The Long Founding (Warhammer 40k)

Unfortunately as shown by the Minotaurs and Marines Malevolent Chapter's are going to be involved in politics eventually and were going to want to curve the Lords of Terra at some point.
Those are terrible examples since the Malevolent are such assholes that everyone hates and the Minotaurs are one single exception in a galaxy of SM's proving that it's a serious non issue of you can only use one single example.

And again, our job is not politic nor is it the space marines. They absolutely are not going to do shit against the High Lords because it's not their jobs. We don't control them and their morals are vastly different than real world modern people.

The reason the MM can get away with what they do is because they do stuff for the Lords Of Terra.

Golden Scales (Mutation/Salamanders/Grimm Interrupt): Originally, this mutation would have caused a horrific transformation into a carnivorous, lizard like creature, but due to the quick intervention of the attending Genetor it's full impact has thankfully been blunted. Instead, when this mutation manifests the affected Marines gain patches of glittering golden scales on their skin, as well as a very strong resistance to fire and psychic attacks. You have a migraine.
Our scales are like tenfold shields!

-Purging Flame: The Pyromantic assaults from this Chapter's Librarians are exceptionally devastating to all those struck by it, especially Chaos and its servants.
"Do not mess with the Emperor's Dragons, for you are crunchy when roasted and taste good with Ketchup".

Could I suggest political training? With the Anathemic nature these boys have and their Empathy they could legitimately be able to steer the Imperium in a better direction. Also counter Intel would also be good.
No.

The QM has already said that the timeline won't be changed to much. Astartes getting involved in politics makes people antsy; the Horus Heresy is remembered.

And politics is the last thing they should be involved in. This chapter has a specific purpose for the Emperor we should not dilute that purpose, but enhanced it. They will already have political protection via the Emperor and the Custodes.

I think blademaster would be a great pick since when combined with their strong psyker powers we would be getting the equivalent of paladins/magical knights. Imagine these guys riding golden dragons while wielding swords backed by legendary skills. Not to mention that the sword skills could be combined with their high magical skill.
They already have the blademaster trait.

Either Librarians or Techmarines are good options, I feel -- if partially to further enhance their psychic capabilities and take advantage of their unique physiology as well as their position to guard crucial tech.

Techmarines would be a good option. They were specifically created to look after certain technology. Salamanders are also known for craftsmanship and such. Could give an interesting combo alongside thousand sons.

Don't we already have a hold out for the Imperial Creed? Like its it's own realm?
Yes. A subrealm like Ultramar. But that is about the limit of the changes we can do. The broad strokes of the timeline are going to occur. We can change the details though.

And this chapter is the Emperor's project. What happens here is more about what he wants than anything about what we want. The Emperor is going to have orders for them. Their plotline is pretty much set by the Emperor its our job to make the best chapter to fulfil that plotline.

I absolutely agree that we should work with improving what they already have so that they could better do the job the Emperor actually intended. As for the Blade Master the QM confirmed that doubling up on a trait that they rolled would push them into legendary skills in said category or close to it.

again, that was under very specific circumstances using a chapter whose base trait was literally spreading the ideology of the planet they were on. Which is why people went with Word Bearers for the chimera trait, Ultramarines to absorb more planetary traits while choosing a planet that specifically practiced an ideology that we wanted to spread.

I suggest putting an alternate plan using in extra Dreadnaughts because people are hoping for a special unit and we have seen that they can actually combo with psyker powers. Would especially work well with tech marines. Besides seems like it would increase the number of people voting for said plan.

