herself and getting exactly what she wants: more failsafes for Heidy's (and Ranald's) gambit.

Do it for Ranald, if for nobody else.

This gives us a new ally, though it is unclear how useful they will be. Also least likely to cause issues in the Light Order and most low profile way to resolve the issue for most observers.
[ ] The Order of Light
This would be more interesting if I had confidence we could get interesting rewards from Mira, maybe we could get access to their library. Seems to set up more politicking, both us with Mira, and in the Light Order.

Overall I feel like a friendly ally and a result that fits the MO of the Grey Order is a more natural resolution than trying to get more from Mira without guaranteed rewards.

You know, I'd love to know what went through the lead Longshank's head during this moment. He's facing down a cultist who's charging him with unnatural speed and agility, he's only got a knife to defend himself, he knows he's outclassed and probably about to die... and then Mathilde appears out of literal nowhere, decapitates the charging madman close enough that he gets hit with the blood spray, then calmly and collectedly thanks him for his assistance.
Its pretty freaking epic. Would make a great story at the tavern!

[X] The Longshanks
First impressions matter, and the Longshanks are among the 3 premier orgs for Chaos hunting. Let's make it a good one. It's true, they did help, it's their city. Good enough.
