Huh, wasn't aware all that Orth we were spending was actually going to help, but I'll take it!

Couples that raid together stay together ~~

And Abjorn is an absolute unit, I don't see him failing unless he was sandbagging for some indescribable reason.

Also, Yay! Our first Kenning!

-[X] (Optional) "But on one condition; my husband joins too." (Take a gamble. If Abjorn passed you'll look foolish. If he didn't, then you'll be quite the loyal wife.)

Abjorn is, uh, better than we are at this. He may not have quite as much orthstirr, but he certainly has a sizeable amount (3 draugr at once!) and he'll do well enough to not embarrass us. I have faith.

EDIT: Wait, people are misreading the Abjorn option (or at least I was), it makes us look bad if he passed. Which I'm basically 100% sure he did. We should not vote for it if we have faith in his victory.

Good catch! Taken it out then.

I'm sure Abjorn will rolfstomp that then. As you said, he's actually better at this than Halla is.

Abjorn is stronger than us, so he definitely doesn't need our help getting on the boat.

A Felag is like a raiding party right? Might as well make sure the Headsman's son doesn't kick the bucket on a routine raid.

Abjorn is basically the definition of a brick shithouse made of steel, if he doesn't pass with his demigod strength I'll stop eating for a week.

Yeah, Halla did well enough at running and jumping to get a Kenning from it. Abjorn absolutely thrashed Halla in their wedding race.

Not surprised, but it still fills me with pride to see us utterly stomp our competition. The person who came after us definitely went home and cried, poor guy. The kenning was a welcome surprise, too.

By the way, @Imperial Fister, is Halla's virthing (and the corresponding representations of frami and saemd) still an unadorned cloak - and if not, what does it look now? Also, I'd be very surprised if it still was a drab, plain cloak.

Halla's virthing resembles a cloak of owl feathers, feathers that are singed at the tips. A silver clasp holds it in place.

Her frami coats her in an outline of crimson flames.

And her saemd is a crown of iron spikes that curl out and up, each one bearing a candle-like lick of flame at the point.

Thanks for the description! Halla sounds awesome as fuck - if I had the money, I'd totally commission a piece with her frami, birthing and saemd unfurled.

"Do you know what they're calling you?" A stranger's voice calls out to you from the waters, unknowingly interrupting Blackhand. A man no older than you breathes lightly as he emerges from the calm waves, a lion's mane is wrapped around his bare shoulders. He's drenched from the golden hair on his head to the red-dyed leather wrappings around his legs, yet a smile stretches from ear-to-ear.

There wasn't any splash, which means he didn't jump after you. So he must have swam here in the seconds it took for you to recover...

"Longstride, that's what they're calling you." He shakes his head, honest admiration in his eyes. There's something familiar about his gaze, like you've seen it somewhere before. "You're incredible, you know? I grew up hearing stories about your family, but seeing it in person? With my own two eyes? Simply incredible."

"Uh, thanks...?" You say, fishing for a name while carefully avoiding the muscular, toned torso freely displayed to the world. You're married, dammit! "And what were they were calling me? 'Longstride' or something?"

"Folkmarr Manetaker," the Headsman's younger son plants his hands on his hips as he stands proud, the lion's mane flowing in the wind behind him, "and yes, they're calling you 'Halla Longstride'."
This passage looks weird to me... Even beside the "were they were".

"They're calling you Longstride"
"What were they calling me?"
"My name is X, and they're calling you Longstride"
