Alright, give me just a sec, let me get my Big Kid Shoes on.

How fast is "Fast" and how cheap is "Quickly Produced" in this context?

With the clock ticking and the day to liberate Voxx Primus and Secundus coming ever closer, minds begin to glacially turn toward the beyond-monumental task of shifting untold billions from the overcrowded hellscape that dared call itself an inhabited planet.

For that purpose, the Federation's planners and thinkers believe that three types of ships are required, each subdivided further based on each think tank's focus or priority.

The first type are ships capable of Rendering Immediate Aid to the population of Voxx Primus to stem the unfathomable tide of casualties that will result in even the miraculous scenario that every defender will lay down their arms. These ships should be quickly produced, be quick flyers, and be able to ferry supplies from orbit to the surface.

The second type are ships capable of Shifting Large Populations away from Voxx Primus towards prepared colonies, stations, or refugee housing within the Federation proper. They should be capable of loading large amounts of frightened, uncertain, sick, and angry people, able to withstand continuous riots from within and be able to enforce order once the refugees/shifted populations are disgorged on their new home planet/station.

The third type are ships able to Ferry Large Amounts Of Supplies, be they food, medicine, or materials, to Voxx Primus and Secundus to bolster local efforts and become a stop-gap measure to the very likely mass-rout of Duchy freighters toward safer harbors. Should the 'Trusty Delivery,' 'On-Time Hallowed Foods,' and 'Bulk Discounts Need Not Apply' not be brought over to our side, these ships must be capable of feeding hundreds of billions. Any that falls below that number will starve in short order.

You have 24 DP. Light Freighters cost 4 DP, Heavy Freighters 8 DP
(6-Hour Moratorium)
[] (Write-In Designs)

Can we design a Weaponless Navigator Destroyer or whatnot, or would that just be a Light Freighter? I'm thinking along the lines of the SS Rustbucket, just the minimum shit needed to have the jump speed/etc.

I've got an outline coming together though.

[] [Light Freighter] Auriga-class Emergency Response Freighter
-[] Length
- 7.000 Meters
-[] Width - 1.400 Meters
-[] Acceleration - 2 Gravities (-2 DP)
-[] Armor - Thin Single Hull (+1 DP)
-[] Shields - Singular Emitter (+1 DP)
-[] Weapons - Unarmed (Requires escort!)
-[] Equipment - Superior Gravimetric Engine Calculations/Chapels to the Five/Medical Deployment Division/Orders of the Guiding Hands/Large Mobile Civilian Manufactory/Propaganda Center (-25 DP)

GENERAL OUTLOOK: Something we can roll in to a system suffering a disaster very quickly with an attached Choir, carrying medicial aid, humanitarian relief, and the ability to manufacture necessary emergency supplies while keeping the populace as reasonable calm as possible. Can also supplement freighters by providing an absolute ocean of lifters beyond their normal capacity, allowing them to load and unload with much greater speed.

Is this a good design in the sense that it would actively improve any system's disaster response just by being present there, and synergize well with our more bulk-hauling freighters, @HeroCooky ? Committing basically four hangar equiviliants purely towards bulk lifting should make this helpful to just about any emergency response, even putting aside the professionals on board. And with 5 gs of acceleration, it can be the first on scene in the case of a crisis and stabilize things for the heavy metal to come with the Goods.

I may also suggest this one

Improved Internal Security Systems

Mostly because this seems pretty useful for anti-rioting...by killing the rioters mostly

@HeroCooky if we upgrade all melodies of A Spark of Genius does it go to +0.1 Research per Action Spent?
You need to do do to find out.

You can, I just added the cost for the Freighters to remind people.

That is for you and the thread to decide. I am only going to say that you should triple or quadruple internal security systems for the pop shifter ships.

Huh, so a Light Freighter with maximum Acceleration then? I can do that. Is using Medium Hangars for bulk lifting something I can do?

Okay, also, some Quick Maths for SRGs!

