Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
I'm just blindly guessing and overreaching here, but is it possible that Zeqing's site has Music in it (even though it explicitly just say Darkness)

Zeqing's Site is Cold/Dark/Music:

Origin Temple of Winter's Muse
Multiplies success for Cold, Dark, and Music keyword arts by 1.3 per applicable keyword(Ex. An art with cold and Music keywords receives a 1.6 multiplier)

And that's a ninja. But I've got a quote, so :p.

You know what would be cool? If Zeqing would give us a Darkness/Wind song :(

Wind is part of blizzards too you know.
Yes it would be nice if one of our patrons actually dropped an art on us that utilises our natural elemental affinity. OTOH Why start now?:(

Seriously though it's gotten really, really irritating how reluctant our various patrons have been to actually give us an art that suits our natural talents. I'm still mad about FSS, with a technique calling "the howl of blizzard", having no wind in it at all.

Ah well, just another reason people hate Ji Rong and his picture perfect elemental suite.

Well if the mountain does not come to Muhammad, Muhammad must go to the mountain! We might have to spend some points to get an intructor.

The thing about builds, however, is that they really aren't as simple as "just count the number of elements you have". Take, for instance, a pure "ice" build. This could run Darkness/Water/Wind - which looks like a tri-element core. However, with ice being Darkness/Water or Water/Wind, what this build could actually be could be a whole lot of either Darkness/Water or Water/Wind arts. In other words, you could run it entirely off ++Water bonuses, just like a mono-water build. By controlling the *combinations* of elements you use you can provide thematic coherency and effectively reduce the number of elements you're "running" while having a large number of elements. A similar example would be a yin Fire-Wind-Water Ice/Ash build, which could be run purely off ++Wind stacking.

Or something like Ling Qi and Sixiang's key 'Or' bonuses, where it's Moon or Music that get the +0.2 to their multiplier from each set.

Which is what a large chunk of our key Arts is running off of at the moment, and part of why we're so eager every time we see 'Moon' or 'Music' in an Art.

Well, the good thing is that we are getting what looks like a potent wind art in the way of HDW which seems all about seeing patterns the ties between people. It even can use the ties we forge to protect our allies!

So it looks like we are bringing wind back into our build with a strong replacement of FZ, even if it is operating completely differently than FZ ever did.

Soooooo given Argent Qi is neutralish and Six was (I think?) using it to show us a vision of their memories, would the other two sites flavored or distorted it?

Naw, Sixiang was using the qi to crash absorb so they didn't have to knock themselves out for a month due to overdoing it. We'll probably see how when her breakthrough is complete. Think our Green breakthrough.

The site call was her forming her inner cosmos and choices which needed a bit more power because she overdid it.
The current vote is which portion of her internal cosmos took priority(i.e. the Moon Peak Home choice for us)

If my guess is right, Sixiang is part of K-ON now :p

Oh, ENM has wind in it. I feel better about this vote now.

Is Discord Shadow Cabal planning on learning it?

Yaaas. Ling Qi one woman band is a go?

Now all we need is to teach Zhengui some rhythm. Musical turtlesnek?
Or maybe Zhengui can just set up the atmosphere? Maybe blot out the sun and twist the plant life around to give the Band proper ambiance.

:thonk:
Well, we have (will have hopefully) a band. Imagine Zhengui making us a Stage. A nice willow tree with a jutting branch forming enough space for all our crap. Then imagine that willow tree, sans the branch, on fire. Then imagine ash blotting out the sky, while all the trees and shrubs sway and dance to our happy fun music band.

Wouldnt that just be the best way to sing happy birthday to Mom and little sis?

Cannot wait till Green 3 where we'll finally alter our arts to our heart's content and I don't have to worry about "too many elements" in Ling Qi and the growing headache in just thinking about it.

supposed to be pretty hard even at green. We might be able to change a single aspect of it or something, but more would supposedly take higher realms to achieve. And is risky to boot.

That's not how art modification works at Green 3

Here's the tutorial on art alteration from the front page
Art alteration

Art alteration is unlocked at green/bronze 3. However, the alterations one can make at this level are limited to keyword substitution. A cultivator may spend actions further cultivating a mastered art, and alterations require 25 successes per level of potency. EG. Red 1 art requires 25 successes, yellow one art requires 100.

On completing this the cultivator will be given a list of possible changes available to the keyword they chose, based on their domain and abilities. An altered keyword cannot be altered again until green/bronze 5

Altering keywords will have varied and uncertain effects on arts, more fine control over changes can be attained at higher cultivation.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure we'll be more focused on meridian scrunching (so we can have even more elements and more arts) than on trying to take away various elements from what we currently have.

