;PI'm going to assume there's some translation handwaves going on for a Jotun to say "christened".
I thought I was being euphemistic, but Wikipedia is straight up misrepresenting here. The text is clear that Thor hurled the rock at her (Gjalp). This is after it says she was standing on both sides of the river, which is less clear, but probably means she was big enough to stand with one leg on each side. Jotuns huge. It's the VimurWikipedia said:Thor hurled a rock into the river, effectively stopping the flow.

Þá tók Þórr upp ór ánni stein mikinn ok kastaði at henni ok mælti svá: "At ósi skal á stemma."
Roughly: Then took Thor up from river stone mighty and cast at her and mouthed(said) so: "At outflow shall river [be] dammed".
(Translation is an art, not a science, here I have tried to preserve cognates like mikinn->mighty, where most translations would say "big" about the stone.)

Now, which of our diabolical riddles should we unleash first?
To be fair, you're outnumbered. You should totally use friends and family that don't participate in this thread as a sounding board if there are any such available. Totally fair.AN: This will be rather interesting, given my poor track record with solving riddles
No, I was just clearly right about that Masters in Divinity. Thank Odin we didn't challenge him to a Bible off.I'm going to assume there's some translation handwaves going on for a Jotun to say "christened".
@Imperial Fister can we declare a specific post exempt from you getting a look at it even if we use Reward Dice? It's...logistically difficult to round up all the riddles we might want to use in one post otherwise. Which makes things a bit awkward.
Yes, but you only get one post that's exempt@Imperial Fister can we declare a specific post exempt from you getting a look at it even if we use Reward Dice? It's...logistically difficult to round up all the riddles we might want to use in one post otherwise. Which makes things a bit awkward.
I was totally going to anyways ;PTo be fair, you're outnumbered. You should totally use friends and family that don't participate in this thread as a sounding board if there are any such available. Totally fair.
I'm not entirely sure what you mean here?
I think if we use spoiler tags we can trust IF won't look. Not sure where the declaring exempt or Reward Dice come in.
Or do you mean not using spoilers?
That feels like a bad idea purely because of how easy it might be to accidentally scroll past it.
One in totalSweet. One per round, or will I need to go back and edit it? Either way, coming right up.
It should be at least as hard as this
No-legs lay on one-leg,
two-legs sat near on three-legs,
four-legs got some.
[Fish on a table,
man on a stool,
cat gets the scraps]

Few want to have me yet all fear to lose me once theydo
Who am I?

Guarding the road of roads,

#5(by Skippy)

I have no end and no beginning
only ever going change
any being can invoke me
yet only few have seen my truest form
(answer:a circle. it has no ending but is ever changing in direction. anyone can draw a circle but drawing it well is very hard. drawing a perfect circle is impossible but that might be beyond Halla's thinking as she didn't study geometry in depth I think)
I am life to some and death to others
and a symbol to all
in one direction I am bound
by strings of fate invoked by toil
(answer- an arrow. an arrow is a tool of hunting, neccessary to survive so life. it is death, as a weapon, obviously. it is a symbol of swiftness or determination. strings of fate are simply the string of a bow, which can take considerable strength and effort to draw(invoked by toil)