For three actions, an SBG gets you 72 FP in Heavy Cruisers, 48 FP of Light Cruisers, 64 FP of Carriers (Light Cruisers), 32 FP of Frigates, and 8 FP of Destroyers.

That's a total FP of 224. Divide it by 3 and you get... 75 FP per action.

So for instance if you had a fleet with two Heavy Freighters, 4 Light Freighters, 1 "Andromeda/Rustbucket" Destroyer, and some Escorts of some kind to round it out (that we'll count out for the moment).

That'd be a total of 64 FP (plus the Escorts).

So I think our SRGs if we design them like that would take one action per each SRG at the efficiency rate of our other stuff. Obviously if we shift it around, the calculus changes or so on.

Since we need the Internal Security, I think it'd make sense for the "Transport People" one to have only two of the Mega People Transport Modules, since at least for the short-term we're going to be doing a lot more 'providing food' than we are 'transporting people.' After all, some of our key Terraforming tragets will have the better part of a century to cook by the time we need to figure out how to feed them.

Auriga's been redesigned. It'll either be 2 points overbudget or exactly on budget depending on some things Cooky needs to clear up (They said it was a 7 point project for the Large Shuttle Bay, but it's listed as 8, and I want to know if it'd qualify for our Doctrine bonus too) But it'll be able to provide key humanitarian coordination efforts while being extremely fast (For a freighter), and being able to massively supplement bulk haulers to boot thanks to having an arsenal of shuttles to distribute among a relief fleet.

I think we need at least one heavy hauler moving refugees:
[] [Heavy Freighter] Class Name
-[] Length - 10.000 Meters
-[] Width - 3.000 Meters
-[] Acceleration - 0.6 Gravities -2 DP
-[] Armor - Thick Single Hull
-[] Shields - Three Emitters
-[] Weapons - (Write-In, Example: Type/Mounting. Notice: Heavy Freighters can only mount up to Three [3] weapons of all types.)
-[] Equipment - (Write-In, Example: #1, #2, #3.)
--[] Titanic Civilian Transportation Hold - Enough space and Life Support Systems to transport one-hundred million souls through the Warp. Neither comfortable nor luxurious, but better than dying. Includes many shuttle bays and oversized transportation craft with their own loading facilities to facilitate smooth emergency evacuations.(15) x2
--[] Internal Security Systems - Turrets, Gun-Servitors, crew training, and armored bunkers at strategic locations will make a boarder's life hell.(1)
--[] Emergency Relief Cargo Holds - Holds everything a small population experiencing a natural or artificial disaster may need to survive.(4)
--[] Orders of the Guiding Hands - "We can help these misguided souls. Thus, we shall." This is the guiding motto of a large, if not remarkably cohesive, collection of Faith Orders seeking to aid, preach to, and protect the populations of recently liberated or conquered worlds. How can we deny the requests of the faithful to extend a guiding hand if we seek a better Age?(5)
--[] Medical Deployment Division - Sometimes, a ship should not bring war. Sometimes, a healing hand must be given freely. And with the ability to deploy medical care to entire planets, even if only the most critical locations, that helping hand shall be extended. Always.(5)

And a second one that is going to move food:
[] [Heavy Freighter] Class Name
-[] Length - 10.000 Meters
-[] Width - 3.000 Meters
-[] Acceleration - 0.6 Gravities -2 DP
-[] Armor - Thick Single Hull
-[] Shields - Three Emitters
-[] Weapons - (Write-In, Example: Type/Mounting. Notice: Heavy Freighters can only mount up to Three [3] weapons of all types.)
-[] Equipment - (Write-In, Example: #1, #2, #3.)
--[] 3x Titanic Emergency Relief Cargo Holds - Holds everything a population of a billion experiencing a natural or artificial disaster may need to survive. For a short time. A month, at most.

