So am I ok to carry on with what I had planned before the skeleton invasion?

i'd like to lay claim to the free chunk of hills, three north and one west of camp. please let me know if there's an issue with that
Well done, very Norse
Harald Logarson, bloody from the battle, with more wounds than intact clothing, speaks up.
"I would claim that land.
It is my intent for me and my sons to hold it in trust for the Fallen:
That a mound may be raised to host Runestones imortalizing those who met their Fated Day for our sake as well as the greatest deeds of those still living to foreshadow and await the same.
That the greater part of it's produce shall serve the families of the fallen or the general good of the Exiles of Gotland.
That all who's kin or comrades who's Deed or Death be remembered here shall be able to visit in peace so long as they arrange such with us in a reasonable timeframe, less they be Outlaws, Nidingr, or associates of the same; regardless of whether they be the enemy or friend of mine or my clan.
That I and my sons shall take as our payment for the maintanace of this memorial and tending to these lands a lot for a home on it.
Should any man fail to keep this promise, know that he is neither a son of mine or a grandson of Thousand Akre Logar, no matter what he may call himself.
Anja, called Giantbone, know that I have heard you spoken of well, and consider you a drengr and a worthy comrade, but I will not be swayed in this.
Should you wish to come to terms, I would be ammenable to buying out your claim with a single Winter's service from me, or with a one year loan of one of the Shapecrafter's mushroom men also begining this Winter, or if you would take me as your husband.
If you have a counteroffer, proceed with it. Failing that, I will see you and yours at the Thing. "
I will claim the last land unclaimed land so I may build a workshop and infrastructure for the village.
Well. This is definitely a conflict...perhaps we can settle this easily, with Anja taking another claim, I believe there's one...
Oh. Well, that makes things trickier, doesn't it? Claim recorded.
Anja thinks for a time.If you have a counteroffer, proceed with it. Failing that, I will see you and yours at the Thing. "
He was not, he was saying that there might be another plot of land that he can take if he wants to avoid conflict...until he noticed that you already called it your own.
Anja thinks for a time.
"Harald" Anja's rumbles
"i have no doubt of your worth, as both a farmer and a warrior.
i have no doubt about the worth of your intentions, nor the honour of your word.
i know that to lay claim to two disparate plots is poor state and that you will be unable to work two separated by leagues and more.
in truth it would please me greatly to see this land used to feed those who have none to feed and shelter them.
but, i also know it is hardly just for you to take a second portion, before others have taken their first.
so i raise a compromise. i will hold the land for two seasons. i'll clear it, build upon it and ensure its ready for planting.
if at the end of those two seasons you can replace my plot other lands taken further from the settlement i will make that trade as friends.
if not, we can stand as neighbours and build the stones and fields you intend on the borders of our two lands." She subsides, seemly tired from most words anyone has heard her speak since you arrived
From my limited understanding-- which actually makes sense given Amerion is self-taught when it comes to Warding and somehow still alive-- you make a ritual circle and call on spirits from the Ginnungagap. Once the spirit arrives within the ritual circle, then you desperately hope your protections work and the spirit doesn't just steal your body or smite you, and then you hash out a contract with the spirit-- where you would (typically) given up something like some sort of sensation, in return for the spirit's power. More things you give up = more of the spirit's power they gave you, however, you also gotta remember that said spirits will be actively trying to worm their way into your head because they want to stay as long as possible. They want to be useful (to you) so that they can remain within the 'real world' and experience sensations, because once they get sent back to the Ginnungagap, they lose the memory of what if feels like, but keep the rest of the memories and crave more. Now, depending on the age of the spirit (older = dangerous/more powerful/more manipulative)... some things that work for other spirits may not work for them-- given that they'd be the ones with a better bargaining position due to having more power at their disposal, and would likely able to smite you where you stand, protections or not.If I understand warding correctly, it is locking spirits into artifacts to be used in a variety of ways. I imagine this can be done diplomatically(convincing the spirit)or violently(beating the spirit)?
Also well done, very Norsely

Anja shakes your hand, gives a nod and gestures to a spot by the wall of the main hall."These terms are acceptable unchanged, I am glad to gain full certainty that my assessment of your character was true."
Harald offers a hand to shake, and then goes off to bleed.
Yes, but I have also seen in quest that some have managed to contract spirits without giving anything up. Also from the original quest, I think I do remember that some managed to force spirits to work for them as well. From my limited understanding-- which actually makes sense given Amerion is self-taught when it comes to Warding and somehow still alive-- you make a ritual circle and call on spirits from the Ginnungagap. "rest. i'll send a wet cloth when your wounds bind"
I think that's just a separate form of Seidr magic, one that doesn't involve spirits in its use. Not all forms of Seidr need a Spirit, as seen when it's used to resurrect the dead, or create healing concoctions, or even with the Onigar Potions.Yes, but I have also seen in quest that some have managed to contract spirits without giving anything up. Also from the original quest, I think I do remember that some managed to force spirits to work for them as well.
One of the things that was recommended I try to make was self-repairing clothes, without really mentioning spirits at all.
"And for Hulfr, I declare this as the finest shield I've ever gone into the field with, my lack of experience raiding ignored of course it served me well on the field and would do any warrior the same."
Other way around actually. Because Smárgneist immediately got summoned like the second Smárgneist manifested, Smárgneist didn't spend much time (if any) in the Ginnungagap (thats where you wouldn't experience sensations/have sensor deprivation, but so long as the spirit has a contract-- they aren't inside the Ginnungagap necessarily, they have a bit of a doorway into the physical realm where they can experience sensations). There were a few questions about sensations when first summoned, but no. Because Smárgneist is now in the physical plane of existence (kind of), Smárgneist is experiencing sensations, not losing them. The contract made with Smárgneist is... not one you'd want to make with any other spirit that isn't completely brand new however.Doesn't the fire spirit being newly summoned mean that when it's summoned it'll experience sensory deprivation for the first time?
If I may ask, did Bjorn's Giga Dino Rampage or Moli's Disco Raven get extra Ordstirr? 😄
