Yeah, it's either entirely internal and does subtle stuff, or physically there as a real thing. The latter is potentially really handy except for the whole 'we die if our fylgja dies' thing, which instead makes it still potentially handy but super dangerous.

Yeah, I can see situations where it would be useful for our fylgja to take on a corporeal form.

...However, our fylgja is on the more squishy side of things I imagine, so I don't see us doing it too often, either, since our life is tied to its life after all.

What does our fylgja even do again? As in, what do we gain from it being an owl?
We get to double any gains in Hugr capacity. Hugr capacity appears to be how many spells we can know (including both seidr and hugreida) and seems based on, unsurprisingly, our Hugr. Right now we don't actually know how to increase it, but doubling that should allow us to learn quite a lot more spells than we could otherwise in the long run.
More or less correct. Your capacity dictates how many spells you can have readied at any given time (you'll get the option to mess around with that once you know more spells), not how many spells you can know, total. Capacity is raised through raising your hugr in much the same way Endurance is raised through raising your hamr.

Okay, so how does that work and has it kicked in yet? Because I was assuming it just started at Hugr and increased from there, but if the increase has already kicked in shouldn't our current capacity be higher?

Increases all capacity gains. So instead of gaining 1 capacity per rank up, you gain 2

Sure...but shouldn't that apply retroactively so we're not punished for raising Hugr before Fylgja? It's almost always bad game design if raising exactly the same stats in a different order gets you vastly different results, especially if you had no way to know that going in.

Or would most people have only Capacity 2 right now or something like that?

Fair enough, if people agree than I'll change it.

I just had Capacity gains be doubled so it'd be in-line with Endurance, as both Endurance gains and current being doubled would, simply, be way too overpowered for right now. If it went that way, you'd have the Endurance of someone with Hamr 8. Abjorn's only at Hamr 6 right now.

And you're fighting people with, like, Hamr 3–4-ish right now.

I mean, wouldn't even that be fair compared to, say, going with a Wolf fylgja like we almost did? We'd be doing more damage than he is if we took that, after all. Or more damage than he is without specific stuff to enhance it anyway. Plus going that route, Abjorn can get his fylgja unlocked (possibly with our help) and, if it's Bear (which is, um, I'm gonna go with plausible), get to 12, which would put him back well ahead.

It just seems very wrong and deeply counterintuitive to say the least that a guy with Hamr 1 is the ideal person to take a Bear Fylgja and will, in the long run, do much better than the guy with Hamr 6 who does the same (since once they have equal Hamr, or even a bit below, the guy who started with a 1 would have a lot more Endurance). That just can't be right.

You do need to hit them first to do damage.

I could also just be making a bad call here. I am only human, after all, it happens. Which is why if you agree with Deadman, please don't hesitate to say something.

Reading the edit, you are absolutely right. Changing.

And changed

Anyways, I'm gonna do an interlude here in a bit. I'll add it in as a vote next turn, but what interludes would you like to see?

Either the witch plotting, Steinar raiding or Asva musing on the family, for my part at least.

As for the Mechanic above, you are the one working with it, so better make it easier for you, i think? And unlocking Fylgja is rare, isnt it?

After exchanging greetings and sitting down across from Aki Runson, you start to talk about your time with the Witch.

"So I followed your advice — thank you for that, by the way — and discovered the Witch an-"

"I didn't say that." Aki's unseeing eyes seem to pierce through you. A raven peers from the branches of a nearby tree.

You frown, brows furrowing in confusion. "I... What?"

"There isn't a Witch in the Hading." There's something about the way he delivers everything with that dead-pan expression, in that uniform tone, that deeply unsettles you.

"What?"

"A Seeress occasionally makes her home in the deeper parts of the forest, but there isn't a Witch."

"There's a difference?"

He pauses, clearly caught off-guard. Some hints of personality surface as he sputters and the mask slips. "Well, I... It's kind of obvious, right? Wise-women, Seeressess, would know things about plants and herbs and divination. They're helpful. Witches," he frowns, "Witches play games and eat people."

"I didn't know that." And just like that, the mask is back.

"I didn't know there was a Witch in the Hading."

"I guess we both learned something today." Aki has nothing to say to that and simply sips his milk. You decide to process the whole Witch thing later and, for now, you simply shrug and eat some of the provided food. It's not especially fantastic, but it's mutton so you like it. You're not sure why, but you suspect that Aki prepared this himself. "Did you make this?" You gesture to the blanket laid out between the two of you.

He bristles, a scowl slipping over his face. "Why?" He spits and the raven caws, "So you can ridicule me too?"

"What? Why would I do that?"

The mask slides on again. "Never mind."

You blink. "Uh, okay?"

He sighs, "Do you have a reason for being here or did I do this for nothing?"

"Are you okay?" You eye the heavy bags under his empty gaze. "You seem a little, uh, cranky."

"My fylgja," he jerks his head at the raven, "woke me up long before dawn and told that I would be meeting with someone today. I wasn't told when this would happen, so I've been sitting out here for over half the day. Just. Waiting."

You wince, rather happy that you didn't get a raven as your fylgja. "That... that really sucks."

"Tell me about it." The longer you spend with him, the more his mask slips. He's quite the sassy little boy when he's not doing his whole 'Witch-Spawn' shtick.

"Well, I managed to unlock my fylgja!" With a grin, you call your owl from the spirit realm. It flutters from behind a tree and lands beside the raven. The raven gives your owl a long, long look, but seems to deem it 'okay'. "Bet you weren't expecting an owl."

"I know you have an owl. I can see into the spirit realm."

"Cool." You... you don't have much to say to that. He really took the wind from your sails, dammit! You sigh, despite his constant sass and dead-pan expression, he's starting to grow on you. Like a poisonous moss or a tumor, but he grows on you nonetheless. "Hey, uh, Aki?"

"Yes?"

"I was wondering if you wanted to come with my friends and I when we go check out that thing that fell from the sky. Do you?" You flick a finger towards the hills in the far distance.
(Hugr (Silver-Tongue): 4, 3, 2, 4, 4, 5, 4) 6 Successes
"Sure." If you didn't know any better, you'd have sworn there was a hint of warmth in his sigh. "I've got nothing better to do." And there's the sass you've come to expect.

"Great!" You smile and clap as you leap to your feet. "We'll swing by and grab you when its time, then."

So... we didn't even find the right person? Man, the more we learn, the more this Witch seems like a Bad Idea. I'm seriously considering not meeting her again, or at the very least becoming stronger before we do so.

What Happened to Me?
-Something happened to you when you battled Osborn and kin. It was like something took over your body. When it left, it left you with two pieces of knowledge, a trick and something you're not sure of. What happened to you?
-You're pretty sure it has something to do with spirits, but how are you supposed to figure that one out? Well, you suppose that Aki did say that he could 'see into the spirit realm', maybe he can give you a lead?
Well, if you say it like that...
[X] Do anything else at Runby?
-[X] Tell Aki about what happened during "A walk on the ice" and ask him what he thinks about the "possession".

-[X] Ask him where the seeress he's talking about can be found, since we apparently ran into the wrong person.

We, uh, still need a seidr tutor if we're ever gonna learn it (and we do want to). The witch is looking like a bad call for that, so asking about the location of the person he was talking about seems relevant.

This seems like a good idea. Learning seidr is practically a must for us, but the Hading Witch is an especially poor choice of tutor, considering how she has her own agenda that doesn't seem to have our best interests in mind. If we can learn from the seeress instead, that'd be great.
