Horra, as a shapecrafter, wins empty-hand melee. Now, he's no combatant so stabbing him with a sword or surprising him results in his death.

Horra found ancient Egyptian jars that grew body parts, which is what he used to create the Threaded Men.
Huh yeah, that does explain how Horra managed to get the literal HOW amount of parts needed for the Threaded Elephant, as well as why his Threaded creations had so many arms when you would expect most corpses to have roughly an equal amount of arms and legs. It also helps explain how Horra managed to create the elephant in just ~4 years, as he didn't need to spend time to actually get all those corpses.

... Not gona lie, I am a little bit disappointed in Horra that he found a cheat option like that. I know this is a Xianxia setting and that to do things "fairly" means handicapping yourself, but my mind had already built Horra up as an absolute madlad who somehow dug up several tons worth of arms without anyone noticing, and now knowing that he just had an imported meat farm kinda takes the sheen off a bit.

Stupid Horra. Can't even trust him with my admiration. -.-

Do the Jotunns drink it? If the Giants don't.

I think you mean Giants. Since it was the Jotun that were originally said to brew the thing in the first place. Although I don't see them being able to drink it either, since eitr seems to kill literally everything... even things that produce eitr themselves, like Jormungandr.

But:
He found a nid free, renewable way of passively gaining corpses.
Depending on the exact societal view of necromancy that means "Dreng Necromancer" is a valid option for our offspring.
Or Shapecrafter of too-many-limbs.
Think a bersekr is bad? Imagine a berserkr with 8 arm. Octoserker, hitting like the hooves of sleipnir!
Outlaws may also make a nidless way of gaining parts. Or base Draugr to be embellished with extra body parts.

@Imperial Fister this is a bit of a non-sequitur but could we, assuming we return from this alive, let Haleikr's widow know that if she ever needs help she can call on us without spending an action on it? Because, like, he came with us for his own reasons, but it still feels like we'd answer if she ever called on us for help and she should know that.

...How about we don't do that?

The narrative space available in this story is not unlimited.

Neither is our time.

It's literally the Headman's job to take care of her, so I doubt much will come of it any time soon, and note that I said 'if we can do so without spending an action'. I don't think adding that to long term future possibilities takes up all that much narrative space, frankly. Our short term is very crowded...our long term is not.

It feels more like an added punishment on top of Haleikr dying, even though we barely knew him.

Taking care of the family of someone who helped us isn't a punishment. If she demands something unreasonable we can just tell her 'no'.

Her most likely requests would be somewhere to stay (where we could easily oblige her in the very near future if she helped out with our kids as well as her own, and would likely benefit from doing so...honestly, if she wants to come join our farm once we rebuild we'd verge on ecstatic, more women around the place would be very good), money (which we could afford a reasonable amount of), or taking her son along on a raid or something and looking out for him once he comes of age (which we could do).

Hey Halla,

Do you sort of feel yourself acting differently now that you've got the Skyfire Kenning?

Hey Blackhand,

In the course of your journey, have you ever once heard of anyone having the same Kenning as another person, alive or dead?

Unless I'm mistaken, the Norns were Giants?
The Nornir are something else entirely
(@Imperial Fister)
Hey Blackhand, taking Eitr was a weird random idea, but what about water from the sunlight river?
'Better, but still, the Elivagar are nothing to trifle with. I can't imagine anything truly bad happening with the waters of the Leiptr, but it might be best to play it better safe than sorry.'
So I guess my question is, how is Flekkr currently doing @Imperial Fister? Does he have puppies? Has he found any especially rare and interesting sticks for Steinarr to inspect?
Flekkr is doing good boy things like digging holes and then filling said holes. He has found the swishiest of sticks and has, in fact, gotten stuck while trying to get it through the doorway.

He has puppies, yes.

(I struggle with including him, unfortunately, so he doesn't show up as often as he should. I'll do something with his puppies and your children, though. Actually... Idea has been acquired)

Sure, but there's already a level of character bloat and I'd like to be a bit more careful with that going forward
Hey Halla,

Do you sort of feel yourself acting differently now that you've got the Skyfire Kenning?
You've not really had the time to sit down and examine yourself, it's only been a few days since you got it. Though... you have been yearning for the wide open lands of your father's farm a fair bit more than usual, as of late. Asvir is confining, you're not sure that you'll ever like living with all these people around you.
In the course of your journey, have you ever once heard of anyone having the same Kenning as another person, alive or dead?
'Oh absolutely, it happens all the time. Do you know how many 'the Reds' or 'the Blacks' there are?

Now, two people having the same name and kenning isn't something that happens. At least, it doesn't while they're both alive.'

0~0~0

Alright, I'm going to call voting in an hour, so vote while you can!

That's actually kind of remarkable. The Norse world is sizeable; there are presumably many many thousands of Norse.

So if you're dealing with a relatively common name like, oh, Sven, there must be something stopping there from being two Sven the Blacks at the same time. As though the kennings don't actually stick, somehow, if some other living Norseman already has it.

Or maybe it's an interference thing- there can be two Sven the Blacks on opposite sides of Denmark, but only as long as they never meet and their social circles don't overlap. If they start to overlap, someone gets pushed into a different kenning.

I hope one of our future kids has a dog fylgja so they can play with the puppies as one

Anti double post edit:
How did the Longstride kenning affect us?
There's a journal entry in our character sheet that mentions
Since you've gotten your kenning of 'Longstride', you've been a bit more... You're not really sure, really. You suppose that you're bouncier than you used to be, and just generally faster, quicker to move. You also are struggling to slow down for the slower people....

It might be a Written World thing. Name + Kenning is how the [Reader/Writers] keep track of people, so duplicating identity tags would be counterproductive.

Hm. Still tough to keep track of for that many Norsemen. I wonder if people actually feel a pressure against them giving someone a kenning that would make their name a duplicate, or against naming an infant something that will make them a duplicate name ("there is already a Sven Svenson in the Danelaw, no naming your son Sven!")

Hi guys. Feel free to use my reward dice on the sailing learning.

Leif Ericsson is quite a funny thing. You've been sitting on that for a while haven't you Imp?