[] Plan Surviving in Segmentum Solar V1.1 (with Extra Thunderhawks)
-[ ] Emperor's Dragons
-[ ] White as Primary Color, Golden as Secondary Color
-[ ] Golden Dragon's head that "breathes fire", on White background
-[ ] "We are flames that burn both Warp Spawn and their servants in Materium. However, loyal subjects of Emperor are spared of our Wrath."
-[ ] Entrenchment: The Chapter is better at erecting and maintaining fortifications than average.
-[ ] Counterintelligence Training: The Chapter is proficient in the art of detecting and thwarting enemy infiltration attempts.
-[ ] Politics: This Chapter has grown adept at manipulating the surrounding political landscape. A sad necessity, in the increasingly politically driven Imperium.
-[ ] Extra Thunderhawks: The Chapter has access to additional Thunderhawks, of both Gunship, Transporter and Annihilator models, giving them superior heavy air power.

-----+++---------

-[] Plan Surviving in Segmentum Solar V1.2 (with Extra Dreadnoughts)
-[ ] Emperor's Dragons

-[ ] Emperor's Dragons
-[ ] White as Primary Color, Golden as Secondary Color

I could definitely make a version that swaps the Assault Packs for Extra Dreads.

Hmmm. Okay that's going to make me change my plan.

[] Plan: Imperial Dragons
-[ ] Imperial Dragons
-[ ] Golden Primarily, Black Secondary
-[ ] Golden Dragon head on Black background (This but reversed colors)
-[ ] "We are the Emperor's Dragons!"/"Fear when the Emperor's Dragons are kind no more!"
-[ ] Librarians: The Chapter's Librarians are particularly well trained, and have far greater resistance to the temptations of the warp. They are far less likely to fall to Perils of the Warp, and offer more potent psychic support.
-[ ] Techmarines: This chapter has more Techmarines in its ranks than normal, improving the quality of their equipment and allowing them to create a greater quantity of advanced wargear.
-[ ] Blademasters: The Chapter's Marines have honed their skills with the blade, and are among the finest swordsmen in the Imperium.
-[ ] Extra Dreadnaughts: The Chapter has more Dreadnought hulls than normal, letting it field more of the venerable ancients… if it has enough wounded veterans to pilot them, of course.

I'm hoping we get psychic sword dreadnoughts.

I could definitely make a version that swaps the Assault Packs for Extra Dreads.
If swap it out for dreadnoughts I'll vote for it. Because that's basically my plan just with a different skin and honestly I think I like your skin better in some ways.

Here.

[] Plan: Dragonborn Paladins
-[] Name: The Dragons Radiant
-[] Colors: Gold Primary, Royal Blue Secondary
-[] Chapter Symbol: A Dragon's Head within a Star all done in gold on royal blue background.
-[] Chapter Creed: "The People Are The Emperor's Treasure, Guard Them Well!"
-[] Battle Cry: "We Are The Light And Flame!"

I think we should go with politics and/or counterinteligence, the learning trait problably means that they can learn from other chapters

-Fast Learners: Marines from this Chapter are fast learners in all fields of study, leading them to be skilled in a number of fields.

Don't know if they can learn from other chapters, but they problably can.

Also, the purpose of this cha`ter is not to go around solving problems (or at least not it's main purpose), so we should focus on what we should give them in order to better do such task. Techmarines for the [REDACTED], is a must, problably, counterinteligence to keep any cult/alpha legion/traitors away from it too, they would problably need politics to keep annoying people *cough* Inquisition *cough* *cough*Ecclesiarty *cough**cough* Adepa sororitas *cough* away from it, adter all the ecclesiarty could try to force that world into a shrine world, which could cause security risks for the chapter purpose, the inquisition can't keep their nose outside anything, because that is their purpose, and the sororitas won't be a problem if the chapter can handle the church.

Also politics could allow them to get their equipment faster or even get more, and as have been said before, maybe get training or even squads from other chapters to help them.
Politics can be usefull for a lot of things.

The fourth trait training i would go for artillery training, they can get a good fortress from iron warriors, or iron fist or any chapter with entrenchment, but operating artillery is a great boon.

Also librarian training could be bargained with politics, even if it takes time.

[] Plan: Hic Sunt Dracones

The only thing to dislike about this plan is the name :p
please come up with a better one
