I've added the Reward Dice.

This one's, uh, this one is going to take me longer than expected.

The NornDice are laughing at me right now.

But we're not in Skane, right? We're in Agder. So Steinarr moved to Agder sometime later?
Oh, wait. I get it. Horra wasn't in or from Skane - we know he was from Agder. He actually followed the family there. We also know that he was older than the uncles that he killed. That part, at least, is certain, as Blackhand won the right to conceive them by killing his dad.

Now, one of the interesting bits is that Halla didn't know about the Seeress until Aki told her (which was after meeting the witch). That was in spite of her being the mom of his two favorite uncles. We don't know what kind of a relationship Steinarr and the Seeress have, but it at least strongly suggests that they both moved to Agder independently, seeing individual revenge on Horra in their own ways. Horra may or may not be tracking on the Seeress being after him (she's a lot more subtle than Steinarr is) but he almost certainly doesn't expect them to coordinate in any way.

I don't think the brothers Steinarr was avenging were the same one the Seeress conceived? I got the impression they lived with her, or near her, rather than following the main family. Although when I think about it, you're probably right. Weird that Steinarr never told us about the Seeress, though.

Alectai's dice pushed the roll to over 100.

The NornDice are laughing at me, acursed creatures.

Alectai out here performing miracles with reward dice. Awesome.

To be technical, he earned the right to learn seidr by killing Horra's dad. The conceiving children was recreational, not contractual. That seems a worthwhile distinction to make.

I mean, the Seeress's family is probably from around here, or Horra's dad wouldn't have met her dad to kill him. So her moving here may have nothing to do with Horra...but yeah, he doesn't seem to expect them to coordinate and their relationship may be a bit strained, depending.

No, they are. Very explicitly. He killed two of our uncles total, the Seeress's kids.

Oh, really? I thought he killed the Seeress' kids, then went after Steinarr's brothers. Huh. Wait, so she didn't live with them? Did she raise her kids, and then they went to live with the rest of the family?

By the way;

'Hey, Blackhand? Would it be possible to create a trick that temporarily strengthens/increases the quality of our weapons and armour via Forgefire?'

Hopefully this nat 100 doesn't proc a 'This could result in great rewards, but is also really dangerous' situations.

Maybe? She may well actually have been Hallr's wife and living with the rest of the family at that point. Steinarr's mother being a concubine would actually explain a lot, all things considered.

They were grown men (at least by Norse standards) when Horra killed them (since he basically stabbed them in the back immediately after a battle they'd been fighting), so the exact situation could be a lot of different things. Maybe Hallr hooked up with the Seeress but they never got married and then he married Steinarr's mom a few years later, maybe they got married then divorced and he married Steinarr's mom, maybe the concubine situation above.

There are a lot of possibilities here.

Hallr did mention he had two wives. I don't think Steinarr is old enough to be a kid from the first wife, though. The Seeress being Hallr's second wife does seem plausible, however. I got the impression she kept in touch with her children at the very least - and probably raised them, Hallr doesn't strike me as someone that would raise a kid 24/7 - given how angry she was when she spoke about their deaths. But they also seemed to be on good terms with Steinarr, given how he went on an entire quest just to avenge them.

Hallr may well have been very involved with his kids lives, Steinarr's attitude seems to indicate he was anyway, but the Seeress was clearly involved in the lives of her children as well, yes. I suspect that whatever their legal situation the two raised the kids together...it's how that fits in with Steinarr and his mother that's unclear to me.

Oh, yeah, I'm not saying Hallr was entirely absent. It's just that I got the impression he travelled quite a bit, so he wasn't the one taking care of the kids. It'd be nice if we could ask Steinarr - and perhaps also ask him about the rest of our family - when we get the chance too. Don't think that's happening any time soon, though. Got stuff to do, and all that.

'I don't believe so. It might require a metal hugareida to do something of that nature. I might also just need something to jog my memory, as it were.'

You do have one half of this equation in your head.

Could we try and follow up on this @DeadmanwalkingXI when we get Forgefire? Unless there are better trick ideas/it's useless, of course.

Huh. True!

'Hey, Blackhand? What are our uncles and aunts like? And their names?'

Note: Runes aren't always on. When active, they burn through the coloring to work. Paint lasts longest, then blood, then odr. Not super relevant most of the time, but if you were to, say, get ambushed in your home, you probably aren't going to have your weapons soaking in blood or paint.

Side-note: Crowfeeder's runes. You might want to study them some time.
ah, so the Runes are charged.... hm, makes sense.
what happens when we fill out the runes with something more... permament, than paint, blood or Orthstirr/Odr? Like, say, metals. or glue and stuff like that?
Also... i know runes need to be carved... but what if we crave the runes out of something, like gems in the shape of the rune?
The coloring is the activation trigger. Once it starts, it doesn't stop until it runs out of color.
ah, that is a simple and elegant way of solve it.... just put in the battery and it works.
...so, whats the downside? :V
aside from not working when not filled.

... i know it was for family stuff, but it was his sword, so...
"Hey Blackhand, did you notice anything different about crowfeeder?"

So, when we were fighting Sten I noticed his wind attack on us was able to flow around HV and hit us anyways. If wind can do it, water probably can too and water is always going to be a weakness of ours. We probably don't really have time for anything new before fighting Hasvir, but he's not the only water user in the world. Have we given any thought to making a full body/dome version of HV? It probably would lose its perfect status if we try to stretch it like that, but it'd be nice to have something to throw dice at to tank aoe effects.

I mean, he says Forgefire can't do it, so I'm inclined to believe him unless we get a really specific idea.

Well, they apparently require Capacity as well, so that's a price to be paid.

Sten has Puncture which is what that was, well, when it wasn't magic that didn't even do damage. Our HV can actually defend, like, 4 people so we can do a dome version...Puncture would still go right through that, though.

'Hey, Blackhand? What are our uncles and aunts like? And their names?'
'I will be frank, most are likely dead, so I shall name those that have the highest chance of still being alive.

My eldest was named Brimir, after the man who taught me the way of the sword. He was the only child that Eyvor bore me, but what a child he was. He was unstoppable, the kind of man that only time could bring down.

The next were the sisters three; Amma, Birna, and Fasta. Warrior women, much like yourself. Amma was skilled in seidr, Birna in the way of the sword, and Fasta had the quickest and sharpest tongue of all my children.

Steingrimr... I failed him more than I failed any of my children. I should have been there for him, not galivanting off in Finland. I don't know where he is now, or if he is even alive, but I suspect that we'll be seeing him again before this is over.

Then there's Saefari, another son of mine. He was the best sailor of all Gotland, second to none. Last I heard of him, he was heading to Iceland.

And last, but never least, is Tiarvi, the sole Skald amongst my children. He was an odd child, but only Fasta could match him word for word.'

"Hey Blackhand, did you notice anything different about crowfeeder?"
'I don't understand the question.'
