Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
Yes yes, we all know and love the toxic yuri as presented by yrsillar's excellent writing, but forget about that, whats truly important in this commission is this:
"I'm sorry Grandpa."

Small, high, weak.

Liling's stomach churned at the sound of her own voice.
Even the thinnest of evidence to add to my agenda of "sun liling is a transmasc egg" :V

True Good Ending unlocked.

Edit: I still think Liling's self-image issues are basically just hating her courtier mother, and resemblances to her, really hard. That being true doesn't rule out her(?) being trans, ofc.

Does anybody know what threadmark the original after Tournament Sun Liling — Grandpa discussion was? Some of the dialogue seems familiar but I'm interested to see where it diverges

Did we have an 'after tournament' sun liling pov? i know we had after the prelims, which is this: Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest) Original - Fantasy

Interlude: Sun Liling - Forge of Destiny

In a harshly lit garden of tall yellow flowers at the center of the verdant compound which belonged to the Sun family, the heir of Sun Shao scowled at (...)

I'll note that that interlude is in fact the bit where i first went "is sun liling an egg? with her comments on mirrors and her 'soft, feminine features'"

"No. Do not be sorry, Liling. Even I did not think those worms would go so far publicly. That toxin was rendered from a fourth-grade reagent, even leaving aside what that girl was allowed to do to herself."
Yeah, that's right. Your heir was defeated by a street rat girl who got where she was without any cultivation aid from her White Serpent girlfriend, and she got said fourth-grade reagent from a super dangerous spirit on her own. Everything Ling Qi used to beat Liling she got fair and square from stuff accessible to any Outer Sect disciple.
In other words: git gud, noob.

I mean to be fair, "the empire and/or sect tacitly let the bai cheat the rules a little" would normally be the more likely interpretation for how she got such a powerful poison, especially when combined with the fact that "the empire and/or sect tacitly let this random orphan go deeply down a spirit cultivation path that is officially heterodox and goes against one of the core rationales behind the Ministry of Integrity finding these rogue talents in the first place" :p

Yeah, because when things like tools above the contestants' level are allowed to be used without censure, the only thing the contest showcas a is who has deeper pockets.

Honestly Shao is not wrong in his thought process here. LQ should have been disqualified for that maneuver, and the sect should have been censured for allowing a student to mutilated themselves so.

The fact that neither of the things happened is a black market on both the sect and the throne.

I mean...canon ling qi had a 4th realm reagent she got directly from a sect-intended trial, that got processed by an actual (if "random") craft focused person probably in the 4th realm or at least higher 3rd, into her domain blade. Also, you know. the Liming thread in her dress :V and the never seen before new breed of xuan wu, and--

The "the sect shouldn't have let her mutilate herself" argument is more persuasive though of course then we get to compare to Gu Xiulan and then look at how, iirc, Elder Ying has one of her core Insights based around letting students risk themselves if they choose to do so for advancement

Oh while i'm here, some WoG on offscreen stuff in Bloodfall:
ye, GG at least managed to get in [the inner sect] due to the shift in focus

This has got to suck for Meizhen. I mean sure your first love gets to be with you but they are carving themselves into a tool, something your family is encouraging while being assholes about it never being good enough.

It's not going to be an equal partnership and even behind closed doors you can't pretend it is either. Eventually you are going to be left with not the girl that is your girlfriend but a servant that utterly obeys you, an object for your use.

Well presuming that Meizhen doesn't find some way to temper this - because Ling Qi looks to be past caring about that.
I'm curious what Shenhua's up to in this timeline, though.
Torturing her daughter if her performance is not up to par.
Ah, sorry - I mean 'adjusting' her daughter.
