Check, so we're down to 5 Goliaths, and about 170-ish of the bone soldiers, many of whom are not particularly well organizzed, and our only casualties were from an unexpected third party, but we have weathered them. Good work everyone.

We'll need to work out what our tactical plan should be at this point, but first let's reinforce Group #4. I'm gonna suggest that Amlóði Tooth-taker, Erik Olsen, Hrósvior Stigandsson, and Gudrun ???dottir join Group #4 at the seawall. We still have cavalry coming. In particular, Amlóði use your Muck Kunna to slow their charge and rob it of its momentum.

That would leave the assignments at this:

Group #1 (Mostly Ranged Offense, Main Wall): [Skuli Draugrhater][Ragnarr Fair-Spoken][Sigmund Sigurdson][Brynjar Bonespear][Alyssa Worldwalker][Agmundr Idskapadr]
Group #2 (Defense, Main Wall): [Erik Hardhead][Akali Nightsong][Rikard Villeson][Njal Ulfson][Torgarr Villagefeeder][Harald Logarson][Gefjosa Aslaugsdottir]
Group #3: (Ranged and Other Offense, Corner) [Fernweh Engenweiss][Eirny Khairesdottir][Gunnar Toad-Terror][Liv Sweetwater][Grid Frostdottir][Valo Halvarson]
Group #4: (Defense, Sea-Facing Wall)[Dyri Seaborne][Bjorn Bjornsson][Erik Olsen][Amlóði Hårekson][Hrósvior Stigandsson][Gudrun ???dottir]
Group #5: (Ranged Specialists, Relay Killing Team)[Oddr Gunnwaldson][Kare Sky-Dancer][Moli Spotlight][Bjorn Drakeslayer][Steinarr Stonelicker][Amerion Wardson]

Relief: [Hulfr][Ingrunn][Krakr Gudrunson][Arnleif Whistler][Vatn Galtison]

Reserves: [Ake Silverleaf][Agnes Olsen][Lindjorn Torbholm][Runa Venomtongue][Ingegärd Svæindottir][Katla Hrafndottir][Unnur Clean]

Casualties: [Bjorn Bjarneson][Ivor Name-Giver][Anja Giantbone][Njall Redaxe]

If anyone objects to that, speak up. If not, we can then move on to our other plans.

Should we push forward and try to take down as many skeletons until the border.

I actually lean towards now being the time to send a team Necromancer Hunting. It'd be a combo of existing teams, but that might well be worth it.

Well. Either they've legitimately decided we're too troublesome to deal with, or they're trying to bait us into leaving the walls and pursuing them, opening up an opportunity for the sea draugr thing to hit us more.

I'm inclined to guess it's the former, but it's still very odd that they commit something capable of collapsing one of our fronts and then immediately retreat afterwards...

Actually, fuck it.

Seemingly discouraged by the losses of their friends, the Skeleton Army stops its advance and makes a relatively organized retreat!

What might this mean for the future of the Skeleton War?

(You'll have the rest of the day to decide what to do)

What's Frenzy got to say on the possibility of the retreat being a trap?

Gunnar is screaming curses at the retreating skeletons, he didn't even get to hit anything! He's eager to charge in, but failing that, is very happy with the idea of finding this Necromancer, and beating their face into a puddle.

Stand of the Sea Guard (Kreenwarrior)
Stand of the Sea Guard

The sea guard was prepared for cavalry, but we received a very different surprise. From the depths arose Galti, our fallen friend, but friend no longer. Instead, he was a draugr, with eyes of flame, bearing rope-axe and seax. Since a draugr can have almost any powerset or strength, we had no idea what to expect. We placed our shapeshifts into durability and speed and conferred in a plan of attack. Unfortunately, it went to pieces very quickly.

Ivor tried entangling Galti with needle-headed ropes he'd prepared for the cavalry, but Galti was too fast and avoided both it and the rune-log thrown by Anja by virtue of summoning the house sized knife-headed shark-serpent that killed him and using it to create shadows on the battlefield as it soared overhead, then teleporting through those shadows. It broke Ivor and Dyri's shields in single blows, entangled Ivor with its own conjured ropes, then stabbed Bjorn through the gut and threw him under the shark as it came down. Anja tried grappling it; it was able to (barely) move her and block Njal's atgeir with her body. Ivor tried to throw needles through it's glowing eyes, but instead ate a curse of misfortune for meeting its gaze.

Round two was desperate. So far, it had been fast enough that it was able to easily outmatch us in melee even outnumbered, break our strongest grappler's grapple, and also had, and I can't emphasize this enough, a house sized knife-shark.

Anja used an aspect to heal. Njal threw himself at the thing's legs to grapple it. Ivor burnt an aspect to charge it using Ember-Winged Cloak, the same move he used in his spar with Kare, and charged it while becoming a flaming spike ball. It worked, but at great cost- Draugr Gatli used it's rope-powers to yank Anja, Njal, and Ivor together as they all burnt together in a pyre. Meanwhile, Dyri was able to strike the shark-serpent down with an aspect-powered attack.

Bjorn, thankfully, wasn't actually dead underneath the monster, and emerged alive. He and Dyri were the survivors.

I, too, would be pleased to run down the skeletal army, and from there, seek out the necromancer. Mine Fieldcraft and Archery alike should be helpful!

Edit: Once again, I am reminded I cannot fly. Alas!

You may, pick your targets and make the rolls
Going to use a fast (Fire Kunna 1 stored during Draugr Prep Stage) and Fire Kunna 1, in addition to Smárgneisti's aid, to fire a concentrated lance of fire at the topish of the centre of mass of Goliath 3 as they run away.

EDIT: Should I do two rolls cause fast+attack, or just the one roll?

quick reminder before everyone and their mother joins the Strike Team, the plan is to have the fliers go in with at least one person with Seeing Eyes, and we can't carry all of you, so if you're groundbound, just stay home so we don't get ambushed by the Skeleton Cavalry as we leave to kill the Necromancer.

Harald supports leaving a skeleton(lol) force to man the defense in the north, keeping the southern defenses strong, and sending the planned strike team to the necromancer, and also sending a compact and mobile force to Harry the armies flanks as it runs, avoiding getting stuck in if they can.

To put the Necromancer Hunt planning in a new post, my thoughts on the team for that are Rikard Villeson (for Seeing Eyes and general badassness), along with some of our better flyers, who will likely need to carry people, so Kare Sky-Hunt and Gunnar Toad-Terror. Eirny would probably want to stay with Gunnar...we could also send Grid but that leaves Team #3 very light, but that can be adjusted. Throw in Krakr Gudrunson for a backup Seeing Eyes person and some seidr expertise...yeah, something like that. Ah, and Dyri swore an oath. Him as well.

So my preferred team would be as follows:

Rikard Villeson
Kare Sky-Dancer
Gunnar Toad-Terror
Eirny Khairesdottir
Grid Frostdottir
Krakr Gudrunson
Dyri Seadancer

I'd then reassign people to firm up Group #3.

Yeah something to harry the skeleton army would be good. We don't know how the connection between the necromancer and the army works but damage to his minions may distract him. That could help those who are going on the strike mission.

since my last javelin volley failed, Gunnar will toss some at the retreating skeletons of group H, aiming for their relay skeleton primarily, before joining the hunting team.
