the gravity T rex probably has lots of blood, and unlike the arcticuno knockoff it's probably easier to hunt it in winter.

True. The Void Eagle is likely to try and eat our children, though, while the T-Rex seems more easily fended off. Plus there's vengeance for Kare. So it's my preferred target for 'get a big hunting party together and murder it'.

Well, now that Day 1 is just about done, how would you say it went?

From my perspective, it was very chaotic. However, I still had lots of fun when I wasn't rushing to and fro. Keeping everything straight in my head was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be.

I imagine that, as things settle down in-world, it'll also settle down here too.

I think I deserve some ice-cream for a job well done
Yeah. It was great, though it's so fast that there could easily be entire turns where I effectively can't participate for much of the day. I had a lot of free time during a 5-6 hour block to follow the quest for RP purposes, but that wouldn't always be true. I do think we need to make some allowances for that possibility; people will have real life reasons they just can't invest the time to be heavily checked in on a particular day, and it's going to fuck up gameplay if that means they just die due to stupidly not maintaining their lives.

Given that it was you and @Ryumancer who got it, the reward goes to you two

+1 Ordstirr to the both of you, and you both get to pick a free upgrade (that the Shapecrafter could reasonably give you)

So, to reiterate the question would he accept dead animals?

This is a fair point. We probably want some sort of default thing people do if they're absent for the day (in the long term, probably they farm...short term I dunno, help build maybe?).

Clarification: the Shapecrafter can give you a LOT of things. Like just about any plausible result of modest human shapeshifting and bioenhancement, and some stuff that isn't just bioenhancement like "berserk" and, uh, I think that's the way normal Norsemen get 'holds' that act like hyperspace inventory maybe?

Fasts are what you're thinking of.

And you can get those on your own (most experienced Norsemen have a bit of shapeshifting, and those count), but a shapecrafter can certainly get you more of them. So, like 'Lots of Fasts' 'Berserk' and 'Really Quick' or 'Really Tough' or 'Really Strong' are all pretty valid options.

I think it went well.

A more thorough informational going into basic descriptions and limitations of known esoterics would have been useful for someone who had never read any of this setting before, but it all worked out.

Lots of fun in the end.

Regarding the NPC Quests that opened up, do Undead tend to occur at places of significant spiritual power? And is that something my character can smell?

This is already a thing, for the record;
If anyone does not take an action, they are assumed to be working the fields and gathering resources.

Make Amlóði really tough please
The shapecrafter squints, not entirely understanding how you want him to improve your feeble fleshy form. Would you like your skin thicker, bones bulkier, muscles like iron? Something else entirely?

Clan Kaunautyr and Harald Logarson uproot the Mouth-Tree (Aabcehmu)

Clan Kaunautyr and Harald Logarson uproot the Mouth-Tree

A crude depiction of the event as witnessed by Agmundr Idskapadr. Charcoal on bleached bark, circa whenever the fuck this happened.

Nice! That's, more or less, exactly how I pictured the Mouth-Tree in my head. Though, for future rune-writing, the Norse never wrote the same rune twice in a row iirc

+9 Ordstirr
I will remember that for future bark-drawings!

Relatedly, can I ask what the requirements for converting ordstirr into PTs are? Does it require a spending a season training? Also, is there any benefit to having unconverted ordstirr?

Ordstirr and unspent PTs are, effectively, the same thing. They can both be stolen off of you by others/lost through shameful acts. It is assumed that you spent 'off-screen' time training.

I'll say that you can only spend PTs after you've done your action for the season

Fair enough. Best to be rid of them as soon as possible then, I suppose! I'd like to convert all of my ordstirr at the soonest opportunity, and to spend my PTs on Sketching 1, Multiweapon Fighting Style 1, and Swordsmanship 2.

Hoping to get involved in this. But uncertain about how well I will actually do with roleplay. And I need to finish reading the discussion. Don't know if my character's father should be the surviving shapecrafter or not.

Unnur Clean or Unnur the Unpleasant is a plain faced unmarried woman in her mid twenties. As the daughter of a shapecrafter Unnur had a difficult childhood which left her with few friends and a crooked nose. Before the fall of Gotland she had resolved herself to taking care of her father alone. The new world worries her.
1 PT: Lye Kunna. While Unnur is familiar with some of the nastier combat uses she is not very well practiced with them.
1 PT: Either the potential to be a good shapecrafter or some sort of exaggerated malleability/flexibility thing.

You don't quite have the Ordstirr + PT for that. The second level of a thing costs 2.
9 Ordstirr converts to 3 PT, which combined with my one spare PT from character creation leaves me with 4 PT. Sketching 1 costs 1 PT, Multiweapon Fighting Style 1 costs 1 (probably? Up to IF if making a new fighting style from scratch costs more), and Swordsmanship 2 costs 2 PT, which sums to 4.

Oh crap, my bad. Missed that you already had Swordsmanship.

On phone now und til at least next Monday and with most likely not much time...

Things I'd like to do:
- fill the trenches with water
-- expand the trenchworks into a triangle shaped river that protectsthe settlement from the jungle
- build at least one stone building as a safehouse (highest priority)
- help with farming, specifically irrigation (high priority)
