I went through the exact same revelation. I wrote his name as Abelheim for so long, even having it in my list of Characters, when it's always been Abelhelm. Collapsed my reality for a moment there.
I believe it's Van Hal with one l, which again is sort of odd, because his ancestor was known as the "Necromancer Vanhel". The Helsing reference was toned down over the centuries.
