Hrmmm...

Maybe.

FATED

Remaining Characters:

Vowels: A, O
Consonants: B, K, C, R, M, H

EDIT: Probably not, no. I can't really figure out how to crowbar this into shape. But Fate could fit in there, and would release the D. We'd still have A and O as remaining Vowels then.

SON OF EDIT: Hamr can fit in as a possible word, that might be throwing us off.

So this is either 2 words with 7 letters in them each, 2 words with 4 letters and 1 with 5, or any similar comparison of it. Let me get out a dictionary...
With a ratio of 10 Consonants to 4 Vowels, we're probably trending to longer words:

4 words: Words with a 3:1 Consonant to Vowel ratio are tough to find, especially for smaller words which tend to be vowel-heavy, 4 are basically nonexistent, and we need at least 2 words of 3:1 ratio and 2 of 2:1 ratio and 0 of 1:1 ratio or worse.
2 Words: 2x 5 Consonants/2 Vowels, most likely IMO. Probably or at most 8/6. Most 5-letter words have 2 vowels (ex: DEATH, FATED, NORSE, NAMES, MAYBE..), and fighting a 9-letter words with a mere 2 vowels would be tough.
1 Word: I don't think there's any word with 14 letters, and if there was we can probably dictionary search this easily.

So my guess is, probably 2 words. 3 Words is nigh-undoable for the same reason as 4 words.

Let's see if anything's left after I take Hamr out of the table.

VOWELS: E, O, A,
CONSONANTS: D, T, B, K, C, T, F,

Only costs us 1 Vowel actually if we include that.

Just editing this in for ease of reference. I don't think we're mixing languages in this though, it makes things too messy.

So, probably two words?

'A' and 'T' shows up twice, which is notable.

Words using 'A' that have been suggested:

FATE(D)

T:

DEATH
FATED

Yeah, my guess is 2 words. 3 words would require some tough wordsmithing. As it is our anagram already has a very low Vowel : Consonant ration.

Fister said that we'd recognize the word, not that it would be in (wholly) English. So a norse word - that has shown up in-quest - plus English words would be fair game.

I was thinking HUGR, but there's no 'G'. This also rules out 'HUGAREIDA'.

hm, DTBKCETAROFMAH
Alphabetical: A A B C D E F H K M O R T T
Split and sorted: A A E O / B C D F H K M R T T
A couple more candidate words and the leftover letters from each:

DEATH - A O / B C F K M R T (this seems relevant to draugr)
HATE - A O / B C D F K M R T
CHOKE - A A / B D F M R T T
FROM - A A E / B C D H K T T
HAMR - A E O / B C D F K T T
at this point I'm feeling a 'tt' word is needed, and I think there's a good candidate for something sent to destroy us:
ATTACK - E O / B D F H M R
although that's mutually exclusive with 'death', too many As. another candidate word is the location:
FARM - A E O / B C D H K T T
DEBT - A A O / C F H K M R T
FARM DEBT - A O / C H K T
FARM DEATH - O / B C K T
those at least get a good consonant-to-vowel ratio.

What about 'CRAFT'? Uses an A, T, and has a fantastic 4:1 consonent to vowel ration.

And now some of the more unlikely possible words because that's all my brain can do and hopefully it can inspire someone else

HATTER - A O / B C D F K M
TACO - A E / B D F H K M R T
FART - A E O / B C D H K M T
MARKET - A O / B C D F H T

Instead of Hamr it could also be Harm

Fated to harm
leave us with B C K R
Sounds reasonable for a draugr sent to kill inscription, but leaves us without vowels for the last 4 consonants. So wrong unless it is possible for letters to not be needed.

That's the real issue here, we can find phrases that make sense in context, but we're always missing a letter or two.

If someone is particularly clever, they could include decoy letters.

Now, in this case, it's because I accidentally left a typo in there. There's only 1 T, my bad.

Good idea.
CRAFT - A E O / B D H K M T
CRAFT DEATH - O / B K M
CRAFT THEM - A O / B D K
CRAFT BAD - E O / H K M T
CRAFT BOAT - E / D H K M
I don't know why 'boat', mostly brainstorming
considering the draug's first form, I keep wanting to use MAKT (Norwegian and Norse for "might") but that isn't a word we've seen before in the quest, I think. what other words might relate to sending a monster to kill someone?
COMBAT - A E / D F H K R T

Right then. Updating the previous lists:
DEATH - A O / B C F K M R (this seems relevant to draugr)
HATE - A O / B C D F K M R
CHOKE - A A / B D F M R T
FROM - A A E / B C D H K T
HAMR - A E O / B C D F K T
CRAFT - A E O / B D H K M
CRAFT BAD - E O / H K M
COMBAT - A E / D F H K R
HATRED - A O / B C F K M
OATH - A E / B C D F K M R

A A E O / B C D F H K M R T

Yeah, if there's only one T, the only possible answer is "BACK FROM DEATH"

Which means? Buddy here wasn't a random Draugr, it was explicitly raised from the dead instead of just Getting Back Up.

...

And it's groin was missing.

Was this that Slagson Halla kneed in the balls and sent back for a rematch?

Incidentally, I am preemptively solving the anagram of "HALLA" as "A HALL", explaining why there's currently so many people inside her.

Happy it was. I'll be sure to include more in the future.
Though you probably want to telegraph these puzzles a bit better in the future :p We completely missed it at the time.
True, I'll be sure to do that.

I figured the coy 'gibberish... probably' would be enough, evidently not.

Hmm, I do have two, gimmie a bit, I sure I can think of something

So Abjorn's Fylgja is a bear, which, I suppose, is appropriate given his many 'Bear' traits.

...Does this retroactively double Abjorn's Endurance? Is he the most tankiest dude now?

Not retroactively since it won't double them in the past, but it gives him 16 Endurance going forward, yes. In fairness, that's only a little more than we have in armor (13 total), so it won't be really silly until he hits full size and we can get him in some armor.

When do we give birth by the way?

End of Winter. Then the Murderkittens emerge and we'll be up to our ankles.

Anyway, @Imperial Fister , I've got an idea what I'm doing with my Bonus Die, I want to spend it on using our Woven Aspects to try creating something within the Empty Space. That being said, that's the 'Fallback' if meddling with the Gate is something we can't do, so I'm not sure if that's covered in the previous Research we already have on the docket for the upcoming Plan.

Do I have to specify specifically what we're putting in there if we try something?
