Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
I will continue to claim that we should vote for books that are directly useful to us and then use backfill whenever we don't want anything specific.

On that note, here's a list of books that didn't win the last book vote, just so nobody forgets what they wanted before:

Library of Mourning:
- Geography of Laurelorn
- Beastmen
- Karaz Ankor
- Hoeth
- History of the Old World
- Hekarti
- Vaul
Barak Varr booksellers:
- Faiths of the Old World
- Medicine
- Tradecraft
Out of pocket:
- Asuryan
- Isha
- Vaul
- Hoeth
- Hekarti
- Loec
- Eonir Romance
- Imperial Verena Extensive
- Nordland History & Culture

Personally out of this list I care mostly about Hoeth, Hekarti and Faiths of the Old World right now. I want to approach both of those Houses and not do it blindly. And I want stuff on the minor gods.

Question.

Will the library have a self-destruct feature in the event it gets into the wrong hands? This amount of knowledge is too much to -not- have something like that.

[x] [DWARF] Rune up the Gyrocopter for comfort and sound (3 liters of AV)
[x] -[X] Hoeth
[x] [LIBRARY] Back-fill.
[x] -[x] Gods of Nehekhara

The whole point is that it stays around forever, so I hope it's more of a self-sealing feature that can be reversed under specific circumstances.

It's the way to get things done that are selfish, radical, experimental, weird, or otherwise no-questions-asked. For more normal stuff Mathilde has the reputation and contacts to just get it done if it would make Mathilde better at Mathilding or otherwise be of benefit to the Karaz Ankor as a whole.

I assume learning the theorised Arcane Khazalid still falls on the radical side of the fence?

Now you know how most people feel when talking to Mathilde. He went straight from poker face to business mode, so he didn't really give anything away. I've made the lack of information a bit more explicit, though.

Upon review of the nonsense drunk BeepSmile decided to... share with the world last night (sorry not sorry), I can say with 89% confidence that my post was made with comedic intent. (I am also 73% confident that my post is a photo of an egg-carton filled with table-tennis balls, so I may well be talking out of Mathilde's hat).

"[] [DWARF] Rune up the Gyrocopter for comfort and sound (3 liters of AV)"
As the person who talks most about this, I've been trying hold back fear of being annoying but I feel I need to ask now: Do you have a maximum limit to the "reasonable amount of AV that could be spent on this in mind" and if so what is it?

The thought of us spending 3 AV, but the thought of there being a mini-fridge and some anti-sway runic effects being gated behind 5 AV is hitting me with massive fomo, since we players are almost certainly never going to come back to this topic (especially since "get something runed, then upgrade that rue-set later" sounds like the exact opposite of how I believe runing things works).

Also, since we are considering various wizards to be the pilot, is it reasonable to get the pilot's area some comfort upgrades or was that already part of the plan?

I wish I had posted this last night, 'cuz now I'm worried about vote splitting between the 3 AV votes that have been cast already, and any other larger number :/

For what it's worth reason I settled on 3 liters was thus:
  1. Our sword which is the best weapon current runecraft can make was worth 25 Favor
  2. Our belt, which is a unique artifact only Kragg could make was worth 15 Favor
Nine Favor therefore seemed like a good number for minor and purely cosmetic improvements. We are not asking for anything special, only for normal common place runes that happen to be on a Gyrobomber.

On top of that since we are talking about minor improvements that are done piecemeal if we want to make more of them we can just pay for more later. There is no reason why they lights would get in the way of the mini fridge to use your example.

The problem with your post is that everything in it is entirely reasonable and well thought out. No. Bad. Do not want.

---

The truth of the matter is I want the best possible blingcarriage possible. I want unreasonable levels of bling. I want it to go to space, travel the ocean, turn invisible, make fresh tea ex nihilo, and have some form of chronal shielding (because to travel back and time and stop Mathilde's naming rampage is a big ask. Going back in time to blow up her gyrocarriage while she's in it sounds easier). :p

But there are many obvious reasons why Mathilde's not getting that, so I want to know what the 'reasonable' limit was and then push the thread to go for that. And I think I need to ask Boney this now or forever hold my peace.

(Also, yeah, sticking in a mini-fridge later might work well as a separate runic system, but I was thinking of how one can't upgrade an existing runeset and was picturing the runed gyrocarriage as an integrated system, and to try to change one part would have knock on effects on how other parts work, necessitating a full rebuild.
Obviously this is my own headcanon and Boney has wisely not bothered to try the probably impossible task of making coherent bottom-up rules for a set of top-down effects that were created by other people for a war game)

[x] [DWARF] Rune up the Gyrocopter for comfort, sound and durability (5 liters of AV)

Getting it runed to the same level of effort as the belt (though less effect, because it's a very new field of runecraft) actually sounds good to me - and durability in our flying machine is a big deal IMO; gyrocopters (and presumbly gyrocarriages too) tend to fail catastrophically.

This post would seem to Indicate it will not be an integrated effect, so I think we are OK for adding small things later since this will be a collection of said small things.
There theoretically could be runes on an entire gyrocopter the same way there are runes for an entire stone thrower, but it would require runes built specifically for the gyrocopter. Currently the only runes that could be applied to gyrocopters are ones on specific parts, which would only prevent enchantment of those parts.

In fact, the only time I ever saw him fail to do so is when he called on it to heal Abelhelm Van Hal."

"Ah," Starke says. "I think I see." By how guarded his expression has suddenly become, you suspect that either he doesn't, or he does extremely well.
I like that this got a reaction out of Starke. What that reaction specifically was, we can only speculate. But I think Mathilde gave him something to think about.

When considering how to spend large amounts of AV on luxuries, consider that we may one day find things that require spending it in significant amounts. Admittedly, now we've shut down the divine AV research path that's less likely, but it's still worth keeping in mind.

I have tried to make a plan using AV as a way to manipulate divine power and I got nothing but pushback. To be honest I think the thread is bored of AV, bored enough at least that I do not think three turns of AV production will make much of a difference when/if we find some use for it outside the dwarfs.

I don't know how accurate it is, but the description of the shelving makes me think of rolling stack shelving, the kind you might see in a proper library's archives or the like.

If we can get information that helps us use the Father with zero AP cost, we absolutely should make that our priority. It's a very powerful effect and we should maximize our odds of pulling it off. I feel very strongly about this.

We don't need anything from the Colleges, and I don't support pouring tons of valuable resources into our gyrocarriage before we have the ability to use it. We don't want to be the equivalent of those people who have tricked-out cars on blocks outside their house.

EDIT: Approval vote just in case

Fair point.

Being able to hear while it's running would make learning to pilot the gyrocarriage a little easier, but I doubt it would help much given the need for full concentration.
