Hey Halla/Blackhand, do you think that Sunfire spear could have pierced the Jotnar's skin? not that we are going to go fight Jotnar(hopefully) we'll still die horribly. but interested if thats a thing that can break through
It may very well, though neither you nor Blackhand are certain

Visiting Jurgdby 1
[X] Visit the Jarl's hall
0~0~0

As you pass through multiple layers of palisade walls and enter into the core stronghold of Jarl Corpsemaker's power, you're greeting by an armed guard of two Ironmasks and a man who can only be Jarl Corpsemaker's youngest son, Baldvin Starsword.

Baldvin stands tall with broad shoulders and square jaw. He's the spitting image of his father, though he lacks the sheer, unfettered confidence that suffuses every aspect of Corpsemaker's being. A sword made from a fallen star—the blade's metal a mix of blue and yellow—hangs from his belt as he comes to a stop before you. It glows with a strong, fully aware spirit—it's Realized.

"Hail, Halla Sunshine," Baldvin Starsword greets you with a warm, welcoming smile as he offers you his arm, which you take, "My father is currently in a meeting with the King and is not at liberty to welcome you, so he's assigned me the honor of doing so."

"Jarl Odd is here?" You pause as you share Baldvin's wrist, slight astonishment rising in your heart.

"Indeed," Baldvin nods as he steps back a half-pace. "I believe that the King is here to make certain of Father's loyalties for the coming war with Rogaland."

"I see..." you suck down a sigh as you nod, "Well, are you able to do business in the name of your father?"

"I am," Baldvin nods as he eyes you with a clearly cunning gaze. "What have you in mind?"

"Well..."

AN: Not much to say here

No moratorium and short vote.

Hmmm. Not gonna be worth bringing up the Dorri thing, then, not without meeting Corpsemaker in person...we'll need to wait for another opportunity. I think just selling the Healing Clay and feeling him out on Restful Clay? That'd look something like this:

[X] "I have acquired a large amount of healing clay, which seems like the sort of thing your father might like to purchase given the likelihood of war...I also might have some restful clay for sale in the near future. What sort of prices can you give me for those?"

[X] "While I was on the way to Gotland to scatter my father's ashes, we made a stop-over in Denmark, I loaded the hold with Healing and Restful Clay. Things sort of got a little out of hand, and we ended up back here before I could sell it off, and I still have all of those goods. Do you think Jurgdby could make use of this?" Offer to trade the Healing Clay and at least some of the Restful Clay
-[X] Slip in some Eyespeech during this discussion. "I also have some information that your father might find noteworthy, but I've already caught a few watchers and the information is sensitive, if you can arrange a private meeting, I can likely slip their eyes for a moment to get there."

I think we can certainly ask to arrange a meeting, if his son and Second is in Dorri's pocket, chances are good we're already undone.

We really want to keep most of the Restful Clay, I think. I'm not against the rest of this, but we want to keep at least a large portion of that.

Should we include our intention to meet with a Shapecrafter in our talk right now? Would it be better to let him introduce us to the local one he trusts the most? I know we were theoretically hoping to get the Krymsviking(?) one already, but having the prince who seems to like us help introduce us would be useful, maybe?

I've adjusted the wording to not say we're offering all the Restful Clay.

Alright, I'm in.

There's only one local shapecrafter, who works for the Kyrsvikingar but also for money. I don't think this is super needed.

That looks good to me!

I made another last minute adjustment to the broad wording, but yeah, I don't think it materially changes things.

It's not the kind of discussion we want made more than once, and it's probably easier to get eyes and ears on the son than it is on Corpsemaker himself.
To be fair, telling the son this information is pretty effective in telling the Corpsemaker given we've mentioned our secrecy in the eyespeech. It would throw up less red flags if we tell it to the son in eye speech and then have the son pass it on than to meet with Corpsemaker or his son for a secret meeting. The only thing is if we're not sure of the loyalties of the son has to Corpsemaker.

Hmm, what does everyone else think?

I don't think Eyespeech is completely undetectable, especially if you're using a lot of it. Hence my hope to minimize the use of it here down to a sentence or so.

I like this plan, Halla is truly becoming an expert of courtly intrugue.

I do think like it'd be more suspicious if it got out that we met with Corpsemaker, which wouldn't be too hard to find out imo? Like, yeah, I doubt they'd discover what we talked about, but it'd certainly be more sus I feel.

I think we want to present what we know to Corpsemaker personally, because the way we present it is actually super important. We have no proof at all and emphasizing both that fact and the fact that we intend to acquire such proof is deeply important. Presented wrong, this information could trigger an instant civil war which would be bad for several reasons.

It's arguable we shouldn't meet with him secretly at all, and just wait for another opportunity, though.

That's why the hope is for a private meeting, where we're not known to have met with him.

I doubt they're omniscient or we're already undone.
