Geez, ive really been low balling how dangerous those things are.
There's also the whole civilization eastward who had to build a system to contain the dead.

So in the West we have a vast desert and the nomadic Gold Fields to hold them off, South these angry mountains/volcanoes and a star, East the egypt flavored civilization and North is straight up ocean (and near the Maelstrom I think?).

There's no winning, only grinding attrition where everyone has to outlast the dead.

In the chunks of the Golden Fields coastal territories which survived, it's the Jin doing it. Since they incorporated the isolated coastal regions into the Alabaster Sands. Further to the east is ??? though yeah.

Going off the world map post, the maelstrom is farther away from the coast, but yeah its very much a situation of anything and everything even relatively nearby being forced to deal with the unending incursion of the Dead. And have been stuck doing so for the last uh…several thousand years i think? I don't remember when specifically it happened, but i know it was a long ass time ago.
