Total non-sequitur from the current discussion, but Kennings are apparently great. Or at least positive ones are. Checking the character sheet, Longstride gives a +5d6 bonus to our Overland (taking us from 9d6 to 14d6 when we max it out), which is super sweet, and seems unlikely to have too many downsides, personality-wise...it implies travel, I guess, but not in an obligatory way. I'm very pleased with it.

Summer 5/Asvir Visit 3 Final
"I accept," your words are simple, but they do the job. The smile on Folkmarr's face is blinding as he releases his grip on the strip of virthing. It immediately bonds to your own unstoked virthing and adds itself to your power.

"Rise a felagi, Halla Longstride," your Jarl says as he helps you to your feet. As you do, you get a sudden... Not quite a pressure, but just a general sense of the locations of your fellow felagi, as well as their general condition.

Twelve invisible strands of power stretch from you to the rest of the felag, connecting you all in a web of your Jarl's power. Interestingly enough, it seems that Abjorn is already connected. You smile at the big lug, who sheepishly nods back.

Looking closer at each strand, it appears that the people here are all the top contenders from the trials — save Sten, who apparently refused — and four hirdmen. Of them, the only people you recognize are Abjorn and Stigandr's brother, Stigmar — the one who fought and defeated a bunch of bandits or something, you can't quite recall.

"In two days, we'll meet back here to plan our raid," Folkmarr says to his gathered felag, hands on his hips and ambition in his eyes. "Take care of whatever business you have and say goodbye to your wives, those who have them. Myself not included in that number, of course."

'He's not married? Rather strange sight to see on someone with that level of ambition.' Blackhand does have a point there. A grown Jarl that isn't married or promised? Very odd indeed.

Well, regardless of your boss' marital status, you've gotta go pay the Seeress and then — a vulpine grin slides up your face as Abjorn sighs, shoulders slumping — you'll 'celebrate' with Abjorn. You've got two nights to try your luck and you're not planning on wasting a single moment!

Two days later, you stand on the pebble beach with the rest of the felag gathered around the small longship — a karve, the smallest kind of ship suitable for war and raiding. Leaping from the ship, Folkmarr lands on the beach with a smile on his face as pebbles crunch under his leather-wrapped boots.

"Welcome, friends and associates," he says, spreading his arms wide and welcoming, "to the mighty ship, Treadfast. Who, I am sure, will see us to our destination and back safe and sound. But speaking of destinations..."

He pauses dramatically, golden hair flowing in the wind, "it is high time that we decided on ours."

"The first," he points towards the south, "is Denmark."

"The second," he points towards the south-west, "is Lotharingia."

"And the third," he points towards the west, "is Wessex."

AN: And there we have it, folks, you're off on a raid!

25-minute moratorium.

I'm currently in the process of writing up an infopost regarding Raids and Felags, so hold tight there.

Important Question: Is this the roll for this for the whole three 'mini-turns' of raiding? Because the answer to that is super relevant to some of our training decisions. It being the roll for all raiding would be completely consistent with rolling once per turn otherwise (since it's the same amount of time), just confirming.

[] Get to know/spend time with the other felagi
-[] Get to know/spend time with the other felagi

The only reason why I'm voting for this is because anime tropes have told me to be wary of a person like this. That's it. Also, I think we should get to know our fellow felagi.

I'll edit my post to include my other votes once they're decided. I don't really have a preference right now... perhaps we could talk with more of the felag? Or perhaps we could write a poem?

It isn't the roll for all of it, but it is the roll for next turn (raid-turn 0) because you're going to be spending most of your time on a boat with 11 other doofuses all crammed together. The turn after it, raid-turn 1, will likely have rolls. I have been swayed by the thread on this matter
I'm fairly confident that this should be wordplay
lmao, thanks. Have a reward dice.

Raiding France is a easy yes for me
The 800s in France Featured powerful kings with titles such as the "The Bald", "The Stammerer", "The Simple", and "The Fat". It'd be a real "challenge".

98 Orthstirr, we are pogging. We are very close to having double an average 20 year old's reserves, which means we can probably take one down without stoking anything, which seems like it would be a huge flex.

So...we're three times as likely to get pregnant over a raid turn as a normal turn? That seems wrong. Like, no chance would also be wrong, but triple the odds when, as you say, a lot of the time is forcibly spent not doing that seems really counterintuitive.

Poor Abjorn.
(Halla's Baby Making: 6, 4, 5, 2, 1, 6) 5 Successes
(Abjorn's: 3, 1, 4, 5, 1, 2, 1, 3, 5) 3 Successes
And again failing because of Abjorns low successes.

Lotharingia is where modern-day France is right now, right? I'm definitely up for raiding there. I don't really want to raid Denmark - familiarity is cool and all, but I'd rather explore and see new sights rather than retread (relatively) old ground, in the sense that their cultivation system is the same as ours. At least, I'm pretty sure it is. While I'd love to check out Wessex, it seems pretty far, and I'm fine with Lotharingia.

1d6 for magnify sight trick
1d6 for barb tongue
1d6 for Hamr
5d6 for reinforce shield
edit:
for my prefered training plan, work on sight, work on shapeshift unlock, maybe rank up our ability to insult, and reinforce shield

Thinking this, show off some poetry, talk to our ruler and talk to the guy who looks to be musically inclined, which could mean he does story telling. (If reputation is important you want the people telling your story to like you)

If it is the same Lotharingia that Wikipedia knows:

Lorraine (France), Luxembourg, Saarland (Germany), Netherlands, and the eastern half of Belgium, along with parts of today's North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany), Rhineland-Palatinate (Germany) and Nord (France).

oh yeah we were gonna pick up his wife werent we, well there goes my france invasion plan

Honestly, I don't really mind what gets picked, as long as it isn't Denmark.

...Would be very awkward if we kidnapped his fiance, only to find out she married someone else during the time Gabriel has been gone. Although I'm not actually sure she would do that, or if she even can in this time period and culture.

Id jsut drop the dice for reinforce shield, we need 12 successes for it to be mastered so we physically cant get it this turn unless we dump6 dice but the DM has confirmed that the raiding turn 1 wont have a roll so we safe for 1 more training vote

Eh, I'd rather we try and get Reinforce as soon as we can, and while Barb-Tongue has its uses, I don't see us using it that often. Not to mention that we may not even speak the same language that the people we're about to raid speak. I'd rather get Ember-Winged Cloak, which would give us more options in battle.

We actually need 9 successes beyond that (for Reinforce...luckily overflow on Reinforce shield does go there). We need to put every die into Reinforce Shield, I think. Every single one.