They both go 2 DP over budget but that should be fine for heavy Freighter's

That leaves 8 for two more Light Freighters:
One carrying supplies, a few refugees and a Civilian Manufactory(the bulk of the fleets) and a FTL command freighter
The first can hold 2 DP more worth of DP

[] [Light Freighter] Class Name(23/ 25 DP)

-[] Length - 7.000 Meters
-[] Width - 1.400 Meters
-[] Acceleration - 2 Gravities - 2DP
-[] Armor - Single Hull
-[] Shields - Two Emitters
-[] Weapons - (Write-In, Example: Type/Mounting. Notice: Freighters can only mount up to Two [2] weapons of all types.)
-[] Equipment - (Write-In, Example: #1, #2, #3.)
--[] Medium Civilian Transportation Hold(5)
--[] Large Emergency Relief Cargo Holds(9)
--[] Large Mobile Civilian Manufactory(5)

[] [Light Freighter] Class Name(25/ 25 DP)

-[] Length - 7.000 Meters
-[] Width - 1.400 Meters
-[] Acceleration - 2 Gravities - 2DP
-[] Armor - Single Hull
-[] Shields - Two Emitters
-[] Weapons - (Write-In, Example: Type/Mounting. Notice: Freighters can only mount up to Two [2] weapons of all types.)
-[] Equipment - (Write-In, Example: #1, #2, #3.)
--[] Ghosts Amidts The Stellar Winds(10)
--[] Orders of the Guiding Hands(5)
--[] Propaganda Center(6)
--[]Civilian Supply Generation(2)

Hm. Attempt at a Heavy Freighter, never done this before, assume it's flawed as hell-

[] [Heavy Freighter] Class Name
-[] Sketch (Purely Optional)
-[] Length
- 10.000/11.000/12.000/13.000/14.000 Meters
-[] Width - 3.000/3.500/4.000/4.500/5.000 Meters
-[] Acceleration - 0.2/0.4/0.6/0.8/1 Gravities
-[] Armor - Thick Single Hull/Thin Double Hull/Medium Double Hull/Thick Medium Double Hull/Thin Triple Hull
-[] Shields - Three Emitters/One Array/Two Arrays/Three Arrays/One Matrix
-[] Weapons - (Write-In, Example: Type/Mounting. Notice: Heavy Freighters can only mount up to Three [3] weapons of all types.)
-[] Equipment - Titanic Emergency Relief Cargo Holds, Large Shuttle Hangar, Large Mobile Civilian Manufactory, Medical Deployment Division, Orders of the Guiding Hands, Small Mobile Civilian Manufactory, Ship Shrines

The idea with this one is purely to provide relief, but...

@HeroCooky
Does the Civilian Transportation Hold include Food And Medical?
Is the Augmetic Security Department a better version of Improved Internal Security Systems?
Can a ship in a fleet provide support(medical,police/soldiers) to others in its fleet?

We have 24 DP to design with? And it sounds like we are going to need one light freighter and two heavy freighters. That means we have 4 DP free for more designs.
[Available: Destroyer (1 DP), Frigate (2 DP), Light Cruiser/Freighter (4 DP), Heavy Cruiser/Freighter (8 DP)] - [10 DP]

So we could design two destroyers and a frigate in addition? Ideas:
1. The Rustbucket. A destroyer with Hymns of the Machines for better backline transport.
2. A stealth boarding-focused destroyer/frigate specifically built to enable us to capture the three mega-freighters before they skeddaddle. May also allow us to do stealthy insertions into the defense platforms.
3. A logistics destroyer/frigate for extending the reach of our ships?

Should the 'Trusty Delivery,' 'On-Time Hallowed Foods,' and 'Bulk Discounts Need Not Apply' not be brought over to our side
Feels like this is worth a write-in.

Scratch the Shuttle Bays, I forgot that the Civilian Holds had those already put inside them. And no Doctrine Bonus/Malus.

It specifies "Life Support Systems" in the fluff section.
Yes, very much so.
They can share, but the less points of failure there are, the less failures will happen.

Got it, thanks!

Frees up some points at least.

