I will note Abjorn doesn't seem to see a conflict between wife and warrior. He looks to the Skirsvikingr's body and then to you. He smiles, eyes full of adoration. "Gods, you're beautiful."

Halfdan, name reminds me of the Halfdan who lead the Great Viking Army in England in the 800's. He's probably a retired raider, or perhaps a more professional thane. Or just a tough bastard lol.By the analysis of our maxed Tactics roll, they were there very specifically to kill Halfdan and thought that, even with all of them, they needed to resort to dirty tactics to do so. So the question we need to be asking is: who in all the nine worlds is Halfdan?

Ehh, currently yes.
I also wouldn't necessarily expect him to fold to public displeasure in the future, but it could become a point of ridicule (which is certainly more dangerous a concept in this setting).
"And what Halla says goes?" Stigr scoffs, shaking his head. "Boy you're whipped already. Are you sure that Halla's the woman in your-"
Abjorn scowls and a hand lashes out, stopping Stigr in his tracks. He lifts him by the back of his shirt and holds him in the air, limbs dangling wildly. Stigr's eyes widen as he passes over a bank of muddy snow.
"H-hey, man, take it easy! It was just a jo-" He's thankfully muffled by a mouthful of mud and snow. Aki snickers and just as Stigr digs himself out, a splatter of white lands on his head, curtesy of the raven. He sighs, slumping over. "Yep, that was deserved. Sorry!"
Man, he gotta be really good if the Norn want him dead so bad.
Perfect lead in for both Hallr and Steinar.Another thing to note: Reinforce. You guys got your first taste of it in this battle and I think it left something of a mark.
With the bird imagery, I'm wondering if it was the Morrigan?Man, he gotta be really good if the Norn want him dead so bad.
I hope not. She IS quite a problem to have as an enemy.
Firstly: can you rec some of those stories with a swordless MC? Unless it's gun ones, because guns are the modern swords.[X] The Sword, Wanderlust (3d6)
I don't actually see a lot of stories where swords get used, surprisingly enough. Plus, Halla's hugr specialty has me seeing her as more of a technical fighter than a brawny one, which a lighter one-handed weapon leans towards.
I mean quest wise there are plenty tbh.Firstly: can you rec some of those stories with a swordless MC? Unless it's gun ones, because guns are the modern swords.
Second: as far as I know, spears/polarms were given to the weaker/less skilled combatants, because the reach gave them more leverage, especially because they were fighting with other people armed with spears as well.
And swords took a hell of a lot more time to learn, not to mention being kept as the weapon of nobility, because the could affor the time to train with it and the money for the lump of metal.

Sure... but there's basically two ways that ridicule can hurt you (at least as far as I can see this). The first is if it hits you in a personal psychological vulnerability... and Abjorn is entirely comfortable with the nature of the woman he is with. The second is if it undermines your position in the community... and from what I've seen, "willingness to respond with violence" is a pretty solid answer to any threat of that nature, as long as you respond with the appropriate degree of violence and possible follow a few simple formalities.Ehh, currently yes.

You watch Aki go, silently wishing him a speedy passage. As he disappears into the woods, you turn to Abjorn, "I'm going to make an opening, you hit that big bastard with everything you've got."
"Everything?" He asks, arching a brow.
You pull him close, a hand on his shoulder as you look your husband-to-be dead in the eye. "I want you to split him. Head. To. Tail."
Abjorn looks as if some great truth was revealed to him. A confused smile spreads across his bearded face as he snaps to attention. "Yes, ma'am!"
The jewel taker.
Wow, I just caught up. That fight was fuckin' awesome. We got really lucky, though. Had Abjorn not been there, we definitely would've died. I imagine if Stigr was there to support us with his bow it would've been easier, but that guy was still an absolute unit.
I feel that we should start focusing on getting our Hamr and combat skills up, if only so we don't die when Halla reaches 16. Perhaps we should start investing into Pierce, since it'd be easier to level than Chop right now?
I do wonder what's up with the fated encounter shenanigans. My bet is either the Norns or The Morrigan. On the topic of The Morrigan, I think we should actually visit the witch sooner than later. I get that she doesn't have our best interests in mind, but we can only put off her request for so long. Even then... I wouldn't really want to go into her house unprotected. Perhaps we should ask the Seeress about this when we next see her?
I'm not sure if we know this in-character. But yeah, seeing what the witch wants isn't a bad idea. Not this coming turn which is gonna be busy, but maybe the next one.
Is it possible to use Reinforce-Shield Trick on our armour? Or is there a Trick like it that can be used on armour?
We actually know this one. Hallr commented that it was a good trick when we got it specifically because it can indeed be used on armour as well as shields.
