Well it robs us of the academic results of this here academic study. No amount of Ranald head pats will make up for that because they are qualitatively different.
We got nothing but posiblites at the moment and Fatih means we will not explore them. There is nothing in our divine-AV tree that is useble since this is the first option.
So it is a case of trading one potential result for another potential result. You are free to argue that one result is your preferred one, but if we select the option that you don't prefer that doesn't mean that we are being robbed of our results. As of now we have no results. All we have is two different directions that the results could end up being. While I think that the Truth has the higher upper ceiling it also has a lower floor: lack of available AP, being caught by a god separate to Ranald etc.
I can also argue if I want (I'm not but it is the mirror of your argument) that no amount of potential academic results or possibilities can make up for the immediate result we will get from Faith.

Here is my contribution to the discussion. :V
You wouldn't kill a god and then steal his sacred artifact! You wouldn't go to the toilet in his sacred artifact and then send it to the god's grieving widow, and then steal it again! Creating god imprints is a crime! if you do it you will face the consequences!

I would just like to say, this chapter has been out for almost 8 hours now, and for the majority of that time I've been either reading the thread or thinking on the choice and the various discussions on it, for which there has been much. I've been worried and split and determined. At one point it felt like looking over a cliffs edge. This chapter has been an absolute masterpiece in regards to player engagement, well done Boney!

How exactly is this screwing over Ranald? We just copied his 'energy pattern' for lack of a better word. He hasn't lost anything. He objected to us looking at him completely before, but now he's completely silent.

I don't buy that that's a coincidence.
Apparently there's a divine conspiracy to keep such things secret and he's already told us off for messing with such before so until there's more reason to suggest otherwise I'll assume this a misuse of his coin he wouldn't approve

But what would happen if Mathilde reused the crystal when she imprints Shallya?

... Ranald/Shallya godling imprint. Let sit in Aethyric Vitae for 8-9 month. :drevil:

Faking a priest is as easy as bullshitting fast and having the right robe. The vast majority of people do not have witch sight.
The cults have managed to survive thousands of years of infiltration attempts by worshippers of Tzeentch and Slaanesh. Logic dictates that leading congregations into worshipping Chaos be a little harder than that.

[X] Truth

I honestly think it quite unlikely Ranald is at all bothered by further investigation into other gods that this implies, based on the expanded clarification of his response to the previous action.

So that just leaves the risk of blowback from other gods. Which I think Mathilde is probably capable of avoiding.

There are quite literally chaos cults that do that all over the place, there are also thoroughly unmagical witch hunters who shoot them in the head. for obvious and subtle signs of heresy Not everything is about witch sight.

He politely told us to stop doing something that this experiment has shown could have driven Mathilde mad. He did not issue a blanket ban on any divine study at all.

Frankly, we've got enough shit on our plates right now.
Eh, no matter what wins I doubt we are freeing up more AP to follow-up for quite a while.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that just as the "Faith" option isn't going to secretly turn out to also be the "research" option too, so too will the "Truth" option not also turn out to have been the "be pious to Ranald" option all along.

"Vote for what you actually want" cuts both ways.
While true, we need to keep in mind what each vote is actually about.

The Prudence vote specifically mentions never letting AV touch divine power. However the Faith option only talks about the crystal with the godly fingerprint. It is reasonable to conclude that Faith doesn't block off further investigation of what AV can do for gods.

Examples: Can AV be used to help local gods contain Vampires, as our priestly friend was trying?
Can AV be used to saturate an area with a god's power and allow them to enact miracles more easily?

There has been plenty of disasters during that time tough which can be stopped from repeating here and now.

While I won't be too upset if Truth wins, and I do want to study the Gods, I'm not willing to go behind Ranald's back for it regardless of if he might turn out to be okay with it or not. If people really wanted to go in that direction, we should have voted for Mystic or Theologian to win.

[X] Faith

Let's feed Ranald some treats we ripped off from him for the headpats.

[X] Faith

If Ranald wants us to go spread the knowledge and do this to the other gods, he'll let us know when we sacrifice it to him. If he doesn't, well, then he wouldn't.
