If that's the worry, we just lock him down with an Oath. Breaking such an Oath would likely require a lot more motivation than mere ambition.

That's definitely an option. Or maybe the guy is genuinely loyal to go along with his ambitions and that's why he's hitching his wagon to Halla's. Something to be said for an employer willing to deck you out in magical arms and armor. Shows she values them and he wants to be valued. Another social with him, like a few others have suggested, might make his whole deal a bit clearer.

Talking to Skavidr Skatasson
"Hey, Halla!" The youthfully energetic voice of Skavidr Skatasson draws your attention to the side as he jogs up next to you. "How're things going?"

Skavidr is a young man with big, round eyes that seem to stare at the world in an oh-so-innocent fashion. This, of course, is something he's well aware of and regularly uses to his advantages—as a game of dice eventually revealed one smoky evening.

"They're going as fine as can be expected," you reply as you squint down at Asgeirr gnawing on a piece of scrap iron by your feet—his bronze teeth needing to be filed down every once in a while.

"Nice, nice," Skavidr nods as he rubs his hands together. "Well, I actually have something to ask you, if you'd be willing to hear it."

You arch a brow, "What've you got in mind?"

"Well," his face lights up in a broad, eager grin, "I heard that you were looking for potential huskarls and wanted to offer my services! You're an up-and-coming leader and I want to get on your good side, you see."

You eye him for a long while before nodding, slowly, "Right, well, I'll think it over and get back to you once I've made a decision, yeah?"

"Yeah!" Skavidr nods before bouncing off back to the ship.

There's something weird with him, that much is certain. Is it the kind of weirdness you want at your side? Well, on that you're not so certain.

Interesting.

Just young and over-eager, or a spy from Dorri, or something else?

I mean, every option that was even on the board had the same number of votes!

Just a funny bit of perspective looking over the breadth of this quest.

-[X] Write in how many nights are spent in each
--[X] Lodge with local landowners (Silver-Tongue Check, -1 Success for every 10 crew you have, +1 Morale)
--[X] All five nights
--[X] Spend **3 Odr** on each Silver-Tongue check

Early-Quest Halla: This sacred liquid is the key to our advancement. The small amounts I manage to produce every season must be carefully invested. Infusion of attributes, experimenting with the Tricks, or building up a reserve to spend only in the most desperate emergencies. Letting a single drop go to waste could mean the difference between life and death.
Present-Day Halla: Look, Odr's meant to be spent, and I'm not saving up for the next big advancement, so I might as well spend a few every night to try and ensure that our crew can get a good place to sleep.

In fairness, we're currently gaining 5 per day or spending some per day would not be worth it...it's slowing our gain, not taking a loss.

My favorite early game Halla vs current game Halla is her first visit to the city, going to the blacksmith and realizing she will never be able to afford anything good, that mail armor is a pipe dream and swords are insanely overpriced.

Then midgame Halla gets into smithing but is mostly practicing with Sten's metal. Decides to go buy metal for him and is shook at how expensive the metals are, and ends up buying a lot of cheap metal for the most part.

Current game Halla is rich as hell, casually has the metal to make mail armor for everyone near her, and doesn't buy swords purely because she is the best swordsmith she knows, not because she can't afford them.

My favorite 'wow this is wildly different' is just looking at her combat stats and how they've evolved. It's such an absurd difference between the Fight On The Ice (2 Endurance, 6d6 Combat Pool, single digit Orthstirr, barely any Tricks) and now (16 Endurance, 137d6 Combat Pool, over 1000 Orthstirr, more Tricks than can be easily counted). It's sincerely wild.

Gotland Calls | Skane 1

As you walk towards the hall dominating the secluded village, you pass by just under a dozen ships resting on the coastline—warships all and filled with eager warrior-spirits. The largest vessel has a hundred oars while the smallest a mere twenty. Just standing somewhat close to them tells you all you need to know of their fighting hearts, each plank of wood having seen more battles than you have years.

Striding towards the hall on the hill, a certain sense of unease strikes you as you can't help but notice the, well, the spoils of raiding around just about every corner. Trophies hang above doorways as thralls labor in the fields. Men chat about old battles as they discuss shares of this year's booty. Despite the fact that it's planting season, all anyone can seem to talk about is where the next raid will be.

...No wonder the Danes of Skane were suspicious of you. How many sons have been slain? How many daughters have been stolen?
'This is what happens when you are never challenged, when you are safe from all threats.'
For a moment, you can almost hear a certain someone's voice, but it was just your imagination playing tricks on you.

Arriving at the massive double doors, you take a deep as you plant hands on the wooden surface. Hall, having served as guide through the village, pauses as he looks your way.

"Have you... Difficulties?" He asks with quirked head.

"No, no it's just..." Having to recount your father's death... It won't be easy.

"Well," Hall says as he runs fingers through his beard, "when my daughters were about your age, they always came to me when they had difficulties speaking their minds. I am, apparently, quite easy to talk to," he chuckles, a sad flicker in his eyes, "either way, though, you can work out what you're going to say with me before you go on in, if you'd like."

"Thank you, but..." You trail off as you consider his offer.

What do you do?
[ ] Take him up on his offer
-[ ] Write in how you go about it
[ ] Thank him, but refuse. You'll trust your gut on this one.

AN: Not much to say here.

No moratorium.

Legit same, except I look at the Draugr fight. I am fairly certain we can body a good number of them now without breaking a sweat.

Yeah, the more I see it, the more it looks like the Skane branch is just waiting for a Calamity. They've gotten too powerful, which means someone's going to bring them to heel.
