she said she was trying to fiddle with aging, yeah. but it doesn't sound like she managed to do much- Idunn's apples were the only solution and she only managed to get a few skins. and it doesn't seem like they really do all that much- the medicine she made for Steinnar from them only got him a few days.
I do think we should try and journey to beseech Idunn for an actual apple
We could try for other methods as well, though not much comes to mind without hooks...
Perhaps if the Irish legend about the medicinal herbs is true and we can get something.... But that's stretching on my part, what with only reading about that from another story, with the MC having literal "immortali-tea" as his source of longevity....
And it would onl work until our fated day anyways.
I mean, only something like 1/8 of the people fighting (okay, more like 1/6 of those actually going out to fight) are wearing our stuff...if we get 1/10 what they loot, we're getting 1/60 of the loot...ie: about 3 people's share, plus what we loot ourselves, of course. So sizable profits, certainly, but not truly outrageous. Depending on how loot gets distributed and our level of badassness relative to the people using our armor, we may well 'only' double our profits beyond what we and Abjorn would've gotten already, or even a bit less than that.

It sounded to me like she got an ongoing supply of skins which were helping her to age slowly and gracefully by Norse standards. Doing things for Steinarr was harder than that and not sustainable.

I don't think so? I mean, it sounds more like she just got some skins, a one time deal? and honestly, even if she does, it seems hard to believe she can just take a skin every few days. something else is at work here. or its just that our lineage burns quicker then most norse. people in medieval ages could definetly live up to 60-70, even 80+ if they were lucky, if they didn't die young from combat or plague. and Seidr might also help- not with slowing the clock, but with treating its symptoms and fighting disease.
but this should also be a reminder Solrun can die soon too. we didn't get a warning with Steinnar. Solrun can easily quickly start deteriorating, just as well

Solrun has been experimenting with them every winter for, conservatively, 17 years (Kolla's age, it may have been longer)...you can't really do that with a one time thing, and she probably wouldn't have made the deal for a one time amount of skins either. She also had a kid at, as others note, a point when that shouldn't have been possible. I think the skins are more effective at dealing with the less severe effects of aging than the ones Steinarr is experiencing...he'll only be okay for a few days, but she can alow her own aging a bit and escape its effects at lower costs for longer periods as they are not as severe.
Given we're an Odr cultivator, if we got a single apple or even a single apple seed, we could probably plant it in our soul and hit it with enough Odr to make it grow. Of course, that would require us to do some kind of giant favour for Idrun.
@Imperial Fister
When Gabriel arrived, he was in anti-cultivator shackles used for Thralldom of Norse cultivators.
1) Are they still effective on the tier of cultivators we are about to face.
2) How available are they? If the enemy suffered many bodily dead, could we reasonably threaten to have them all shackled and then resurrected before the rest of the enemy is back home and can have shapecrafters make bodies for them to be resurrected into?

Solrun is probably also doing better than Steinarr simply due to the skins functioning as a preventative measure against issues of ageing, what with the whole "an ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure" and everything
I dunno...it costing a lot of Odr and a favor from Idun significantly more impressive than your own child seems sufficient to me. It doesn't prevent the very common 'sword to the face' cause of death, after all.

They are generally available, though you don't have enough to shackle even half of the raiders. A third at most.

[X] Dorri
-[X] Have Folkmarr and Frammar lead scouting groups to follow the 2 smaller grouos, while Dorri and Logi take large groups to crush the larger enemy groups. Then swing round and wipe out the 2 smaller groups with aid from the scouts in finding them.

That's been theorized before, yeah, and seems like it'd work (for definitions of immortality involving only aging)...it'd require a hell of a bargain with Idunn, though.

When you were young, barely even old enough to know the names of your parents, you used to boast that should raiders come to your shores, you'd drive them off with fire and steel.
Today, so many years later, you aim to make good on that boast.
Gripping Sagaseeker tight, you march near the front of Dorri's column as you head towards the largest group of enemies. With about eighty men at your back, it should be a piece of cake to cut them down, but things rarely turn out the way most wanted.
Unfortunately, with men like Hymir Evershade, Einarr Blurryblade, Nainn Rotting, Kelldorr Crowfoot, and your own brother Sten among the ranks, you don't quite make the grade for champion status. A pity, but that's just how it goes sometimes. You'll still be near the spearhead, though, so that, at least, is to be celebrated!
The ground beneath your feet is wet and mushy as you march towards Kellfell—where Kelldorr Crowfoot lays his head. The marshlands near the coast make for poor fighting ground, but it is a disadvantaged shared with the raiders.
Only a few spots in the marshes are solid enough ground to farm and Kellfell is one of them. The raiders won't know that, though, so they'll likely leave towards the ships as soon as they spot Dorri's force. The quickest route to their landing site will take them across a purposefully dried riverbed—which, alongside other streams, had been dammed in preparation for the raid.
Once the raiders make for their ships, a signal will be given, and the waters unleashed. Cut off from their ships, the raiders will be forced to turn and fight else brave the waters. The plan had been discussed while marching and you find it agreeable.
However, you are of high enough standing to have a say in the plan, should you so desire. While you never ranged much into these parts of the Hading, you still know the locations of import. You could try to drive the raiders north, to where a small crevice cuts the earth. Forcing them into that would certainly be helpful, as you could block both ends and rain arrows upon them.
You could also try to drive them deeper into the marshlands, towards where the ground is merely a façade of floating grass and algae. They'd be at a terrible disadvantage in that fight, should that play out the way you desire.
Of course, you could just keep quiet and focus on the coming battle.
What do you do?