Turn 2: Arc 2-3
Ling Qi thought hard on her answer, floating there is the dissolving dream. It was a difficult question. She knew that elements were, in the end just simplifications. Shorthands to understanding of the world. They could be divided or added together in an endless number of ways and as such, deciding which one was the best was in many ways an exercise in futility. Yet there was still value to the question, because despite their differing natures, she and Sixiang were both young and small, and that shorthand was their only way of understanding.

Ling Qi did not miss her past. She had no desire to go back to the way she was. There was nothing of value in the scrabbling, desperate, starved thing she had been… but some of the things that had arisen from that state held some meaning. The instinct to come at problems from odd angles, to avoid direct clashes, was one of them. There was nothing wrong with using the strength she now had Ling Qi thought, but forgetting that there were and could be other options was a mistake. She loved the power she had gained, but there were times when she might have been better served by less direct approaches.

Here, in this place, her thoughts were open to Sixiang, her muse, and so the spirit understood even as she reached her answer. Wind, adaptability and cunning, though it had been born of a time she never wished to return to it was a tool that she did not want to let grow rusty.

She felt the whisper of Sixiang's touch, a pat on her metaphysical shoulder. She understood, though it was time for them to cultivate now. Ling Qi was welcome to remain at the seaside, if she liked.

With a shuddering gasp, Ling Qi's eyes snapped open, and her senses cleared. She lay on the shore of the sea of colors, head pillowed on a soft cushion, and her body warm between a thick quilt. Slowly, she sat up, shaking her head as she got her thoughts in order. It was a strange thing, to awake inside of a dream. It made her wonder just how many layers there were to consciousness and the human mind. Staring down at her hands, she closed them into fists and opened them again, wondering at the fading sense of foreignness that came from returning to her body… or a facsimile thereof.

She could leave the dream now, she was sure, and return to her day. Sixiang was fine, and just finishing their cultivation, but… somehow, she did not want to leave. Not yet. She threw off her quilt, ignoring it as it dissolved into fluttering sparks, and returned to the side of the sea, colorful waters lapping at her ankles, while her gown somehow remained perfectly dry. She recalled the flashes of experience that she could still recall, from the numberless cycles existing as the beings that comprised Sixiang in the past.

She had a rather narrow vision of the world, didn't she? Ling Qi smiled wryly at the thought, she often focused so hard on what was in front of her that she missed what was happening all around. Going from one thing to the next without pausing to look back… that wasn't wind though, not really, was it? After all, the wind touched and connected all things, she had learned that much from her tutor Bian Ya well back into the previous year.

It seemed awfully limiting, to ignore all other forms of expression in favor of music. Smiling, Ling Qi crouched, plunged her hands into the multihued waters and submersed herself into the dreams of a millenia worth of creative souls.

"You really got into that didn't you?" Sixiang's voice buzzed her her ears, and for the second time, Ling Qi's eyes snapped open. "I haven't seen you sleep that long in all the time I've known you."

Ling Qi looked around the meditation room, blinking away the now unfamiliar bleariness of a deep sleep. "How long was I asleep?"

"A good six hours, lazybones," Sixiang teased. Ling Qi followed the sound of their voice, but saw nothing at its point of origin.

Ling Qi winced. "Six hours?" she fretted. "What a waste. I'm still going to have too…" she trailed off furrowing her brows. Sixiang's voice had made actual sound. "Sixiang, did you…?"

"I'm just manipulating the wind," the spirit tittered. "This is kinda fun! I wonder if..."

Ling Qi blinked as the argent mist shimmered and writhed, tugged as if by the hands of invisible sculpture. She could feel Sixiang's qi spreading out through her own channels, tugging and flucking at strands of wind. "Mm… no visual stuff is still out of reach yet," the spirit grumbled, sounding a bit disapointed. "It's just too complicated."

"It looks like you'll just have to be diligent then," Ling Qi replied primly as she moved to stand, washing away the stiffness in her limbs with a minor pulse of qi.

"...That sounds way too hard, shouldn't I just wait for another inspiration?" Sixiang whined.

"You of all people should know perfectly well how that works out," Ling Qi replied dryly. Suddenly though, a horrifying thought dawned. "Sixiang… you're going to control yourself, right?"

"I don't know what you mean!" the muse replied in a sing song voice that gave Ling Qi the shivers. Just what had she gotten herself into?

Ignoring the muses laughter, Ling Qi left the mediation room. She had so much to catch up on if she wanted to start her cultivation on time…