EDIT: Auriga should now be feature complete. As a Light Freighter, it's as fast as they can get. It's lightly armored and unarmed, but it's able to pull 2 Gs and is a dedicated humanitarian support ship, a group of these can likely significantly increase the wiggle room for mass cargo haulers.

Reading this was literally me going:
"Oh, this will be fun!"
*Thule enters scene*
*Implication of what the prompt actually asks hits.*
"...Oh. Oh No."
Haha, yeahhhh. I think the challenge of how to write it well sucked me in a bit.

But hey, not everything is perfect. The Thules are a little creepy, but that's just a thing a functioning society can deal with. In this case by channeling attention-seeking Yeeni towards them.

Ohhhh, yah makes sense as a large chunk of the population is not going to like us and not buying what we are selling. And given how Voxx Primus is we are going to be forcibly resettling them. Damn if the requirements sound like they would also apply to a slave ship of the Dark Eldar.

Ah, right. I think we should do a focused write in on trying to sneak agents board them to try to take them over, might as well give it a shot to see if we can. getting those three would help us, if nothing else then deprive the Dutchy the ability to use them.

The door cracked open a bit, and Nightsky looked over to see a young woman's face glance around the bar before locking onto him with manic intensity. A grin slowly spread across her face, and she pushed the door wide open and stepped inside. "Why hello there." She glanced over her shoulder, down the station hallway outside and called out with a note of glee. "Oh giiirls. Guess what I found?"
Oh no! a bunch of Thules just found fresh meat that doesn't know their tricks! oh and is also the only bartender for the bar. and I swear that Thule's grin and tone. Good Luck NightSky.

Each Thule seemed to want to talk and coo over him, often laying gentle hands on his wrist as he served their liquor.

They asked after him, his habits, his home, seeming more delighted by every answer. They loved that his name was "Nightsky" and made jokes about a fighter hundreds of years out of date. Often those jokes ended by complimenting his youth and the softness of his fur.
oh god, the hints and subtle gestures. He'll start figuring it out by the next two or three visits. and love the reference to the old fighter.

Youth and softness of the fur, I think NightSky's only defense is just not getting it and able to walk away due to all the other Thules.

She sighed, taking a moment before answering. "We're a hard breed, the Thules. We fly hard, we fight hard. And we party hard. But we like soft things, to remind us that we're fighting for something worthwhile. So that when we're alone in the harsh void we can remember that there's more than hardness out there. That something soft is waiting for us." She gestured towards him, careful not to touch. "That's how they see you. Silky, adorable. Something to be treasured in the gaps between the blackness."
....I'm getting flashbacks to other series and quests and dear god the Thules are a dead ringer, even the whole being clones made for war type of thing as well. Except here the Thules are less on drugs and warcimes and more on soft things.... that can include Yeeni. It is a good thing to drill into the Thules to remember why you fight and for what and not lose yourself to tunnel vision or th elike.

Sad to say, this is not the Cool Nightsky wants. The entirety of what she said says the Thules view him as 'cute'. but with his background he is not picking up on the complient as romantic desire in him but as in the same vein as his mother.

"It's unfair to you, I know. We placed this burden on you without asking. I'm sorry. But -" She paused again, seemingly uncertain about the next words. "That bar is a spacer bar. This will happen again. The other deck is going to hear about a young Yeeni with starry fur." She stopped and swallowed, turning to face him. "and again with the next ship that docks. I'm sorry, but if you don't like this, then you should think about getting a different job."
Yahhhhh, that's how it tends to go for bartenders. Listening in to drunks or that one fucker who refuses to leave or keeps drinking but sometimes people just need to ear that will listen to them.

"I won't tell you to breathe the void, that's sure and certain! But if you're ready, we should go back. My girls would never forgive me if I kept you to myself." Her expression softened and she met his eyes. "Only if you're ready."

He nodded. "I am." And he strode back to his bar, and the patrons who had come to visit him. Whistling.
OH NO, you FOOL! You know not what you just agreed to! And the Whistling isn't what you think!

My first try at a ship its designed to Ferry Large Amounts Of Supplies around.
