Super Robot Quest

[X]Plan: Engineers deserve some time off

We absolutely need to grab the landing pad for the resource boost, and the bonus available only this turn is icing on the cake.

tally time.

  • [X]Plan: Engineers deserve some time off
-[X] Landing Pad – With your infrastructure much more established, Sasaki believes this is becoming a more viable and pressing option. The creation of dedicated landing facilities for vertical landing vehicles is something to consider, especially considering that the Gagarin makes a lot of trips between here and Unity Station. Creating a dedicated landing pad would perhaps enable more resources to come in.
--[X]BONUS: WELL-PLANNED WALLS – You may lower the duration of One Defense Force Construction Action by 1 this turn. Applies only once.
[X] Honest Johnathan's Configurable Cars – You are going to kill Wilde for coming up with that. But seeing as how the FRC was quite interested in the designs, and with Peters reaping all sorts of political capital for it, you think you could persuade her to try asking another service in the EUDF if they'd like to see a demonstration. Armor, aviation, vessels? You could make a sales pitch, gain more resources and also obtain your own new designs.
--[X]BONUS: WELL-RESTED - Lowers threshold of One Defense Force Action success to 3-6. Must be used this turn! Any additional Defense Force Actions taken beyond applied bonus must meet regular 5-6 threshold.
-[X] Kaiju Biotech - Okay, what is this, I don't even- – Sam is now somewhat concerned. The Kaiju sample is still inert, if somewhat altering its composition to adjust for the cold temperatures. But it's also now starting to contribute to the freezing temperatures. This is adding credence to his idea that the genetic programming is adaptable, but he never expected it to actually start mutating like this. And it's still technically dormant. Thankfully, the changes aren't so dramatic to be unrecognizable from the original sample, but it still happened.

    --[x] Apply Well-Rested Bonus here.
-[x] Wallflower - Mercury V - The Yukimura Institute has the prestige of deploying the world's first Super Robot and has been actively engaged with fighting the kaiju for almost a year now. The Super Robot's effectiveness is curtailed by a few factors: it runs on a (admittedly generous) civilian budget, it is somewhat slow to respond to hotspots, and it can only be in one place at a time. Wallflower knows additional EUDF observers would likely not be admitted, but he thinks he can dig up plenty of useful information...if he stayed out there for a few months.
-[x] Unleash the Hound – The Hound remains unfinished, a state of affairs that displeases the Duo. With your permission and enough resources to try it out, they want to take another crack at it. For now, Wilde and Duo want to go with the 'Armor Module' method.

-[x] Kaiju Biotech – I am INVINCIBLE – Well, no, not really. But the kaiju are without a doubt incredibly hard to kill. With Wallflower's input and studies, he wants to study the composition of the scale (frozen and all), catalogue its properties, and then compare them to recorded instances of kaiju attacks. He might not be able to develop kaiju scale from it, but he might be able to come up with something to help the Super Robot.
    [X]Plan BIGGER!
    -[X] Wallflower
    [X] Expansion - Motor Pool
    [X] Unleash the Hound
    [X] Kaiju Biotech – I am INVINCIBLE

I completely goofed the plan-making. Niice.
ALRIGHT THEN.
[x] Plan Checking the Competence
:/ :\ if there was a plan that didn't have the Honest Johnathan thing I'd be for it- but I suppose wider support is by no means a bad thing...

[X]Plan: Engineers deserve some time off

I'd like to see us us the biotech options to, long-term, develop hybridized materials that help our Mecha/Super Robots perform better and smoother. Not quite the "stapled together" thing we saw for Obsidian Fury in PR2. More...biochrome from the Apex Trilogy (which is honestly kind of "meh" but had some interesting concepts and ideas). A metal that can be molded like flesh/organic materials. Instead of servos we use stuff like muscles/mynomer, but meeting in the middle, perhaps greater than the sum of its parts.

Quick tally here.

As we have a fairly convincing win, I calling it here. Rolls and post to come later.

Dice Rolls!

...also, I am VERY glad Sufficient Velocity keeps auto drafts. When trying to click on the dice roll function, I clicked on another bookmark instead. >_<

Now, before I roll! Calling out for a write-in for Honest Johnathan's Configurable Cars. See following post for more.

For the record, I am more amused at how this name even came about than I really should be.

Chance for Bonus RP, Test Roll (2d6, Threshold of 4-6 (Threshold Reduced due to Well Rested))
If Successful: +2 RP, if Failure: +1 RP

...well then. Fair's fair. I have no choice but to call this a Critical Success.
+2 RP!
Interlude to Follow!
Voter Instructions to follow!

Chance for Turn Reduction: Test Roll (2d6, Threshold of 5-6)
Progress to Kaiju Biotech Theory, Discover ???, Unlocks Actions

Success!
Kaiju Sample properties Discovered! New Kaiju Biotech Actions Unlocked!

Okay, so I'm calling in for a write-in here. A brief one, but I think this will be fun.

So you scored really well when it came to shopping for prospective customers. BG Peters apparently has much more faith in your project than you expected, because she's linking you directly to an official/department she really wants backing her, or at least sees a lot of opportunity in. And she's willing to take a chance on having something be commissioned to you blind.

So! With that in mind, see the following:

1-3: Earth Union Ground Defense Forces
4-6: Earth Union Air Defense Forces
7-9: Earth Union Naval Defense Forces (including Marine assets)
10-12: ??? (very likely part of the Earth Union Intelligence Agency)

Someone roll 2d6 for me with this in mind. That will determine from what branch your customer is from.

From there, write a brief outline of what kind of Variable Configuration design you want to make for them. I am ruling that you are somewhat limited in what you can make, but the service in question will provide you with as many of those vehicles as you want to keep experimenting.

Keep in mind that you've made just about two: the Jackal and the Hound framework. Wilde and Henry are confident that they can make anything up to a fighter jet or tank configure, but not something truly ridiculous like a missile cruiser or a dropship.

I will incorporate this write-in after I post the results page, so you all have some time to discuss or agree on it. As you all have developed an enormous amount of credibility with Peters, she's willing to give you as much time for this one as you need. Just follow through with it.

Enjoy all! Ask if you have questions!

First, the rolls!
AIRFORCE CANIDATE HERE WE GOOOOO!
Zaealix threw 2 6-faced dice. Reason: 2 Total: 6
5 5 1 1

Alrighty! Who's the lucky investor?

EDIT: Ninja'd. But I don't mind, we get to make a transforming jet!

EDIT2: Assuming we make a vote for it. As per the QM's instructions.

V-33 Transforming Multipurpose Unit (unofficially TMU, pronounced Tea-Moo)

This combination jet-helicopter is capable of transforming between the two modes even during flight. This allows it to take off and land in very small spaces, then transform into jet mode for rapid, long distance travel. The majority of the frame is modular, and can accept mission modules that range from close air support to supply transport to sky-ambulance.
