The Long Founding (Warhammer 40k)

-Herald Dreadnaughts: Dreadnaughts with one of the winged Heralds entombed within. Over time, the power of the Herald's aura seems to seep into the Dreadnaught's own chassis, causing mere contact with these ancients to eat away at the forces of Chaos. Due to the Seraph Brotherhood being a Blood Angels successor, they have also gained the ability for Dreadnaughts to still actively use psychic powers, something that is employed to merciless effect whenever a Librarian Herald is entombed. To the immense chagrin of Chaos, the aura of these Librarian Herald Dreadnaughts does not stop getting stronger while the Dreadnaughts slumber. It is said the eldest of these heroic Dreadnoughts, an ancient named Germeh Scourge, has become so powerful in his millenia of life that even the mere act of him waking up is enough to banish swathes of weaker daemons.
was this guy awakened in the cadia system during the 13th black crusade and stop cadia from braking?

I like to think the Inquisition's back-up plan for Chaos starting to win is simply letting the Seraph Brotherhood ignore the Codex completely and start Legion building.

Because nothing would give the Traitors heart attacks like thousands of Seraphs coming for their heads.
From a Chaos founding point of view they make me very glad the quests aren't connected

If the Seraph brotherhood is on the Fucked half of the rift with the other blood angels, I most certainly could see select trusted chapter's getting the go ahead to ignore the limits, and if the crisis ever passes you could have a repeat of the second founding with the legion strengh marine legions being broken up.

If their was ever a crisis that could see the space marines being told to go recruitment free and exceed the chapter system, Being on the dark imperial half of the great rift could almost certainly be considered it.
of course, the only people who could give that order would be Gulliman Or Dante.

I am honestly surprised they didn't receive an exemption like the one of the Iron Wardens given their cultist infestation Yarara seems like the kind of scenario that would merit ignoring the codex

It's nice to see that with just one Chapter, we've ruined many Chaos folks days across time, probably can hold off on another Chaos focused chapter and do something about the Xenos next, or like something to make the Imperium less awful... comparatively, no matter what it's gonna suck. But something to make the eventual shattering less bad is always good.

For next round let's try and snatch away Emperor's Landing before the Ecclesiarchy can grab it, slap a Thousand Sons chapter on the world and give these guys either the Bird Hunting Mission or the New Bolter Pattern one.

Ehh. Personally, I would prefer not giving the Thousand Sons Chapter any missions. Bird Hunting may still work, what with Emperor's essence, but I think it would be better to use the planet with the anti-warp crab for it. Actually my plan "Witch Blades" at the beginning of this turn, assumed that we will use Blood Angels geneseed for it, basically anti-warp, melee monsters to kick Tzeentch teeth in.

I still want to use Salamanders for Emperor's Landing, either alone or hybridized with the Thousand Sons so that we can get holy dragons.

That is two unstable gene seeds lets not ask for 40k to kick us in the fucking teeth.
Not true. Salamanders geneseed is mutation prone but those are positive mutations.
Sons of Vulkan, the Salamanders are somewhat mutation prone, yet most deviations within their gene-seed are wholly positive - taking the form of increased temperature resistance, radiological resistance, and enhanced healing capability as well as their signature cosmetic mutation.
Combining Salamanders with Thousand Sons could result in a Chapter with large amounts of mutations that helps them in combat and makes them superior to non-mutated Astartes of more stable geneseed. There's no reason to shoot down the idea before we try it.

As long as we keep the Salamander's as the primary gene-seed we shouldn't suffer any...catastrophic like the shape-change/Spawndom, we'd probably end up with some more...sever mutation, maybe even something like the Black Dragons but well. Combining the physical fortitude of Vulkan's boys and the psychic might of the Egyptians we will be magnificent.

However...White Scars with spider horses in power armor and grav-boots on those horses? I must have it.

-In a particularly legendary campaign, the Seraph Brotherhood kill every last Chaos Cultist within 10 sectors of their homeworld, with not even the desperate mass summoning of Daemons slowing down the Blood Angels successor Chapter. Sadly, even this legendary feat could not completely stamp out Yararara's infestation of cultists, who remain stubbornly extant against all logic.

you know, I think at this point not even the cultist themselves know what the hell is going on.

Heres the thing, i think we can generally agree that taking pure thousand sons geneseed is not a good idea.
The question then becomes who to hybridize them with, Ultramarines for stability? Salamanders in the hope that their generally positive mutations cancel out the flesh change? Something else altogether?

Honestly id try it with ultramarines first, but the salamander combo with emperors landing also has potential, we'd definitely need to max adaptable geneseed for that tho.

Diplomatic Relationships
I'm surprised that the Inquisition, the Ecclesiarchy as a whole, the Imperial Guard and Adeptus Custodes (considering they gave a Guardian Spear for them to study and develop themselves) are not part of this.

Or is this the case of the Inquisition being too scared to approach for whatever reason, the Ecclesiarchy just following the Sisters of Battle, the Imperial Guard being purged afterwards due to Chaos knowledge and the Custodes just not caring?

Personally I purpose for our backlog us to make a luna wolves successor specifically made to kick Abbadon and the black legion in the teeth repeatedly.

1 because fuck Abbadon and 2 someone on the side of chaos will probably tell Abbadon of the gene father of said group because chaos is a dick and his meltdown at the revelation that his own brothers are causing so much grief to him will be a thing of beauty.

Mmh, i want to see Saint Celestine, "His Angel" herself flying to battle with a full company of Angel winged Sons of THE Angel at her side. Kinda of a miss opportunity for it to be part of the chapter's history

Considering the absolute clusterfuck that is the climax of the battle of cadia in the 13th black crusade it probably happened but wasn't given special mention because of everything else happening at the same time.

Blood Slayers
Also @undead frog where do the Blood Slayers rank act? Regular marines, specialist or something else entirely?
I'd say specialists.

Very, very, very anti chaos specalists.

Like this are the guys who live in society almost built from the ground up to fight/kill chaos, are part of space marine chapter that also fights chaos most of the time, and even have peers with basically superpowers (Or have those powers themselves) that are specifically very good against chaos.

And you know what they decide.

That all of that isn't killing chaos enough for them.

Ordo Mallius Inquisitors sometimes request them for so long the chapter just writes them as 'gone' and recruit replacements.
